schnitzel was ok. the saladbarwas a nice accompaniment. friend swears by it. service was friendly. i am not sure i would come back on my own accord.

recommended by a local to try this out and glad i did. generous serves with choices of the saladbaror roasted vegetables. i had the scotch fillet with mash and struggled to finish it.
lovely helpful staff, quick service and busy on a tuesday night.

great service, lovely location. had a seafood platter and especially enjoyed the oysters, prawn skewers and squid. not as impressed with the battered fish and chips, so it's very much down the middle. enjoyed the saladbaras well - i always love those!

had the wagyu rump steak. it was excellent. cooked to perfection. saladbaris of a high quality and staff were attentive and pleasant. thank you!

such a great place to eat, awesome out door deck with beautiful outlook over the port river. great menu with heaps of variety, really good saladbarand friendly staff. highly recommend.

nice food at the port. have been there twice. tried the fish of the day and the chicken curry. the curry was too spicy for my wife, but i liked it a lot. the fish of the day was very good each time. the saladbaris also good. it's a nice place, especially if the weather is good and you seat outside, at nice place and with good quality food. will there again.

depressing. i'm baffled as to how this hotel could earn the mantle of best eatery in port adelaide. it is so busy that the staff have become complacent and uninspired. there is no personality (save for the owner who has enough charm to almost make up for them). i went on a night he obviously wasn't there and was greeted with the usual arrogance that is way too common in hospitality (wiping this bench comes before serving you). then "you right there?" i said "no" which did not amuse my server.

i ordered a wine and perched at thebarso i could observe the kitchen. i love that it is separated with glass to give customers an opportunity to watch their chips get fried. in all the kitchens i have worked in there has always been an energetic vibe shared by all involved with the preparation of a meal. not so in this kitchen. nobody said anything. faces looked glum. maybe it's the uninspired menu that depressed them?

if you are heading out and want a great view this is the place. however, if you are like me and you think you are more important than a wiper, and you enjoy connecting with enthused staff members who love what they do, don't expect to find it here.

my friend and i had dinner at the birkenhead tavern last night after going to another ban live export rally.
i just want to say the staff are good, the vegie/saladbaraverage, the chillie almost non existant in my meal, but i was most impressed by a man from the frontbarwho offered to open two doors for me as i was carrying two glasses of beer to the dining room! well done to that gentleman!

happy diner. this is my favourite pub to dine in.

went back for a second time and still didn't perform. i heard such good things about this place so i went to check it out.. and was not so impressed. food is well priced, menu sounds fantastic but it just doesnt deliver.

i decided to go back again to prove to myself that it was just bad luck the first time, so i booked in for a group of 18 for my birthday. once again, food is a good price for all those on a budget but it just isn't regular pub standard.. food isnt fresh and they seem to be aiming too high for their cooking ability.

the staff are all very nice, it has a great view and nice styling outside but the inside looks a little outdated and the saladbaris pretty terrible. i'd go back if i just wanted a quick, cheap, not great quality meal but there are much better places close by.

steak to die for!. came in for a birthday dinner with a party of about 30. had to order at thebarwhich suited us fine (no figuring out who owes what at the end). didnt have high expectations. always a little apprehensive about a pub with a huge menu. ordered a steak and it came out perfect. cooked exactly the way i wanted it and obviously rested. wines by the bottle were good and well priced.
