poor management. have no clue to manage and be hospitable to guests.. theplacezero service levels ..average food at best with miniature portions. stepped out for a smoke and while returning was asked to wait for the manager to re enter really ?? . had come with friends from dubai and they can't belive india has these service levels . specially for aplacenear boat club in such a posh location. go to any otherplaceto have a better experience..apart from location avoid at all cost they are way better options in chennai.

we had great dining experience in black orchid. the resto bar is located at first floor. good crowd, nice ambience and insta worthy interior! the music was not too loud.

the best part is service. the staffs made us comfortable and service was super fast . coming to food, spicy salmon sushi and kunafi prawn were smaller in size. i really loved the grilled beef tenderloin with rosemary jus. it was so chewy and delicious. the cini stick mocktail (sugar cane base) was interesting. there is not much variety on menu but available items were really good. i felt that price could have been on lower side. the food quality was top notch. niceplaceto hangout with friends on saturday night.

amazing food and ambience. the sushi’s are authentic. the staffs service is ok but most importantly i got to mention tammy’s hospitality and the way she took care of us when we came an hour before the restaurant shuts and she handled it really well while the other staffs weren’t really accommodating. the reason for us to stay there was because of her and also the food. thank you tammy. will definitely visit thisplaceoften thanks to you and put a word across to my friends and family.

one of my favourite places in town. the service is top notch especially mr.srinath is always a joy, such amazing service. you can visit thisplacejust for the service. the food is great as well, the sushi is something we keep coming for. we dropped in on my birthday just to get the sushi. they did make my day better. the cheesecake is also sooo good. a must visit. a lovely ambience, beautiful lighting. can't wait to visit again. thank you black orchid and mr.srinath for making our every visit amazing !

it’s not aplaceyou go to for the food - that’s for sure. the ambience is great for drinking and having a good time but the food is a huge letdown. would recommend getting the lotus stem appetiser though. that was super yummy. everything else was average and nothing unique about it.

honestly, one of the best experience i have ever had as a food blogger.
where do we start?
the ambience is really subtle and serene.
with not too much lightings, the orange hue lamps gives us a really subtle feeling.
probably the best service i have ever had. they make sure the crowd is well maintained and satisfied till the end. absolutely loved the staffs and their efforts.
not just this, their food was amazing.
i started with a indian spiced paneer skewers with mint chutney and cheese garlic bread. loved the skewers and the way it was cooked.
i usually don't prefer mocktails anywhere, but thisplacewas an exception and they really killed it.
i had a mocktail called berry and basil (with yogurt, berry and some basil flavours onto it) which i would say 5/5. the best mocktail i have ever had and highly recommended.
main course was thai red curry and penne pink sauce pasta.
thai red curry is one another highly recommended dish.
i would suggest thisplacea 5/5 for their food, service and the hospitality.
not to forget their owner, a banker turned restauranteur sanjeev verma. can't thank you enough for taking your time to explain about the unheard new teppanyaki and the place.

after seeing all the nice reviews about thisplacei was so looking forward to trying this one, but in the end, i couldn't help but wish i hadn't. the restaurant was nicely done up and sadly, the good things ended right there.

firstly, they played awfully loud music on the evening we were there, which was totally unacceptable. you literally had to scream to make yourself heard. the service wasn't up to the mark and it was terribly slow. while we were 2 of us, they left us with just one food and beverage menu.

also, their food and the cocktails weren't anything to write home about either. their quesadilla and the dips that came with it were terrible and so was the lotus stem dish that we'd ordered.

on the whole, it was a forgettable experience.

air conditioning was not that great. may be it was due to the live station in the ground floor, but for this the ambience was elegant covered mostly in black.

food was good but not great. i ordered mostly from continental section and the the chicken breasts which were completely dry and inedible. the chickens wings also was not that great, the texture was inconsistent. i loved the cocktails though.

definitely would go back again and try again and this time order japanese food.

