shmee shmee. i just don't get it.brewer'sart is the number one bar in america according to esquire. it's number six here on urban spoon's top 100 for baltimore. in my experiences, the beer variety is above average. but if good beer selection made a bar, wouldn't max's in fells point be number one ? at least they have tvs, darts, pool table, friendly staff..... the garlic fries aren't that impressive. the service is not even worth mentioning. i have nothing againstbrewer'sart, but with all the hype surrounding this place, it guarantees disappointment

shh, a baltimore staple.. i love thebrewer'sart, i've been here many times. the restaurant is divided into two separate restaurants. upstairs, and downstairs with separate entrances. upstairs is upscale, quiet yet bustling, tall ceilings, dim lighting and has a great atmosphere. downstairs, is a dressed up dark cave. it's a bar, with really really loud music.

now the food-
upstairs has a decent sized menu with original items, more seafood than anything else. i'd order anything off the menu any day of the week, but i look out for the seasonal specials. i've ordered the steak frites, which is nothing less than spectacular...but it should really come with the seasoned rosemary fries which are only offered downstairs, and if you insist they will substitute them, but generally they give you a hard time. great brews without exception- do i really need to tell you how great they're beer is? it stands alone. i've ordered a few of their fish dishes as well and i'm always completely satisfied with my order.

downstairs, if you can withstand the noise and bring your flashlight to read the menu, is an experience all its own. they have a great burger that comes with rosemary fries, and i only wish it were offered upstairs so that i could dine in a more mellow setting. i've again tried their seasonal items, like a chickpea burger that was blow your mind, i need that recipe good. now, if you're not looking to eat, downstairs is the happening, trendy, upscale mt.vernon bar you've been dreaming of. bartenders are excellent, they can make almost any drink you can think of without explanation.

i understand their reasoning for not allowing you to order a burger and fries while upstairs in their dining room, but i would gladly pay a surcharge to have it upstairs if my plan was to come for a meal.

will be back many more times to come, can't wait to see what will pop up next on their menu!

the reverse mullet of restaurants: party in the front, business in the back.. my baltimore friends know where all the best places are in this great city. it is with that in mind that they took me on a little tour of some of these places and pickedbrewer'sart as a sort of in-between-meals locale that i must check out. the front of this place was unpretentious with a nice bar atmosphere and a friendly bartender/server. it was saturated with hipsters as well. when the menu was set in front of me, i was a little taken aback by the prices of some of their appetizers, let alone dinner selections and that made me wonder what kind of place this really was. then i walked back to use the restroom and saw the elegant dining room set up and realized that this place can be as formal or as informal as you want. truly, i wish i came here for more than just the fries (which were amazing considering they were just fries) but i will have to return at a later date to try their many great looking meals. i also got a flight of beer which were all fairly well balanced without a skunky or off-putting one in the group of 7. i couldn't really pick a true favorite, but the birdhouse stood out to me as the best due to its sharp finish and more floral notes than the others.

i know this is a hell of a place and i can't wait to stop back and see just how well their food stacks up.

i'm sure i could sit here and come up with a fun to say "be sure you visitbrewer'sart", but i'm not even going to try. you should visit because the food is great and the beer is as good as anything else being put out locally. visit now. eat good. drink great. be happy.

both a restaurant and bar, thebrewer'sart is a local brewery in baltimore pushing out some nice artisan beer alongside some pretty elegant eats. save a few dollars from the restaurant side and have a look at their bar menu for some great small dishes like this seasonal gnocchi dish. sauteed with pumpkin and greens, it was a quaint little dish that went well with their microbrews.

great beer, great bar food...stop there.. i have been to thebrewer'sart several times for beer and bar food with nothing but good experiences. the last time i went the downstairs was too crowded, so we ate upstairs instead. for the money, i don't think it's worth it. the overall experience is far better downstairs.

good beer but rude staff. i had always heard good things about thebrewer'sart and i like their beer a lot, but the last time i was there the staff was just awful. we were in the front bar section upstairs (downstairs was closed) and the bartender/server refused to let us start separate tabs at the bar, even though we were a group of about 8 people who were not all leaving at the same time. it made paying a big pain. also, i asked for a leftover box for my food and they said they couldn't give leftover boxes to people who order food at the bar because they were running out and needed them for the restaurant. i asked if they just had some foil i could use to wrap up my food and they refused to give me any. the staff also got a snooty attitude with me when i tried to pay for my food and drinks before the rest of the group was ready to leave. i will not be going back. the beer is really good, and i love the fries, but i don't need to deal with such rude staff.

we always like to check out local microbreweries while we are on the road. while in baltimore, we went to thebrewer'sart , a bar and restaurant housed in an old mansion. the bar was packed when we entered for dinner. while the bar area was bright and co

thank you for saving the horrible artscape. i have to commend thebrewer'sart staff on the handling of the huge numbers of artscape refugees that started to line up outside the restaurant on saturday a half hour before they opened and didn't leave till late. the bar staff kept the overstuffed bar area happy and even spent a good deal of time explaining the beers to first time visitors. i wish places near camden yards could learn to handle such crowds around o's games.

the beer continues to be the best brewed in the baltimore area and while the winter menu is better than the summer, the food is well suited to the beer.

good for the food, better for the beer. whilebrewer'sart has some good food, i tend to think of it more for its beers. it's true that the food is more than your typical "pub food", but it's their beers—some of which, like resurrection, you can find in other bars and restaurants in town—that prove more memorable.
