forgot to mention the desert!! we got the" chocolate decadence"- to die for! it was wonderful and the best part of the meal!

i'll give it another shot- my husband and i just moved to jax and someone told us about thisplaceso we went there our first night living here. i'm from north dallas and the atmosphere and surrounding shops reminded me of home! way smaller, but still! :) i got the ruben panini.. don't know why they call it that since it wasn't a ruben- no thousand island or s crout. but it was decent. my husband loved the fish tacos though! it was a coolplaceso i want to give it another shot- perhaps brunch next time!

the brick is an averageplaceto go. great if u want some expensive, fair quality food. they have a good atmosphere. and good drinks. i kinda recommend

i'm not entirely sure a french dip sandwich is worth $15 but ok. i like thisplacei will give it a try again and order something else.

decided to go across town to thisplacedespite the rating. i'm so happy i did. i took a friend here to celebrate a special occasion. the waiter recommended a steak that was not on the menu. hmmm. it was huge, seasoned & cooked perfectly. will be back for sure

this is my 2nd review. i used to like thisplacebut today left me annoyed. i am 6 mon preggo and had a 16 mon in my arms. no one brought me a high chair they were all standing around looking at me, even the host as i was standing at my table. they were not busy, the other servers just passed me by, our server mia, so my friend walked to the back and grabbed one. our server saw that and said nada, she had no personality. my burger was not well done like i asked, i left pretty much the entire thing sans 4 bites around the huge red middle. server did not acknowledge it, again don't care. there was raw shredded cabbage under my patty, um ok?!? maybe that's a new addition or not. overall thisplaceneeds new servers who don't stand around and watch patrons. also learn how to cook a burger, that's kinda important. waste of $, waste of time. positive- loaded baked potato was great, spinach dip always good, i did enjoy that.

yummy. i go here a lot and consistently have had great food and service usually. there have been a few off days for service and once the fish entree was pretty much inedible and filled with bones (they comped me after they noticed i didn't touch it and the pile of huge bones). but overall, i do like the food here, the salads are fresh, the soups great, the weekend brunch is sooo good. i will return :)

love love love this place. the servers are superb. brunch has huge portions and the grits..... it's like a religious experience..... so good! josh is our fav server. all the servers are great. the management really cares about their guests. they know us by face and our puppy. this has to be my favplaceever to eat. the ambiance at night is great too.

we have been eating at the brick for years and it has generally been a decentplacewith mostly consistent food and average service. we went for a routine sunday brunch and were promised a table in 15 minutes. 45 minutes later and after at least 6 other parties were seated we were still waiting. the host/hostess staff seemed to care less about our wait time and were terribly disorganized in seating priorities. when we were finally seated, good service was less than attentive. after many many years of reliable service, this was a serious dining disappointment. avoid it if you can.

definitely not this time. well first impressions was aplacefull of yuppies with pretty food. in reality lousy food and a stuck up waitress. first off theplaceis nice modern with a real need for dusting. upon seating our waitress asked for our drink order then a breath and are you ready to order your food. i still had on my jacket and the menus were still closed. for the food we both went with brunch. me the tenderlion bendict and the wife the spinach and goat cheese benedict. we expected a small wait being theplaceis maybe half full with mostly young children running amuck. the floor show i guessed. now after a good 30 minutes or more i was ready for food. so the food arrives looking pretty good. nice color on the hollandaise with potatos and a pretty garnish. first the filet however was more like a shoe leather, grey cold, thin and quite tastless. the eggs were poached and well the yolk maybe would run by not past the edge of the dry un-toasted muffin. using my knife i was able to eat thur this meal. the wife's meal however was nicely done with well cooked soft poached (runny) eggs and fresh spinach and a tangy goat cheese to match. the home fries were both way over done and closer to potato chips then frys for us. so next time we are in avondale looking for brunch. i think we will be across the street tring "the fox"

what a greatplaceto sit outside, under an awning watching the rain while having lunch! service was great, friendly and relaxed. we were made to feel welcome to enjoy a leisurely afternoon with our 3 (very quiet and well behaved) dogs. the lump crabcake sandwich was full of delicious crabmeat and the cheeseburger cooked to perfection. we will definately add the brick to our favorite eateries.

it's certaonly not for everyone and mo not everyplacecan be perfect all the time but i love the brick. my experiences there have shown me good service, especially if you know which servers to ask for. the food is good and i like the fact i can go there and get the prime rib, which is delicious, or get a caesar and their mozzarella tomato appetizer. never have sat outside but the ambience inside is nice.

yuck. i don't review stuff often. i know not everyday can be perfect for anyone. however, i just returned from lunch from brick. i have to say it was one of the very worst dining experinces of my life. the service was terribly slow, especially for lunch time. i could not get a drink refill to save my like. i had the french dip which was bland at best. the brie was decent. the creme brulee sucked. overall, for the prices and location of thisplacei would have expected way, way better. i was disappointed. i won't go back.

glorified applebees. there are several things wrong with this place.

first off, assuming you enjoy eating applebees quality food, you're going to love this place. it's basically the same menu, but twice the price.

brick is just selling an image. thisplacegets so full of yuppies on a friday or saturday night it's out of control. i've sampled several things on the menu and found everything to be extremely boring.

i can understand coming here if you're in your late-twenties and don't mind enjoying a five-dollar domestic beer with a bunch of a yuppie wanks.

fantastic food and service!. now there are lots of choices in jacksonville to eat, 2256 according to urbanspoon, but the brick is the onlyplacei have visited, especially on the westside, where you can ask your server to create something off the menu, and not have a problem. you can mix and match items to your liking, i was able to create a blt with salmon all by asking for it, since i loved this at another restaurant, who will remain nameless, since they took this off their menu.

new items are coming and going all the time from the brick, the staff is well educated and has excellent experience, and the restaurant has 3 excellent managers who all seem to be there on the busy nights and holidays. great jazz on weekends, it is a greatplaceto hang out and have a very good meal.

i truly wish thisplacewould get their quality control under control!. i have given thisplaceexhausting opportunities as a favorite sunday brunch spot. but, be aware that what comes out of the kitchen has no quality control. they can't cook eggs to order (tried on 4 different occasions to get over medium eggs), when they make a mistake they simply do things like scrape cheese off instead of re-cooking, they don't check the quality of bread items and i have several times gotten half a bun that was a croûton, and there are dozens more examples. the service can be excellent, but there are a couple of servers with more attitude than talent and they seem to still keep their jobs. just this past sunday i asked for mayo for my burger at the time it was served (i've stopped ordering eggs because they are too difficult for them to cook). well, no mayo and no server and everyone else had completely finished their meals. so i went and ask for a manager and told her what happened and i finally got my mayo! however, guess what? cold fries, half croûton bun and well done burger (ordered medium rare) with the american cheese scraped off and some still left on the bun. i think they were simply trying to outdo their previous horrendous quality control! stay away if you prefer your food to be as ordered because it's clear their slogan is the kitchens way or the highway folks!

worst in jax. the brick is one of the worst restaurants in jacksonville. the location is the only redeeming thing about it - which makes it even more annoying - because it would be an incredible space for aplacethat served quality food. sub par at best.
