overpriced, underwhelming food. i went here with my fiancé, and the food was medeocre at best. if you are hungry and find yourself here, you will be ok. you won't be thrilled if you've had legitamtely good indian food though, especially when you see how outrageously overpriced the dishes are. just under $20 for one serving of lamb tikka masala? the chunks that we got weren't good cuts of meat. i found it a little tough. the sauce wasn't as savory or creamy as it should have been. the tandoorichickenwas ok. the spices used on it were good, but the (dark meat) pieces ofchickeneither weren't marinated or just weren't marinated long enough to have flavor. i literally are it and thought "this... tastes like chicken." the palak paneer is decent, probably the best part of the meal, so if you stay with the vegetarian dishes, you might be ok. i heard the lunch buffet is pretty inexpensive, so maybe that wouldn't be so bad, but i'm not willing to pay premium prices for medeocre food.

not bad. i was skeptical of trying indian food in alaska as it is hugely popular back home in england and i was unsure as to whether or not it would taste the same. the food was better than i thought it would be and definitely had an authentic flavor however i was pretty surprised by the prices. $17.95 forchickenkorma is overpriced especially as there were only 5 or 6 pieces ofchicken(although they were pretty big chunks). i also thought the naan were over priced $2.95 for a plain one is fine but to jack it up to $4.95 for adding garlic and literally 3 leaves of coriander??? also the poppadoms come with two of the tiniest pots of dipping sauce ever and if you want mango chutney with them you have to pay extra? in every other indian restaurant it comes with it... that's like a mexican restaurant charging for chips and salsa!
overall the food was tasty but i was put off by the prices. i have no issues with paying high prices when the food commands it and is worthy of it but this just wasn't worth it. i doubt i would go back.

very disappointing. on a recommendation from a friend we ordered home delivery. i placed an order at 7.40pm and was told it would come within 45 mins as it was the only order. the order arrived at 8.45pm but it was only the rice, naan bread and panak paneer. we questioned the perplexed driver about thechickenand lamb dish we orderd and he said he would ring the restaurant. we never heard from the driver again.... the restaurant called and said the driver had given the rest of our order to someone else; would we like it redelivered asap? yes, we would, thank you. another call at 9.25pm asking if we had received our order? no, we haven't. oh, well we can't get hold of the driver, can we get someone else to redeliver? yes, please. 9.45pm i call the restaurant again, still waiting, and the restaurant now tells us no we are not sending the order but you can have your order for no charge next time.... no thanks, we want to eat tonight, can we have it free tonight? no, sorry, i can deliver it myself but you will be charged the full price. 2.5 hours after placing our order and still full price. no thanks, and we won't be back. you're dreaming. don't bother.

best indian food in town! i hadn't really tried indian until bombay deluxe, but took a date here and loved it! thechickentikka masala is absolutely amazing. i have it every time now, but the curries are great too. i go here for lunch sometimes for the less expensive buffets, but i also love taking a group of friends here for dinner, and this is where we had my birthday party. awesome!

great curries!. i was raised on indian food, especially curry, so when i moved to alaska several years ago i was excited to find a restaurant up here for me to continue to enjoy my favourite type of cuisine! the curries here are delicious - my boyfriend and i usually get either thechickenmakhani or just plainchickencurry. i would also recommend the samosas, chana masala, and any of the naans! also, 9 times out of 10 (once it was a little chunky for my taste), the mango lassies are delicious as well! -- a must for a spicy curry dish!
they also have a great online ordering and delivery service!

fyi: if you like spice and you're ordering one of the creamy curries such as thechickenmakhani - spice up a level! a medium is pretty mild and the hot is pretty medium!

very enjoyable. my husband and i are new to anchorage. we have both lived all over the world and sampled a lot of excellent food. we were very satisfied with bombay deluxe. our server was lovely, the food was awesome! we had thechickentikka lababdar ($18.95) and the aloo gobi ($12.95), no complaints about either dish. very authentic. the naan was awesome, wanted to try the garlic naan but it was almost $5 for a large piece cut into four slices. it is generally pricey, expect a $30-$40 bill for two people. we will be eating here a lot though, its that good. they also have take-out, delivery and order-online services. the decor is nothing special for upscale prices, also the wine list wasn't exceptionally impressive (but who drinks wine with indian food??).

great indian food!. we've enjoyed the bombay deluxe since they opened. these days we do the lunch buffet. our kids don't like spicy food so they don't eat much. the restaurant always discounts the buffet price for our kids. the adults always make up for what the kids don't eat. the food is so delicious that it's hard to stop. the food has been consistantly good with the exception of the last time we ate there when most of the food tasted like it had sat on a buffett for a few days. we'll be back.
ps: i do miss the cheese cubes in the spinach dish and the pistachios in the rice pudding, but then it is just a buffet. (march 1, 2012 update) we just had the lunch buffet again and i am glad to say the cooks are doing a great job again. everything was delicious. the bbq. chicked was delicious but thechickenin curry sauce was dry and tasteless.

