not worth it. i've been here several times because it's a trendy and popular place for my friends to meet but i always leave feeling frustrated. service is consistently horrible and they act like it's a hassle to have you in their restaurant. almost every time i've been there the sushi has been served on common plates and then it'll take another 20 minutes to get individual plates (after you had to ask because they weren't brought out). you end up just staring at yourfoodfor the majority of the time. good luck flagging a server down to refill your water or get another drink, i usually sit through the meal parched. i'm not sure if they're just severely understaffed or what's more likely from my experience, the servers are gossiping around the hostess stand.

the happy hour specials are reasonable but regular prices are pretty high for mediocre sushi, and they won't split the check so you have to figure it out for yourself. if you don't know much about sushi you might think this is ok stuff but if you eat sushi regularly i wouldn't suggest it. my advice is: go to hiro. prices are a little higher but the sushi is much better and the service is fantastic. you'll get a quality experience for the price you pay.

let me start off saying im not one to care enough to write reviews whether good or bad but this was so irritating. my first impression with blue is shot with the staff except whoever is making thefoodis excellent. me and my party got seated fairly quickly because we called and reserved for ourselves day prior. cool, brownie point there. then after meeting our waiter and being seat im sure what seemed to be a manager moved us from our semi booth table to a regular table which being polite i agreed because he said he'd take care of us and push a smaller table to ours (we were waiting on two other ppl but they really could have grabbed one of the extra chairs by entrance door). but shortly after the table got seated next to us so i had to flag him down to say hey you said this and that. n i really hate being the one to be an ass and be that customer. so they fixed that then he was polite and said he'd take some things off our check. not only did they not take off anything off they also split out checks wrong even after telling out wattress what we ordered to make sure it was split correctly. communication is key and they failed that so hard with the staff and most importantly the customer. we tipped but i wish i honestly gave it too the cook who made ourfoodwhich was delicious. i really wanted to like the ppl but you bumped my table, had to flag you down and you split checks wrong. it was busy i give them that but i have a cust. serv job as well and it gets busy and i always make sure communication is there and try to be as 100% with the customer in front of me. its okay to slow it down to get it right guys! i will give them one more shot cause thefoodbut next time i wont be tipping no one but the cook if its as good as this meal was.

amazing. happy hour was perfect. great "american" twists on old time favorites. there are plenty offoodchoices and drinks for every taste. the sake martinis were delicious. personally, i had the philadelphia roll, blue balls, hawaiian roll, popper, and the mango-crab rangoon.

i recommend going for happy hour to limit cost. the service was okay but thefoodtook a while to come out. the quality and the drinks were worth the wait. i came back for dinner and didn't care for the added price and the loud downstairs seating area.

disgusted with the way we were treated.. we have been going to blue since i moved to omaha 3 years ago. it was one of my favorite places for happy hour or to get dinner with friends when they came in town. after yesterday, i will never be back to their downtown location. we walked in with a party of 7 adults, a child, and a 3 month old. we chose to sit dowstairs and pay full price (even though they had happy hour all day upstairs). we ordered our apps and sushi rolls at the same time, as we had been there numerous times before and knew that sometimes there was a bit of a wait for items from the sushi bar. my father then checked in on facebook and tagged the rest of our group in the post. about a half hour later our lettuce wraps arrive. quite a bit later, we began to wonder where the rest of ourfoodwas. we checked facebook, and my father had checked in to blue, after we had ordered ourfoodone hour and six minutes ago. it was then we asked to talk to a manager. about five minutes later a genntleman came up, holding our ticket, and asked what the problem was. if that wasn't insulting enough, as we were trying to explain why we were frustrated, he shrugged and actually walked away. at no point was , disrespectful, or loud. we were just simply trrying to point out that in the time we were waiting, three other tables had been sat, received their food, and paid while we were still waiting with our food. not only were we offered no explanation, other than "your ticket only shows a 36min ticket time" we weren't even afforded the courtesy of the manager listening to our complaint. i even had to follow the manager up to the sushi bar to request our tab for the 2 apps we had received, so we could pay, tip the server, and leave. it was at that point that he offered two $25 gift cards for a future visit. honestly, at that time it was too late to salvage things. we were a table who thought nothing of spending $200 on sushi (at full price), only to be completely disrespected by the manager. we left, went to another sushi place downtown, tipped well and left the 2 gift cards with our server as we will never be back to blue. i find it difficult to comprehend how owners of a an expanding restaurant concept (the multiple blue locations as well as plank) would allow management to treat their guests with such disrespect is beyond me. too bad, thefoodand drinks there are great.

not impressed. i had high expectations based on the rave reviews i had heard about blue. however, i don't think it lives up to the hype. my party of 5 was told there was a 45 min wait so we decided to walk around the old market to waste time. we were pleasantly surprised when we received a text that our table was ready after only about 15 min, not too bad considering it was still happy hour. we sat upstairs and our order was taken right away. and then we waited and waited and waited. thefoodtook way too long for the amount we ordered. the sushi was good but not great. i would have been disappointed had we paid full price but with the happy hour pricing, it wasn't too bad. we ordered the blue balls, philadelphia roll, crunchy la, crunchy blue, spicy sake, and crab rangoon. i am no sushi expert, but i was not a huge fan of any of the rolls i tried. all of the sauces seemed way too sweet for my taste. even the crab rangoon was sweet with some mango flavor. i definitely prefer other sushi restaurants, especially considering there are 3 others within walking distance.

