blossom was decent food but fairly overpriced and with poor service. the waiter took a long time to take our drink orders, waited too long to return to take appetizer and entree orders, and was slow to refill drinks as well. he also completely forgot to enter one appetizer and entered an entree incorrectly which caused one person in the party to receive their meal 3-4 minutes after everyone else.
the food was decent but nothing spectacular. our group shared raw oysters and fried calamari; both were pretty standard and nothing to rave about. i ordered the carolina mountain trout, which was cooked nicely but lacked any significant flavor. the crawfish and lima bean succotash accompanying it was nothing to rave about either, and i was not a fan of the tomato remoulade sauce. all in all the food was average, the service was mediocre, and i would recommend other restaurants in the area over blossom.

awesome food though i must complain that if you don't make a reservation first they just throw you outside on this small patio space where at around 5 the sun is unbearable! but food was good!

good food, nice atmosphere. i went for lunch and had a difficult time choosing what i wanted to order because everything sounded so good, but i was very happy with the lamb sausage pizza i settled on. the interior was light and airy with a beautiful vaulted barn-style ceiling. i will be back.

love the outdoor seating. i had the fish tacos. while tasty, a bit heavier than i would have excepted. fried tortilla, fried fish with cheese sauce. i couldn't even eat both. next time i will have something else. the fries with the rosemary seasoning were really good.

waited over 20 minutes and not even served a drink. sat 10 minutes before greeted by a server. the server had a terrible attitude and pretty much invited us to leave, which we did. the manager let us walk out without a word. we are guests at market pavilion hotel, and the concierge will know all about our horrible encounter at this restaurant to save other guests the inconvenience. this is a busy place living off a reputation that is no longer deserved. if you value service, stay away!

nice bar, good restaurant

we spent some time at the bar first and took advantage of their happy hour to try several things. we enjoyed many of the signature cocktails as guided by the helpful bartender. happy hour food is quite nice. my only complaint would be $1.25 each for the tiniest raw oysters i’ve ever seen.

we made our way into the main dining room and had good success with our meals. the she-crab soup and the house salad were only ok. the blackened catfish, mahi-mahi, shrimp and grits, and scallops were all delicious entrees.

prices were fair (except for the tiny oysters) and the setting is very nice.

i wish i was more impressed with blossom than i am.  last couple of times have been disappointed.  it's not that the place is dirty or poorly run (it's beautiful), or that the wait staff are bad (in my experience, they're great), but the food just seems overprices (but it's downtown chs, so what should i expect?!).  went there most recently with spouse, 2 kids (3 and 6) and in-law.  it's great that an upmarket restaurant caters to kids (provided crayons and coloring paper, as well as a child-specific menu).   and i'm not sure whether to be grateful or upset that they seated us next to a table of 6 inebriated and extremely noisy older adults who really should have had a private room rather than deafening me.  but the biggest disappointment was the food.  my "fall salad" was over-dressed and my shrimp and grits over-seasoned.  (and what possible excuse is there for inadequate shrimp and grits in charleston?!)  my mil made all the appropriately southern-belle-like noises but barely touched her (trout special) entree, and my spouse wasn't even impressed with the fried chicken (but maybe it had been a food-stuffed and long day already...).  my kids, on the other hand, loved their food (hamburger and really good fries, and basic but very yummy cheese pizza). in any event, will likely avoid blossom in favor or the myriad other new and new-to-me restaurants until somebody pushes me to return...

had dinner saturday night with the family at blossoms.  this was our first time going there but won't be the last.  the service was excellent, very friendly and professional.  the food was excellent and the best we have had in a long time.  the presentation of the food was so pleasing to the eye.  the fried green tomatoes as an appetizer was excellent.  all of us ordered something different and everyone was very pleased with their dinner.  excellent food, excellent service, and excellent ambiance.  definitely a favorite of ours.

while we did stay (a little) on the lighter side of dishes with fresh salads of jumbo lump crab tostada, we did also add to our lunch a couple of appetizers of the she crab soup and boiled peanut hummus – both worthy of a revisit.

wine snafu ruined my experience. the food was excellent, ambiance nice, and the service first rate. unfortunately, i left with a bad taste in my mouth, no pun intended. i asked if they had a house chardonnay. they did, but when we got the bill, it was $11 a glass. the most expensive wine on the menu. i had 2 glasses. the menu at our b&b said the house wine was $5 a glass. won't be back.

wonderful food, great atmosphere. this was the first restaurant we tried when we arrived in charleston, and we were not disappointed!

we started out with the lump crab cakes. oh my goodness were they delicious. quite possibly the best crab cakes i've ever tasted. they were quite tender and covered in a delicious cream sauce served with flavorful asparagus. for dinner, we both ordered wood fired pizzas. i had the meat lovers, and my husband ordered the lamb sausage. mine was excellent. not an overwhelming amount of meat, and plenty of delicious veggies as well, like black olives and banana peppers, my favorite. my husband's was great too, as it was topped with a creamy feta and sundried tomatoes. our server was very nice, polite, and quick with refills. the restaurant itself was airy and romantic, with a nice atmosphere.

we will definitely be back the next time we are in charleston. what a great first place to try!

celebrating great memories with a great meal. blossom is one of my favorite restaurants in downtown charleston. the menu is great, the food is absolutely delicious, and the service is fantastic.

my grandfather recently passed away. he and the rest of my family always made a big deal of birthdays, so when his came on august 12, i decided to celebrate rather than spend a sad night in. my husband and i went to blossom, and i found comfort celebrating the life of this wonderful man at a restaurant that he would have loved.

i had the mahi special, which was beyond fabulous (flaky and meaty at the same time), served over a risotto that was a perfect complement. for dessert, my husband and i split the southern sundae, and i just have no words to describe it. i dream about that dessert. paps would have approved. :-)