black orchid sent these delicious dishes for reviewing and i was thrilled because i've heard theplaceand food is quite impressive from many of my friends. i must say i couldn't click pictures patiently because the aroma from the food was killing me and my patience haha. anyways, their packaging was practical and sturdy. food looked great, and they tasted brilliant. what i loved the most was their cottage cheese quesadilla and the udon veg noodles. also if you're a sushi fanatic, you'll love that too. overall such an outstandingplaceto rely on if you want some quality asian food. i personally don't prefer asian, but food from black orchid definitely brought a change to that. do try thisplaceguy you'll be impressed too.

i love black. theplacehad black decor which i loved and black themed one. i loved everything about the place.

the good we ordered was amazing too,
- chicken quesadillas were amazing,
- murgh masala and pulao, i loved it,
- pork sausage in a sweet and spicy sauce - wasn’t upto the mark,
- caramelised milk cheesecake was amazing.

i loved theplaceand i do want to give 5 stars for thisplacebut, the manager i think was rude. he was a bit rude and not willing to do what the customer because they had the crowd coming. they concentrate on bigger crowd, which i feel is not so good. so i hope some of the people working there should have basic etiquette in some of the customers needs like allowing them to sit in theplacethey want when no one else is coming. on the other hand, there are some other people who treated us good. i would just like to say that, please treat the customers good, if you some seat is reserved, tell us politely, instead of saying no rudely.

this is such a good place. the ambience is really beautiful. food and drinks are just mind blowing!! i would highly highly recommend thisplaceto everyone!!! besides, staffs are very courteous, and special shoutout to srikanth, who did a great job!
overall, a fantastic experience. thisplacehas all my heart and would definitely keep visiting in the future too. highly recommend their zu zu li cocktail, cauliflower kazule, thai green curry (definitely the best ever in town).

visited thisplacelast year and since then have been going here at least once or twice a month. why ? because thisplacesuits for all kind of meet ups. you want to have a boy's night out, thisplaceis good. you want to go out with family and friends for dinner, thisplaceis perfect. you want to go out for lunch with kids, thisplacesuits for that as well.
they have valet parking and on the main road so easy to spot. the ambience is nice and as name suggests, it is little dark. they have seating in basement if you have come with a big gang family and friends. ground floor is perfect for family and kids and 1st floor is for people who like to smoke and kids are not allowed. in short a perfectplacefor all occasions.

the menu is simple and elaborate. you have japanese, south asian, indian and continental. the best part is you get to see the chef's making sushi and other dishes live. another advantage of thisplaceis the people who work here. you want to customize a dish, they are ready and give us all possible options. same with cocktails. you tell them how you like your drinks to be and it comes exactly the way you wanted.
their veg and non veg both have varities and tastes very good. i am a non vegetarian and others in my family are vegetarian so yet another reason to visit black orchid.
their mutton chukka, stir fried beef, satay, paneer dishes, lotus stem and cauliflower flower starters are simply superb. even main course has good options and the portion served is more than any resto bar. main course comes a whole meal where they serve paratha or rice along with your choice of protein. taste is bang on. never ate anything so far that didn't taste good.

music is perfect not very loud that you have to scream to talk to the person sitting next to you. the choice of songs are nice and mix of latest songs and old chartbusters of bryan adams and backstreet boys.

apart from all this, the kind of service you get is impressive. i have not seen the staff getting irritated or showing faces in spite of asking multiple customisation in the food. srinath has taken care of our table few times now. easy to communicate, always willing to help and ensures all of us are enjoying the food. feels like he understands us now so nice that before even we ask for water or repeat the drink or tissue, he is right there proactively to check if you need anything. srinath is always my go to person. i just have to tell him what i feel like drinking or what my daughter likes to eat and it gets served as you had imagined. i stopped seeing the menu also.
not only srinath, the person in-charge xavier and the people in valet all are extremely professional and top notch service.

i strongly recommend this place.
