what a pleasant experience.. if you're looking for something out of the ordinary this is it... food was amazing! you must go there hungry because they serve real soul food.. from a meaty type platter to your normal farmhouse breakfast they do it.. nice touches with fudge with your coffee and very friendly services.. i can recommend this place if you are in the area or in the mood for something else. go for it!

i am not easily impressed to this extent, but this little gem absolutely blew my mind.

my best friend and i had a little dinner date on their half price curry night special (yay mondays) and it was one of the best meals i've ever eaten. so creamy with juuuust the right amount of burn 😍🔥 the flavours were light and gentle with an added kick, the best kind of combo! and let's not even get started on how freaking fabulous our waitress was - i would literally go back just to chat to her. so friendly and warm from the get-go, she even asked us if she could help take our photo so we could remember the night (our selfie was struggling) and went over and above to be prompt and swift with anything and everything we needed.

today goes down as the worst service (from start to finish) that i have received this year. i assure you that this is not a sweeping statement and to date i have reviewed over 786 restaurants using zomato. shocking, shocking, shocking service and food! 

service:
so i will start with how the booking process went for this lunch:
thursday 11 may: i emailed xanie at blos. after seeing the r350 set lunch menu, i asked for a table to be booked, and used the banking details to pre-pay for our lunch for four (as per her instructions). 
the next day, i confirmed using the restaurant mobile (0824662857) and got a reply stating that the proof of payment had been received and my booking was confirmed. imagine my surprise on sunday 14 may, when we arrived (excited) to start off my special mother's day lunch with family, to no booking and no record of my name or payment. 
 
from there the day just got worse and worse..during our lunch, we were served by an assortment of eight different people (ellen, william, lawrence, tino...) who assisted very little today, knew nothing about their menu or customer service, and who did their best to not make eye contact with anyone trying to get their attention for service.  
i personally got up three or four times myself to ask for a glass of wine or to order my partner a beer or just ask them to clear the plates. 
service-wise, to end off our lengthy and disjointed mother's day lunch, we all gave up waiting for our bill for the drinks (after roughly fifteen minutes) and physically walked to where the bills are generated only to have them try to charge me again for our meals. 

the only thing that actually made us laugh during this atrocious service was the fact that the poor table of eight behind us (who had a sense of humor about the poor service that they were receiving) eventually started asking the staff if they were "the invisible table".

food: 
to start i selected the salmon roses.  (i will let the photo speak for itself but these salmon roses were more compacted rice and mayo than salmon by any means). 
for mains i selected the lamb bredie served with more rice.
for dessert i selected the malva pudding. this dry square arrived with what looks like cold ultramel custard. 
very seldom am i speechless, but i will instead let my photos speak for the pathetic meal that we experienced for r350 per person. 

*recommendation: the only recommendation that i have is to avoid this restaurant. i feel sorry for anyone booking this restaurant and more importantly regret booking it for my special mothers day lunch.

beautiful venue, lovely atmosphere. went for breakfast with clients, and it was really well presented and tasty. the service was great and prices fair. loved the interesting options.

wow what a night! we were greeted by a friendly hostess and a warm glow from the beautiful fire place. for starters we had the salmon carpaccio with wasabi dressing- delightful!!!! definitely my new favourite! for mains we had the valentine burger. my husband orders burgers wherever we go but this one was chart topping! the best he's ever had! with the guacamole, glazed bacon, dukkah dusted onion ring and melted brie cheese, what a revelation! finished it of with the blos malva pudding. although this is one of the local favourites, blos took it to the next level! moist spongy caramelized texture with hot custard...amazing!!! the ambience and atmosphere is warm, stylish and exquisite. thank you for making it a memorable evening!

stopped for lunch on the weekend. i had the bobotie burger which was sooo good. it’s lovely to sit outside and it’s not in a parking lot but rather beautiful trees etc.
the only down side is that the service was a bit slow and we waited a bit long for the food.

visited blos on a chilly may saturday morning for brunch. didn't make a reservation so ended up being sat outside. i'd asked our waiter to try and find us seating inside in case a table became open. we were there for over two hours, not once was i given any feedback on this request. also, my coffee order...

the outside (smokers area) is a bit dull, no music and in desperate need of something vibrant...

my friend had the salmon salad, this was utterly disappointing and over priced (r90+ for basically a plate full of salad leaves)... we reported this to the manager and he replaced her salad with the gnocchi. this was more to her liking.

i ordered a hamburger, which i enjoyed. the hamburgers seems to be on the better side out of similar restaurants / cafes in pretoria.

the scenery at blos is so serene and they made such good use of the environment, the seating inside looks out on the trees and then there is a beautiful deck. had a fillet steak with a mushroom port sauce and braai broodjies as a side, delicious! the waitress was so friendly and helpful, all and all a fantastic lunch

blos is surely one of the great places in pretoria east to visit. not only will you be seated indoors in a very contemporary setting with amazing lighting, but outside offers you a dining experience that feels like you are brushing the tree tops. their menus have all the farmiliar options yet innovative, decadent and gives you a different experience. they’ve got lovely breakfasts that range from traditional to a few new experiences. their mains on offer is anything from hearty oxtail to grilled delicacies, red meat, poultry and off course lovely platters and desserts. i have enjoyed the beer board and it’s a good one. service is swift, waiting staff dressed neatly and their attention to detail, meticulous. well done blos team, you’ve won a fan! to everyone who haven’t been to blos…. go! now!

serene spot that felt like a calm in the middle of pretoria! a bit on the pricey side.. but their breakfast tasted good. enjoyed the fresh juices.

blos has always been a wonderful place to go and i always have a good time, however i got food poisoning from there this morning from their pepperoni ciabatta.

on friday night we decided to finally try out blos and it seems it was only the first of many to come. really good food and excellent service. well worth many more visits. the eisbein alone was more than worth it.

following blos on facebook for a while with nice fotos and comments from the public so we had to try. the inside dinning area feels a bit like grandma's house but the outside patio with surrounding trees are awesome. the food....if you order a pepper steak pie, the star of the dish should be the pepper steak, and it was. but if you order the beef fillet pizza, one very small piece of steak per slice is clearly not making the steak the star. tomatoes and cheese. sure will visit again....
