came for dinner on a sunday night and the ambience was warm and pleasant.servicewas minimal but efficient. absolutely loved the chickpea pancake; like a flavoursome pizza. and the coconut tapioca dessert is a must! great place to come with a few friends where it's quiet enough to chat and staff won't bother you too much!

yummy cocktails and cool vibe. cute date place - my bf and i loved all the music they were playing. lovelyserviceand yummy food. only thing that wasnt standout was the polenta chips - ive had better. was surprised that 'share plates' were actually quite generous in size. all in all a place that id return to.

what's the bloody fuss about. the food and cocktails are creative and interesting. theservicewas good. the decor, i think, was trying way too hard to be industrial chic and not hard enough to be comfortable (those chairs pinch!).

would i go again?only if i didn't have to wait more than an hour for a table i was told would be ready in half that time!

not deserving what you pay. we had a banquet menu with a group of friends. the food did not have the taste. soms dishes literally tasted the same. secondly theservicewas horrible. since we stepped into the restaurant, the negative vibe was given by the head waiter and followed by the other ones. not worth. you won't get the worth what you pay.

this restaurant has been here for years in newtown but this was our first visit. we had a great time here on friday night. bothserviceand dishes were excellent and will definitely return.

ordered the marinated olives, fried chicken, goldband snapper ceviche, chickpea pancake, cauliflower, chocolate torte, donut and the filter coffee. everything was so unique and flavourful. 

theserviceis impeccable. this place feels like fine dining.

food was good.servicewas unpleasant, insincere and slightly obnoxious. they needed to be more attentive or work better as a team, as you were made to feel like you were annoying if you had to ask for something because they had forgotten about it.

i have been wanting to try this restaurant since it opened - finally made it but was so disappointed. the food didn't stand out at all,servicewas average and the food took ages in between dishes.

not sure why there’s so many negative reviews here for bloodwood... we dined as a group of 15 on a saturday night for a birthday celebration and enjoyed all the banquet menu items! the cuttlefish curry was beautifully cooked and fried chicken was delicious. portions were also just perfect and had us very satisfied at the end of the night!servicewas great, staff was very accommodating with our group (even with pram situations we had!). we also brought a cake which they happily served to us and no cakeage charged! loved this place and i’m sure i’ll be back!

we had dinner here last night, we had the cured duck salad with black rice, delicious, juicy duck full of flavours; the socca, a chickpeas flat bread covered in roasted cauliflower, filling and really good. we finished with the wagyu steak with spatzle and chimichurri. the steak was perfect, i personally didn’t love the mushroom puree it came with. greatserviceand casual atmosphere. will go back to try more dishes!

normally not one to leave a review.. but i have never received such badservicein my life. i turned up with 10 guests for my birthday last friday only to be rudely told our table wasn't ready and we had to wait on the street. when i came to ask for an update i was told i was "wasting time" by asking. the woman had the worst attitude i have ever experienced from someone in hospitality, and i was extremely embarrassed at the way she spoke to me and my guests.

after waiting 30 minutes on the street and spoken to like we were a frustration to them, we decided to leave and i had to bring my guests back home and order pizza.

if you were running late a simple call or email would have saved a lot of pain. bloodwood you ruined my birthday with your horrible hospitality and i will never ever be back.

i ordered the polenta chips and fried chicken. the polenta chips were overwhelming but the fried chicken was pretty average.servicewas good overall.

bloodwood was a great experience all round. seems to always be busy as they don’t take bookings for groups under 8, and will not seat you until everyone in your party has arrived. once seated though, we received greatservicefrom a lovely man who seemed to be looking after the second floor.

to start we ordered some cocktails. i actually didn’t hear what my friend ordered otherwise would have gone with something else for more variety, but what an amazing choice the riced vovo was! it was definitely up there with one of the best cocktails i have tried. and it was a pretty pink which was a bonus too. must order this!

for food we went with the heirloom tomato salad, tuna, cauliflower, and sesame mushrooms. everything was very well done and tasty, although some more so than others. the fried cauliflower was probably not as great as i expected, as there are quite a few places that do this dish, and they do it well. in that sense it was not a new flavor i had not tried before. tuna was very refreshing but you will also be able to find this elsewhere. in saying this, they were still very tasty and you won’t be disappointed if ordering these dishes.

tomato and radicchio was surprisingly a memorable dish as we didn’t have too high expectations. all the ingredients were very fresh and the garlic groutons were the winning topper. i personally loved the mushrooms the most – the combination with wakame and daikon were superb and this asian style dish elevated this meal to another level. yum!

bloodwood was well rounded and there are plenty more options to try. i believe we had success with each thing we ordered and think this is a place highly worth checking out. but try and get there early so you don’t have to wait too long!

good food and good friendlyservicebut it just lacked something. courses came way too fast. don't think i would bother going back - there are too many really good places to dine.

went to bloodwood on a saturday night with some girlfriend's. we seemed to have arrived at the time they start getting busy 6-6:30pm. we requested a table for 3ppl and was told to wait at the bar, we ordered some wine and everything was really good. but once we where seated everything seemed rushed and the waiters where very pushy and constantly reminding us that they needed the table by 8:30pm.
although the food was great. we ordered the semolina chips, scallops, fried chicken, pork belly with crab & the burramandi .... everything was yummy but the disappointment was really in theserviceand feeling rushed we didnt stay for dessert althought we initially had planned to.
