boardwalk beach restaurant & bar

my partner and i went there for lunch on sunday, it was busy but the staff were very good and our food arrived fast. delicious food - very generous, we ordered bruschetta and fish and chips. i cant believe it took us this long to try such a fabulous restaurant! i assure you we will be back

my partner and i had the absolute pleasure of dining at this restaurant on saturday the 5th of may. we were part of a larger group celebrating his daughters 21st, and we could not have wished for a better place to do that!
the first positive was the venue itself - what a superb setting and location. the area they had arranged for us was set perfectly with fairy lights and tealights on the tables creating a warm, inviting atmosphere.
to add to this each member of staff we dealt with was professional without being standoffish. some of us actually felt we were laughing and chatting with old acquaintances!
then came the food - wow!! we had a set menu with a choice of either chicken, fish or steak. at our table we tasted some of each meal and would've happily had a sample plate of each as it was hard to say which was the best.
i can honestly say we could not find fault with any part of the entire experience and would recommend this restaurant without hesitation!!

ambience was wonderrrful. we went here during our valentines day as it has the best ambience in napier.

big food not done well. great location with lots of potential! service is always amateur - staffed by young people with little training. sad...

i have never had such a terrible experience.
it took about ten minutes to be served and when we finally were it was by a flustered waitress who made me feel as though i was a burden.
once we ordered we waited and waited and waited, when asking where our drinks were they told us they had forgotten them.
when our meals came out after about 45minutes they were cold! and the big breakfast was served with cold white bread!!!! i have never wasted so much money on such a foul meal.

i was promised a free dining experience as a mystery shopper after this...this was about 6 months ago and the owner has never followed up on her offer. not happy!!!

we went for dinner sat night. it was ok. tried to book in for sunday breakfast at 8.30 they said all booked, then someone else said they could fit us in which was great. they open at 8, we got there at 8.20, door locked. finally got in and ordered. orders were two lots of poached eggs on toast, big breakfast and savoury waffle. poached eggs hard, one tiny waffle, mushrooms dry, measly serving of butter, waffle dry. forcing food down as well as we could then noticed a bug. we all stopped eating. told waitress, she said it was a sand fly and left plate there. we told her about eggs as well. offered to make us more. we said we don't have time and didn't want to eat anymore due to bug. it's wasn't a sand fly but a weavel type of bug. she still left plate there. so we left. they only deducted one lit if eggs. we disputed this. but in their eyes the customer was wrong. we will never go back there and will tell everyone we know not to go there.

overall, a great location serving pretty good food, with very nice service.
the menu is quite large, with plenty of offerings for every palate and appetite. the beers on tap are good, and served in great glassware. we enjoyed a few shared dishes, and the thai chilli mussels were more-ish, and we found the salt and pepper squid serving was tasty, and a little lean on the serving size. offers lots of seatings options, both indoor and outdoor. reasonable prices for food and drinks, and a million dollar view of the popular foreshore. a solid 3.5/5

excellent customer service, and and good range menu! stunning views out to sea, and sheltered seats from the wind. i highly recommend this place.

cool restaurant with an awesome ocean view! have been there one a couple of occasions and always enjoyed myself. fries from there are some of the best in the bay!

tried the boardwalk on a wet saturday morning instead of our usual milk and honey across the road and basically we wished we hadn’t.

we ordered the sweet hot cakes (they were more like pancakes and tasted like they had been made from a commercial mix), the bacon and poached eggs on toast (eggs okay, bacon awful and the toast had a weird grainy bits in it and came with cold slabs of butter).

the flat whites were awful but the vanilla milk shakes were good.

service was okay.

we won’t be back

cute spot, big menu, very accommodating for my dietary restrictions! great spunky service and fun dialogue!

we did happen to order the chicken wings (they are breaded) looked delicious but we couldn't eat em... removed quickly and took em off. if i could... i would! but it was fine big portions made our belly's full and happy.

boardwalk burger, protein style, yum!! tacos with pork were decent but the view was out of this world. pulled pork tortilla combo was a bit strange but we will get 2 burgers next time.

i recommend for a view and good food with fun service!

taste just normal but very slow, we ordered a seafood plate but feeling like they just bought sth from supermarket and fried it, taste also old oil......and this dessert really makes me angry, custard was inside chocolate sth, totally taste weird, waitress never say sorry but can be refund money that's it... service really not good, maybe because public holiday nobody wanna working on this day i can understand, but this restaurant i won't come second time, very disappointing. 还没来尝试过的朋友建议不要来了，服务态度极差，食物也很差，不值那个价钱，点了菜里面还缺斤少两，明明点了海鲜拼盘但是没有青口，

lovely place to sit by the ocean! primo food, fast and friendly service. so much choice on the menu and even though some things can seem a bit pricy you do get a decent serving for your money. i only ordered one of the cheaper meals ($16 fish tacos) but it was quite decently sized and included fries too. will be coming back here next time i’m in napier!

very enjoyable meal, i had the chicken stir fry with hoikken noddle which was one of the chefs specials for the week. the flavour was delicious and was pleasant on my taste buds. the service was ok but nothing special. my step fathers fish and chips where slightly under cooked and my mother's chowder didn't have many shrimps. my only other complaint is that there weren't many vegetarian options for my sister. she ended up having and buger with no patty which she says was ok. overall we all did have a good time

went in to have a coffee with the family. venue was beautiful but the illusion was shattered by the awful service. the lady who "welcomed" us couldn't even muster a smile and our coffees and glasses of water were almost thrown onto the table. the lady who dropped off an extra container of hot water had already turned to go before it settled on the table. when it came time to pay we were waiting at the desk for anyone to say anything before being brushed off by a "just a minute" and a flip of a menu.it was so bad that it was funny. at least the view was lovely.