worst service last night. manager on top floor chastising me for daring to take an open table, open seating at that time. friend gets drink spilled on him, waitress doesn't bother to bring round of drinks i ordered and we have to get up, find her to order anything. ended up canceling drinks andfoodso we could leave. she doesn't say anything but throws our cards at us on table. used to be regular but our group will never return again. hiro all the way!

theirfoodis good and i always had a positive experience sitting in the upstairs lounge area, but tonight i went there for a date and my waiter was pompous and rude. we were at first the only customers downstairs, yet we did not receive a single water refill. when i ordered the rainbow roll and my boyfriend ordered another roll the waiter told me these were boring choices and asked why i wanted them. i told him i always order the rainbow roll because i just like it and share one with whoever i am with. he rolled his eyes and told me he would put spicy crab in the middle and remove the cucumber to make it better. at this point i was tired of listening to him and agreed. later he bragged of his sushi genius when he asked and i told him the roll was okay. he did not say thank you nor have a nice evening. i will not be returning knowing this is the service they are willing to provide.

perfect birthday luncheon. i decided to treat myself to a sushi lunch for my birthday. blue had emailed me a $10 off coupon for my birthday, so the stars aligned just right for me,
blue is undeniably a gorgeous place to eat...or drink. i sat at the sushi bar, and was presented with both the lunch menu and a sushi menu. i started with a coconut crab curry soup. it took a while to arrive, but was absolutely delicious! honestly, it was worth eating at blue just for the soup.
the sushi came after another somewhat long spell of time. i ordered two rolls off of the classic sushi menu. they were each a bit pricier than at other sushi places, but the sushi was worth the wait. they offered me optional other dipping sauces to go with the sushi, and i tried one...sorry i cannot recall which one. it added an interesting flavor to my dining experience.
service was friendly. the restaurant was fairly busy. this wouldn't be my go-to place if i was in a hurry for lunch, or on a budget. however if you want a leisurely, delicious dining experience, and have some money to burn, blue should satisfy your sushi cravings.

hoppin'. blue is one of omaha's most popular restaurants, and it is easy to see why. both main floors of the gorgeous old market location sizzle on weekends with throngs of mostly 20 and 30 somethings. blue has an energy that tends to self perpetuate, regardless of what thefoodquality might be.
fortunately, thefoodat blue is very good.
we were part of a wedding reception up on the 3rd floor, and enjoyed a buffet featuring chicken, salmon, sides and four kinds of sushi rolls. the salmon and veggies were delicious, but i really love sushi, and it was all very tasty.
a waitress stopped to chat with us, saying that we really need to come back and sample some of the more adventurous sushi and sashimi dishes. i plan to take her up on the offer.

not as great as expected. i went here for my birthday and it was defintly not as great compared to all the noise i had heard about this place. sushi was average and the drinks were not at all great. it was almost as if my margarita had no tequila. the service was terrible the server probably came around twice. it was just not good. will defenitly not be going back unless someone else wants the company and will pay for thefoodbecuase i wouldn't spend any money on this place

go for the drinks, not the sushi. i think that the only merit in the blue chains is that they have a pretty decent happy hour drinks, and it's open late, and on sundays. their drinks are decent and the atmophere can be fun, although i think sometimes it feels like they are trying too hard to be a "cool" bar/restaurant. i think, while i would say it can be a fun place to go for happy hour/reverse happy hour, theirfoodis pretty lame, especially the sushi.

if you're going there for happy hour drinks, then it won't disappoint, but their sushi is by far some of the most poorly prepared in omaha. it seems like because they have enough people coming through their doors for happy hour, they don't spend time creating high quality sushi.

if you are going to happy hour to get sushi, your money would be better spent at other sushi places with better sushi and similar happy hour deals (aka matsu, sakura bana)

those who remark that their sushi is awesome probably haven't had sushi at many other places. while they have a few fun rolls, they definitely don't make anything that reaches the flavor level of other establishments in omaha. i would recommend sakura bana or matsu if you're looking for great, authentic sushi prepared with care.

tip: doa. the two of us tried blue sushi before heading off to a concert. seeing that there were some empty tables we assumed that there wouldn't be a problem getting our order in a reasonalbly amount of time. wrong!! after 40 minutes from ordering, and asking when ourfood(small order) would come, then we were informed the sushi chefs were running behind. our waitress knew of our plans but seemed not to be concerned with our belated dinner, and ultimately, her very small tip. all it would have taken was some courtesy, and even benign interest in our order. we were late getting to our concert. our waitress's attitude cause her tip to be dead on arrival of our visit. by the way, eating the sushi in a hurry caused major indigestion. excuse me!
