bon temps grill

steak wasgood- rest of meal not noteable!. ate here for the 1st time last week. small place, friendly servers. a lot of families were there, which is usually agoodsign. a little loud for my taste, though. we were seated in a corner booth and unfortunately, a speaker was mounted right overhead and the music blared all throughout our meal. could barely carry on a conversation. next time i will request different seating. had the 8 oz sirloin, rare. was cooked perfectly; not a great cut of meat, but not bad. came with two sides and i had the house salad, which was excellent. the balsamic vinaigrette dressing however, made my lips pucker - the vinegar was overpowering. my other side dish was grilled asparagus and the cook killed it. i mean, seriously - it was burnt to a crisp. not what i would call grilled by any stretch of the imagination. i am willing to give the place a second chance, though - so to be fair, i will be back to try it again.

very disapointing. we were looking to try something new in lafayette & saw all thegoodreviews about this place & decided we'd give it a try. things didn't lookgoodfrom the start, we got seated next to a table that the manager was standing at listening to a complaint about the food from the customers sitting there. we shrugged that off & kept an open mind. after we were seated, no one came to wait on us for about 15 minutes. finally the waiter came & took our drink & app order-crawfish stuffed mushrooms. drinks & app came, the mushrooms were ok, under seasoned & not very hot but edible. finished the apps & our drinks & waited for our salads & refills.....& waited, & waited, & waited. 15-20 minutes went by & our waiter finally came back to pick up the empty plate bottle & glass, we asked for refills & the status of our salad, he said they'd be right out.....we waited, & waited, & waited. salad comes out & it was fresh, crisp, & the dressing was good. we wait about another 15 minutes & the server appears, hands me my steak, looks at my husband & says: "did you order food too?" of course he had. a few minutes later the manager appears & apologizes for the inconvenience ' promises his food is coming right out. then the waiter comes out & apologizes for forgetting to place his order. after about 10 minutes, & me being halfway through my entree, his new orleans bbq shrimp come out. my sirloin was cooked well, not seasoned but edible, the disappointment on my plate was the jalapeño cheese grits-they were cold, unseasoned, no jalapeños, & no cheese. my husband's dish was very disappointing, just looking at it you could see the noodles were way over cooked, to the point of them being broken apart. the shrimp were hard & rubbery, as if they had been microwaved. the sauce, this was disgusting, it tasted like watery worshteshire sauce, salt, & garlic-it was (for lack of a better word) gross. my husband is not picky & will normally make the best out of a situation, eat what he can, & leave it at that; this food was inedible. so we call the waiter over, show him the dish & voice our issues, he apologize & goes get the manager. manager comes over, looks at the plate, & immediately says this is unacceptable & apologizes & offers to get my husband anything he wants. at this point, i'm finished eating & he is frustrated so he just declines & asks for the bill. so we pay & walk out, as we are leaving we cross the manager talking to another waitress & we hear the waitress saying: "they both said they were over cooked & sent them back". so apparently another table, that made 3 we know of, was having issues. sad to say but between the poor service & bad food, we will not be back & we will warn people about how bad our dining experience was.

spot on. this place was sogoodand i can't wait to be back through lafayette to eat here again. we had a large group of 14 adults for lunch yesterday and they were so accommodating (we called ahead for seating as advised by hostess.) naturally with a big group we tried quite a few apps, a variety of entrees, and both desserts. the favorite among the apps were definitely the tasso stuffed mushrooms and crab cake--thanks to our server for recommending we try the latter! all of us enjoyed our entrees and portions were large. the menu is super varied but you could tell this restaurant loves food and treats it as a craft.

