brewer's art

intriguing (though not cheap)foodwith local made-here brews and a friendly casual staff in a class mt. vernon townhouse is worth experiencing

the reverse mullet of restaurants: party in the front, business in the back.. my baltimore friends know where all the best places are in this great city. it is with that in mind that they took me on a little tour of some of these places and picked brewer's art as a sort of in-between-meals locale that i must check out. the front of this place was unpretentious with a nice bar atmosphere and a friendly bartender/server. it was saturated with hipsters as well. when the menu was set in front of me, i was a little taken aback by the prices of some of their appetizers, let alone dinner selections and that made me wonder what kind of place this really was. then i walked back to use the restroom and saw the elegant dining room set up and realized that this place can be as formal or as informal as you want. truly, i wish i came here for more than just the fries (which were amazing considering they were just fries) but i will have to return at a later date to try their many great looking meals. i also got a flight of beer which were all fairly well balanced without a skunky or off-putting one in the group of 7. i couldn't really pick a true favorite, but the birdhouse stood out to me as the best due to its sharp finish and more floral notes than the others.

i know this is a hell of a place and i can't wait to stop back and see just how well theirfoodstacks up.

amazingfoodand excellent service. we were going to the speaker series and the waiter did a great job of giving us time, but keeping the meal going. we ordered wine instead of a beer and it was excellent. the steak frites was truly wonderful. overall 5 stars

overpriced/ limited menu. i left there and thought about stopping off to eat somewhere else because i was still hungry. portions were very small for the price charged. would not allow ordering barfoodin the dining room. hardly anyone in dining room at 6:30 on a friday night...now i know why. i will not be returniong

i'm sure i could sit here and come up with a fun to say "be sure you visit brewer's art", but i'm not even going to try. you should visit because thefoodis great and the beer is as good as anything else being put out locally. visit now. eat good. drink great. be happy.

not for dark beer lovers. their beer is extremely sweet. if you are a fan of popular breweries such as rogue, stone, breckenridge, etc, you may not like their beer.foodwas very good. just very disappointing beer.

extremely good beer! pubfoodmenu portions are on the small and pricey side but still very good. certainly a place to go if you enjoy craft brews and fine dining.

good, but not "foodies" good. it was a good experience, but not amazing one. ambiance is cozy and can be romantic if it wouldn't be too noisy when the room fills up.foodis good portion wise (they are huge), but (though somewhat creative)is too bland for our pallets taste wise. none of the dishes created a craving to come back for it. the prices are reasonable for what you get, but we'd rather to spend this kind of money in places like demi, where thefoodis much more inventive and delicious, though portions are tapas size.

go for the beer. thefoodis a bit rich and i've yet to eat anything there that i love. beer is great, basement has a unique atmosphere - however, when it's busy it fills up with an odd combination of today's yuppies and beardos... not exactly the friendly/social crowd. i prefer to go when it's not so busy.

good. beer is good,foodis outstanding, and i've always had good service. i usually go downstairs (dive), try to go whenever i'm in baltimore.

great beer, great bar food...stop there.. i have been to the brewer's art several times for beer and barfoodwith nothing but good experiences. the last time i went the downstairs was too crowded, so we ate upstairs instead. for the money, i don't think it's worth it. the overall experience is far better downstairs.

we first heard about brewer’s art from one of val’s coworkers who told us we had to try the resurrection beer, or res as he said the regulars call it. he was pretty excited when talking about it (and he said thefoodwas good too), so we had to go. going

brewer's art! no art in cooking!. nice decor and atmosphere but thats all. did not like thefoodat all. i guess it can be a good place for cocktail hour after school, but not going back to eat.

somewhat over-rated. the beer is good, but there are lots of places in baltimore to get good beer. the upstairs dining is not worth it. they have a major problem actually deliveringfoodthat is hot. we spent $100/couple without any wine. too many other places in baltimore where you can get a much much better meal than brewers art.
and the staff is genuinely rude, especially the hostess.

good beer but rude staff. i had always heard good things about the brewer's art and i like their beer a lot, but the last time i was there the staff was just awful. we were in the front bar section upstairs (downstairs was closed) and the bartender/server refused to let us start separate tabs at the bar, even though we were a group of about 8 people who were not all leaving at the same time. it made paying a big pain. also, i asked for a leftover box for myfoodand they said they couldn't give leftover boxes to people who orderfoodat the bar because they were running out and needed them for the restaurant. i asked if they just had some foil i could use to wrap up myfoodand they refused to give me any. the staff also got a snooty attitude with me when i tried to pay for myfoodand drinks before the rest of the group was ready to leave. i will not be going back. the beer is really good, and i love the fries, but i don't need to deal with such rude staff.