good food. we ate here for the first time thanks to a groupon. we ordered the malai kaftas (vegetable dumplings in cream and nut sauce), paneer kalcha (naan with cheese), and shefta kebab (beef with spices cooked in an onion and pepper sauce). the kaftas were decent, nothing we will likely order again but it tasted fine, though the cream sauce was bland.

the paneer kalcha was excellent, even our two two-year-olds kept asking for more bread.

the kebab was very good - nicely spiced, the meat moist and the onions and peppers in the sauce soft but not overly cooked.

we ordered for take out and realized when we got home that we'd been given somebody's order ofchickentikka masala. we were glad we got it (and i was glad i'd tipped on a take out order) - thechickenwas nicely cooked and spiced, though a tad too spicy for our tastes, so we ate just a bit and saved the rest.

we also got a good amount of basmati rice, which what little i ate was nice and fluffy, not a semi-congealed blog like you usually get at chinese restaurants.

the food is a little pricey (entrees seemed to all start at $13), but worth it for a splurge.

by far the best indian food i've ever had; upon entering the aromas immediately welcomed us with open arms, the spices tantalized us and ushered us into our booth where we were greeted by spectacular service, the decor was fantastic, we hadchickenmarsala, lamb vindaloo and the bread basket. the food was served in wonderful stainless steel and copper bowls, all indivually set in front of us like little tasty treasures, the portions were perfect, we even have enough for dinner! definitely will be returning!!!

give it a try!. i love this place. i was introduced to this place by some coworkers of mine and have been hooked ever since. i love the indian breads. my favorite breads include the garlic naan and the onion kulcha. the bread resembles pita bread and is made in the tandoor (clay oven). right when you walk into the restaurant there are two windows covered with curtains and behind those curtains are the clay ovens. i like watching them prepare the naan. my favorite entree is thechickentikka masala. i love indian curry especially since i'm more familiar with chinese curry. indian curry? so delicious. you have a choice of mild, hot and very hot. i usually get hot or very hot since i love spicy food. their desserts are very delicious and so are their lassias (sweet yogurt drink). their employees are always very pleasant and attentive. great service. i have yet to try their lunch buffet. this is one my favorite places to eat here in anchorage. thumbs up. keep up the good work.

mixed feelings. i have heard, from a number of people, that bombay deluxe is your best bet in town for indian food. my husband and i went for dinner on a friday night. we were seated quickly and our waitress was friendly (at first). we ordered the "sampler plate" for an appetizer. we choose this item because it had a variety and it was the only appy that didn't say that it was deep fried. when the sampler came to our table it was a bowl full of deep fried food. we asked our waitress if this was right? why didn't it state that it was deep fried? my husband got the mix grill (wihich was $24) and i got thechickenbiryani. all the meat in the mix grill was way over cooked and dry (chicken, shrimp, steak, ground meat) my husband ate only a fews bites of each and left the rest of the dish. my dish was very good, great flavor, great portion size. i could tell the waitress noticed that most of our food was not eaten, but not once asked if there was something wrong. instead she seemed to avoid our table and when we paid for the check there was no thank you, have a nice evening. it seemed that she was offended that we didn't eat the food....puzzling. not sure if we will return. was really looking forward to being blown away by the food as we were told we would be.

very disappointed. i called at lunch and inquired about a reservation for seven adults and two highchairs. i was told to show at six that evening. at 5:30, on the way in from the valley, i got a call asking that i come late, and they had an unexpected group and gave our table away. we were a group coming from a few places, and contacting everyone would have been impossible while driving the glenn, so i said we would just wait until he had space. after about 10 minutes of being seated, the owner started taking drink orders. he walked away after the first two alcohol orders, when he returned with their drinks he started to leave, i asked for water, he said his daughter was getting some for the table and he walked away again. what about the rest of the table?? when we flagged him down my husband ordered a sprite, but was told there was no soda since the fountain was broken. i understand things break, but it would have been nice to know. they did have 2-liters of coke, so he did get a drink, but was never given a refill, even when he asked for one.

the menu looked amazing and decisions were difficult. i settled on thechickenkorma. my son asked for the curry, but the owner suggested the milder tiki masala, i appreciated the suggestion. the food arrived after about 20 minutes. we were served one small plate of rice to share with the promise of more as it was needed, but no one came back. we had to track down someone for more. i didnt try the other dishes, but my husband said the lamb curry was outstanding and tender. mychickenkorma was overly mild, but pleasant. sadly it contained, what appeared to be, tinned fruit cocktail. thechickenwas breast meat that was quick-cooked and quite tough. had it been slow simmered in the sauce, the dish would have been amazing. my sons tikki masala was good, but thechickenwas tough, just like mine. the owner suggested the bread basket, which we ordered, and were quite pleased. the naan and kulcha were amazing! like others have said, they are *quite* proud of their food. we had awful service, but 20% tip was built into the bill for us, which averaged to $27 per person. quite steep considering kids were in the party and water was the main beverage.

i realize not everyone grows up eating indian food in hole-in-the-wall family restaurants in big cities, so i am usually forgiving, however, this was a massive fail from almost all directions. i won't be back to dine in, but just may order the bread basket for takeout snacks while in town.
