not for dark beer lovers. their beer is extremely sweet. if you are a fan of popular breweries such as rogue, stone, breckenridge, etc, you may not like their beer. food was very good. just very disappointing beer.

meh.... hoping to be wowed...not. our wait person jenn was great, the beer/beer list excellent.

we started with mussels, charcuterie and caesar salad - mussels were bland, caesar was status quo, croutons were probably not made in house and even the parm looked like the factory grate. the charcuterie was the best opener - loved the mustards and pickled carrots with the duck prosciutto and "sweetish" crème brulee style chicken liver mousse.

i had the arctic char, husband had the steak, sis the walleye ( ok we grew up in minnesota and this didn't look like any walleye we ever had where it really is local ! ) and bro in law the chicken. my husband's steak was great - i think we were all having plate lust over what he ordered. my fish was cooked perfectly but it was just blah - the brick of "potatoes", pesto, asparagus - all very bland and sitting on an apple puree ? there was just nothing bright and flavorful about the dish, same went for the walleye. the sauce it was sitting on could have been great but it was just there. i loved my bro in law's query when his plate showed up "where's the chicken ?!" it was one of those precious bricks again with a brick of potatoes. imho - where was the color ? where was the bright fresh flavor - this whole farm to table movement is all well and good but the farm i grew up on our veggies, lettuce, baby spinach...even our beef cattle - tasted like real food.

and then, everything was tan or brown on our plates - with the exception of the steak. meh.

dessert was the lemon meringue tart - sis thought it tasted like the fridge and she was probably right. i thought the pate brisee crust was a tad stale.

the restaurant itself was very cool - old home converted into a funky shabby chic restaurant. you know it's shabby when you go to the john, sit down to do your biz and see some sort of pleather (!?) hanging under the sink to hide the wall/ugly ass plumbing fixtures and someone (??who the atch would actually sit on the floor of the bathroom under the sink and do this ?! ) had done graffiti in the part of the two pieces of pleather. what ?!

all in all - we'd go back to drink and maybe have an appetizer if we're in b'more. but the chef would do well to go visit ten ten and see what they're doing because they're getting this thing right.

brewer's art. when we travel i like to find non-chain local handouts. i'm sad this place isn't on the top spots on urban spoon. my husband loves microbrews & this place didn't disappoint. great beer! excellent cocktails! exceptional service & very good food. my kids were treated well & also liked the food. both the valet at our hotel & our cab driver also vetted the place.

extremely good beer! pub food menu portions are on the small and pricey side but still very good. certainly a place to go if you enjoy craft brews and fine dining.

both a restaurant and bar, the brewer's art is a local brewery in baltimore pushing out some nice artisan beer alongside some pretty elegant eats. save a few dollars from the restaurant side and have a look at their bar menu for some great small dishes like this seasonal gnocchi dish. sauteed with pumpkin and greens, it was a quaint little dish that went well with their microbrews.

good, but not "foodies" good. it was a good experience, but not amazing one. ambiance is cozy and can be romantic if it wouldn't be too noisy when the room fills up. food is good portion wise (they are huge), but (though somewhat creative)is too bland for our pallets taste wise. none of the dishes created a craving to come back for it. the prices are reasonable for what you get, but we'd rather to spend this kind of money in places like demi, where the food is much more inventive and delicious, though portions are tapas size.

go for the beer. the food is a bit rich and i've yet to eat anything there that i love. beer is great, basement has a unique atmosphere - however, when it's busy it fills up with an odd combination of today's yuppies and beardos... not exactly the friendly/social crowd. i prefer to go when it's not so busy.

the tale of the brewers art sit in of 2009. one night i went to brewers art to celebrate my brothers birthday with his friends. we of course opted to sit in the lovely upstairs of the bar (in lieu of the dingy nasty lower level). after plinking down way too much money for the admittedly delicious resurrection ale, we were told we had to leave the upstairs (at 11:15pm on a saturday). we were then verbally coerced, abused and physically herded like animals into the crypt-like basement with several other suckers who frequent this place, since there are no good bars in mt vernon. huge turn off. i will never forget it, nor will i ever stop telling this tale every time someone tries to tell me how great it is.

good. beer is good, food is outstanding, and i've always had good service. i usually go downstairs (dive), try to go whenever i'm in baltimore.

is the brewer's art worth all of the hype it gets? 5 full stomachs and 10 thumbs up say yes!

great beer, great bar food...stop there.. i have been to the brewer's art several times for beer and bar food with nothing but good experiences. the last time i went the downstairs was too crowded, so we ate upstairs instead. for the money, i don't think it's worth it. the overall experience is far better downstairs.

beer is stellar.resurrection is truly a fantastic brew. but i only go here for the beer and fun happy hour. service in the restaurant is rude--consistently.

tired of seeing charm city in titles. this bar area of this place is garbage. they need to invest in a light bulb or two. you can be all artsy and cultured if you want to, but if i can't see where i'm freaking walking we have a problem. we grab a seat at the bar and the staff might as well have not been there that night. they were more focused on some little stupid app they downloaded on their trendy iphone. i had a resurrection (hype doesn't live up) or two. figured it would get better as i went, like most beers. it didn't. i was more excited about our next destination that night than anything that happened at the bar. also notice to the slightly overweight asian girl that works there, you are not that hot so focus more on your customers and less on your iphone mirror app.

we first heard about brewer’s art from one of val’s coworkers who told us we had to try the resurrection beer, or res as he said the regulars call it. he was pretty excited when talking about it (and he said the food was good too), so we had to go. going