lots of potential here...give it a try!. my family and i decided to try bon temps grill since it is only a couple of miles from our house. this place has alot of potential! first of all, the staff was very enthusiastic and welcoming. our waiter was just a really nice guy who went out of his way to givegoodservice (wish i could remember his name!). the menu has a lot of variety with some creative dishes which was a pleasant surprise. first, we were served this very garlicky bread which we all loved. my husband ordered the grilled fish and i ordered the crawfish pot pie; we both got the zucchini and the jalapeno grits. my husband thought his fish was verygoodand seasoned well. my crawfish pot pie was so big and not only looked beautiful but it was delicious!!! one minor problem was that it was just above lukewarm in the middle. when a lady came by (a manager maybe???) and asked about our meal, i told her about the issue and she seemed very receptive. now, we did find the zucchini to be disappointing...soggy and bland. also, the grits were very dry and just didn't have much flavor. however, with the eager employees and the excellent service i think the food will only get better! definately worth giving this place a try!

now the entre is crispy red fish. dried.
it's only salvation is the lump crabmeat
the sweet potatoe mash is tasteless
my wife had jerk chicken, grilled?
jalopeno grits are like mmmm. where is the jalopena's?
my son asked for rare steak.... we should have asked for roped live cow

everything was on point. excellent gumbo which was a recommendation from my waiter. i tried the chili honey glazed chicken and it was perfect.goodtexture and cooked perfectly. even the salad was noteworthy. will be back soon. maybe even tomorrow.

our experience here was suburb!. we were greeted by one who we assume was the owner. he recommended a few specials. my husband chose a salad that was accented with their memorable house special bacon. i had the shrimp and tasso fettuccini dish. i am writing this review months after our visit, not something i usually take the time to do, because both dishes were sogoodit's worth the effort. i just wish we lived closer to be able to try other dishes on the menu.

food was delicious and the service was prompt, professional and friendly. verygoodatmosphere. music playing just loud enough to enjoy without drowning our conversation. lacey was especially helpful with suggestions and she was very attentive. crab cake was the best we ever had. will return and recommend to our friends.

for my first dinner in lafayette, i wanted a restaurant specializing in fish, which was also highly rated. finding a fish restaurant here is like finding a mcdonald’s along the highway, but agoodone is a little bit harder to find.  in these parts, there are even restaurants that are open only during crawfish season, which i sadly missed by a couple of months.  you can still order crawfish, but it’s frozen or otherwise preserved from the march to june season.

we ate here with another couple. arrived at around 6:30 pm and the place was packed but luckily no wait. the menu had lots of variety but wasn't too extensive.
i chose the bbq gator stuffed with boudin and cheese. it was delicious. my side was sweet potato mash, which was a little on the cold side, as it was for 2 other people at my table so not sure if it was supposed to be cold, but i don't think so.
their salad dressings are all made from scratch...the honey mustard was really good.
husband got she short ribs and they were so tender and juicy. jalapeño cheese grits were very tasty too.
overall this place isgoodcajun cooking but doesn't overdo it and try to be like other cajun places (prejeans,etc). can't wait to come back and try something else off the menu!

nice surprise. the appetizers were duck legs and alligator legs!
so differnt and unique we loved it.....
also sweet spice sauseges tasted weregoodtreat too.

can't wait to go back.

tried bon temps grill for the first time tonight and it won't be the last. the service wasgoodand the food was very good. even the kids meals were tasty.

all good. servers friendly and attentive,goodselection of food, and everything tasted great.

i have been there 3 times. all 3 times i have had something different. all 3 times the food was really great! :-) all 3 times the service was bad :-( i haven't given up yet though. the food isgoodso i will be back. maybe get lucky next time.

meh. we went on 7/12/14 at 5pm. there were two other tables filled and then us. my husband put in our appetizer order and then after agoodlong wait we had to ask a busser to have our waiter come back out to take our order. the jumbo lump crab cake was delicious but overpriced i think. 1 cake for 12 dollars? people started filling up the place. once our order finally came, my dish was luke warm at best. and the food was ok, but nothing to write home about. i don't know if their staff was just having an off day or what. the table next to us actually had to steal our waiter once we were about to leave as they had been sitting there agood15 minutes still waiting on someone to take their drink order! for the price we paid, i feel we could have gone elsewhere and gotten spectacular food and wonderful service.
