closer to a 3.5 but food was overall good. grilled octopus was lacking in size, only a 6 or 7 small pieces. burrata was really good

there's been a lot of hype and chatter about this place, so after an afternoon at the oh really! gallery, it was a shot to see whether we could score a table. luckily enough we did, even though it meant being seated downstairs in the dungeon so there was a little loss of ambience.. all the dishes are designed to share, so after contributions around the table - we settle with some fried bean curd rolls, crispy chicken wings and the much foursquare promoted polenta chips with gorgonzola. the fried bean curd rolls were a favourite and resembled a fried dim sim with a crispy outer and a meaty ball of crab, pork and shitake mushroom on the inside. the not so favourite were the chicken wings with yoghurt remoulade, and the hyped up polenta chips, but i was told i was being a minimalist with the gorgonzola sauce. grilled milk fed lamb the mains roll out and the smell is amazing. the fish special of the day included a poached fish (sadly i am absolutely horrendous at remembering a

we had an amazing evening at bloodwood. thanks so much. it was 9 of us and we had 9course menu which was absolutely delicious. they took care of gluten and dairy free options without a problem. vegetarian obviously too. our germanic waitress was great. super friendly and very efficient. definitely going back.

terrible service, average food. waited an hour and a half to only get two of the three dishes we ordered - cancelled the last as it showed no signs of appearing despite continual assurances from the staff. dishes served were okay, but not worth the poor service.

about time. about time newtown moved up into the world of decent food. this place is the best thing to happen in a long time, anywhere - great vibe, gorgeous food. food is simple, fresh, morish and you can see the deft of touch from a chef that has worked with some of the best chefs in oz..

two of us had 11 dishes!!!, one $80.00 wine, two beers and a cognac and the total - $280.00 - this is a bargain as far as we are concerned.

the trifle by the way is out of control!!

came for dinner on a sunday night and the ambience was warm and pleasant. service was minimal but efficient. absolutely loved the chickpea pancake; like a flavoursome pizza. and the coconut tapioca dessert is a must! great place to come with a few friends where it's quiet enough to chat and staff won't bother you too much!

yummy cocktails and cool vibe. cute date place - my bf and i loved all the music they were playing. lovely service and yummy food. only thing that wasnt standout was the polenta chips - ive had better. was surprised that 'share plates' were actually quite generous in size. all in all a place that id return to.

what's the bloody fuss about. the food and cocktails are creative and interesting. the service was good. the decor, i think, was trying way too hard to be industrial chic and not hard enough to be comfortable (those chairs pinch!).

would i go again?only if i didn't have to wait more than an hour for a table i was told would be ready in half that time!

bloody awesome!. i finally got to dine here after i'd failed to do so, 2 previous times wen i couldn't wait 45 minutes to eat. it was worth they anticipation. between 2 we ordered the grilled calamari sald with fenne. radiccio and finely-diced jappenos, ooses a guysy punh.

the chickpea pancake it delicious. it look since a pizza when it first comes out but that taste in exradinary. th salt code banded does not look like what you'd expect either and i mean that in a good way. this place rocks!

booze at bloodwood. i came here for a glass of wine on opening night inadvertently. we were promptly informed that they had just opened. i thought that the place looked smart. it was industrial, yet funky, stylish yet cosy. a few weeks later i tried to return but was told from the buzzy waitress that the wait would be about 45 minutes for a table. another few weeks later on a sunday night, i went again for a glass of wine. a nice pinot grigio and pinot noir is on the list but limited options only by the glass. i am dying to go back for their food though.

the fried chicken seems to be a popular staple on their restaurant menu and i just had to try it when i saw it. the chicken itself was extremely juicy inside but the best part was easily the spiced batter which is incredibly crispy and flavoursome.

typically love the place, today crap service. ordered and watched other tables be served multiple times. they finally came up and said the kitchen messed up our order. then ordered another wine, waited and waited, finally asked them to chase it. they came back and had to ask what we ordered. if today was my first time here i would never cone back!

not deserving what you pay. we had a banquet menu with a group of friends. the food did not have the taste. soms dishes literally tasted the same. secondly the service was horrible. since we stepped into the restaurant, the negative vibe was given by the head waiter and followed by the other ones. not worth. you won't get the worth what you pay.

newtown's grand old dame. well compared to all the newer restaurants around newtown, bloodwood just about qualifies as an old, trusted establishment stalwart. it still has one of the most interesting wine lists in town and the food never fails, from the polenta chips they opened with, to the ambrosial jerusalem artichoke tarte tatin. the staff were amazing. sorry i can't remember your names. it was that last bottle.

it’s been more than a year since bloodwood popped up on my radar: my first couple of visits were drinks-only affairs while a drop-in over the december festive season sadly saw them closed for a week or so. but post my dinner visit recently, i’ve been wondering: where has bloodwood been all my life? and indeed, where have i been when i should have been in their mezzanine dining room all this time? bloodwood, king street, newtown the industrial chic fit-out reminds me a little of another venue but suits the space and newtown down to the concrete ground. the front bar area is cosy, as too the open kitchen we pass before heading up a few steps to the table settings for couples and fours in the main dining area. polenta chips, gorgonzola sauce we order their signature polenta chips as we pore over the very approachable wine list, with plenty of options by the glass. the 2009 font de michelle font du vent cotes du rhone is an affordable choice that has an almost abruptly short length, no
