boardwalk beach restaurant & bar

good quick service. the steak and chicken parmigana were great. staff all very polite and the restaurant has different areas to choose where to dine, and you don't feel crowded.  would go back for another meal.

we stopped here for drinks and a snack. while the service here was great, the seafood platter that we ordered didn't come as described, and several more components than expected were breaded and fried some were a little disappointed. the fries had an interesting seasoning on though, and portions were generous.

friendly service and great location. the food didn't meet expectations. we had a long wait for the mains with 1 arriving 10mins after everyone else. seared scallops undercooked, fish of the day dry over cooked, beef & oyster pie had one oyster. wouldn't recommend

incredible service, even during a busy time. they put in the extra effort whenever possible. food just melted in your mouth. couldn't recommend any more.

i ordered the pork belly warm salad with homemade asian sauce on saturday and it was basically inedible. the pork belly was deep fried in bread crumbs which was unpleasant. i think the asian sauce was just oyster sauce with a dash of sweet chilie. it was so overpowering the salt content hurt my mouth.  the sauce was slathered over everything and pooled in the bottom of the dish so nothing could be reclaimed. the waitress seemed to be having a hard day (casual and blunt) and when i paid and gave feedback, she was disinterested. best thing about the experience was the company (only 1 out of 4 thought their meal was ok - one was a fish burger with the smallest piece of fish it barely covered half the bun if that) and the wine. overpriced, under-delivered.

called in, looked at menu. rang back later and asked for booking for 3pax next day, inside but with views.
arrived on time next day, table was exactly what i'd asked for. staff friendly, and helpful. drinks, menus, ordering and meals served - all very timely. staff were flat out bringing groups in and out due to weather but it all happened with smiling faces. the team here are well trained and happy in their work!!
food was very good, and as ordered. views and location brilliant. a really good experience!!
will certainly go back again if the opportunity arises.

we are not local people and travel to napier frequently as we enjoy the ambiance napier has to offer. we always book a table for dinner every time we travel to napier. this night we invited six friends who were also travelling to napier to join us. the night was a nightmare!! when we arrived we were told there was no paua, pork belly as a main or beef wellington. the waiter took our orders. three of us had pork belly as an entry, it was disgusting. it was deep fried in breadcrumbs and the roast vegetables underneath were so burnt we couldn't eat them. then the mains finally arrived what a circus. one of our party ordered a steak when he finally got it was very cold, this was sent back to the kitchen and his original steak was returned to him after it had been microwaved. another person ordered the fish of the day, which arrived so undercooked he couldn't eat it. i ordered the spicy seafood hotpot. that was totally disgusting. it was lumpy tomato soup not spicy at all with a very small piece of fish, two mussels 3 king prawns and a lobster claw swimming it. i had to get my fingers into the soup to fish out the muscles and prawns which were dry and not fresh tasting and there was no tool given to me to open the cray leg. by the time the matradee came to our table to explain her way through our nightmare of an evening all our food was cold and returned to the kitchen virtually uneaten. i do not recommend this as a restaurant to go to. it is well overpriced and the food is unpalatable which is a huge disappointment as the scenery from the restaurant is spectacular. what a total waste and such a shame that the restaurant has nose dived the way it has. it used to be one of the best, if not top 5 places to eat in napier.

dined here with fmy family and not overly impressed. i note with interest that the restaurant has had a bit of a revamp and so have the prices! when paying $33 or more a main i expect something special and i don't feel they delivered on this - the food was ok, certainly nothing special. also one waitress just a bit too coarse and casual for my liking.

thought this would be a nice place to eat on my friends birthday judging by the photos but boy i was wrong. ordered a seafood platter to share and instead of scallops they served mini dogs and chicken nuggets, wtf!! waitress tried saying they were extras but were trying to cover up the fact they were a replacement for the missing scallops. not very impressed. had a replacement meal of scallops but that was filled with rocket and onions and had no flavor. no offers of a complementary drink or meal, had to pay full price. i will never go there again. why would they have scallops in the second meals but had none for the platter?? weird!

my parents and i went here for the first time for dinner and it was incredible. the food was great, i especially loved the scallops. the salad was to die for and their beef wellington was really nice. everything was hot when it came out and the staff were friendly and didn't rush us or keep coming over. it was good and i personally think the food is worth the price. the wait time was normal for a busy restaurant and the view was great!
all round it was a really nice dinner and ill definitely go back again when i'm in napier ! :)

this is an awful place to eat, like others i bought a deal voucher which advertised a seafood platter… it was not a seafood platter!! all the food was old… i would never eat here again and urge others not to… it was terrible. i complained to the manager and was told that the grapes sometimes get "sprayed" and that's why green grapes had gone brown!!! she offered to get more grapes… not a refund… not food that was edible… just more old grapes!!!

had a family lunch with 3 small kids.
all meals were cold, completely cold and took an hour for the first course to arrive.
seafood was over cooked and was served unopened clams.
salads were greasy.
i don't believe they know what service with a smile means.
very expensive also just to top it off.
i must state this is first time i have ever left a review as we had such a bad experience

seriously .....i bought a deal voucher ...120 dollars value for 60...as a thank you for a friend. this was advertised as a christmas seafood platter.
the seafood consisted of day old offerings...clams were gritty with sand and canned? fish was that tuna or mackerel no taste, the grapes pickled onions watermelon strawbs...were resting on a thick bed of rocksalt...red cabbage and thick slices of capsicum in the prawn cocktail...not a homemade sauce in sight nor a lemon...it was covered in ritz crackers.
what a sori confusion... what relevance does all that fruit have? pathetic

nathan. went for lunch with the family 4 kids and for 4 adults service staff good but had to wait for meal but worth the wait great value for money. was looking for some great seafood for a evening meal around napier only place was the broadwalk we booked lucky arrived with the gang again a wait but we ordered the antipasta for starters the fishermans basket for 4 and the cold seafood plate for 4 . the meals came out enough to feed a army but fresh and great . if you're in napier must go sit back enjoy and don't worry about the wait
