energizing experience. omaha has come a long way, but blue is one of those places that makes you feel like your anywhere but in omaha. the vibrant atmosphere includes unique features like a giant fish tank and infused vodkas that decorate the bar. usually they have a surfing movie playing on a large projector screen, which also aids the feeling that your in a coastal city, rather than in the middle of the country. blue's cuisine has grown with omaha. several years ago it seemed to appeal more to the masses. now you can find much more specialized fish and offerings. i recently discovered black escolar (marinated tuna). it was buttery, tasty and marinated in a special mix by blue. each visit in the past few months gets me closer and closer to thegreatsushi i've become accustomed to during my frequent trips to the west coast. the old market location is always packed upstairs during happy hour. so if big crowds aren't your thing, stick to the dining room on the main floor.
