thisrestauranthas very average food that is equal to a westfield mall but its small seating space and location requires that it should charge a premium for its dishes.

went for a dinner on a rainy saturday night. had to wait for about 30 minutes before i got a table. the service was wonderful; they were really friendly. the food came out quite fast as well. the prices were really affordable for the quality we got, but the yakitori was more on the expensive side. overall, a very good experience! wish i found thisrestaurantearlier.

we have been wanting to visit this charcoal ignitedrestaurantfor so long and we finally got our chance for dinner. we ordered the chefs selection which included 8x yakatori sticks, pannacotta, chicken broth, salad and 30ml of chilled sake.

i’m a big cooker of food over live fire and charcoal and this chicken was on a different planet. texture and taste were faultless, that had me wanting more!

service was a little flat when we asked questions about the dishes, but otherwise fine.

we can’t wait to get back here!

i've been to japan several times and i have been to many yakitori bars over the years. the only issue with traditional yakitori bars is that i am a very large man, so i tend not to fit in the tiny cramped spaces.

fortunately, bird's nest yakitori captures the wonderful cuisine and tastes of a traditional yakitori bar, but in true western tradition offers much more personal space and elbow room. the best of both worlds.

i enjoyed all of the skewers i sampled, including the sasami, shiratama and italian.

the sasami was chicken tenderloin, grilled and served with mayonnaise and crunchy garlic - 4.

the shiratama was three delicately grilled and salted quail eggs, served with the yolks perfectly cooked (warm and gooey) - 4.

the italian included bocconcini, tomatoes and basil wrapped in pork belly. the bocconcini was just starting to ooze and the flavors complemented each other beautifully - 4.

great food and wonderful service - the owner was engaging with the customers and playful with the staff. i just loved her japanese/australian accent, which like therestaurantis the best of both cultures. i am a fan and will definitely be back.

a perfect dinner last night. this place has wine that is rarely found at any otherrestaurantor bottle shop, so they suggest the wines to match the meal. just bliss.
great service, all staff seemed to be japanese so they are shy generally, so don't expect to be up-sold so you need to read the menu well to make sure you dont miss anything.
thisrestaurantis better then the valley one as it has more food options, the valley has their favourite and best sellers but is more of a bar vibe, so for a foodie experience/ west end is the best!

bird's nestrestaurant(yakitori and bar) is in trendy, busy, whacky west end.   i remembered seeing this place on tv last year and being impressed with the passion of the owners.  we are both fans of japanese food - sushi being our default go-to, so we were keen to try it out.  hubby went for the japanese hot dog special. the meat is tsukune - chicken meatballs which are grilled over charcoal. it is served on a japanese bun with cabbage and mayo, along with spicy fries. hubby really liked this; he said it was one of the best hot dogs he had ever eaten. not sure what makes the bun japanese but it was fresh and soft. perhaps it was a japanese milk bun which is made with a roux starter, and is very light and airy (thus says google). i had karaage don with wasabi mayo, served on tare rice with pickles, and a cup of miso soup accompanying it. fyi tare is a sweetened, thickened soy sauce flavoured with dashi, vinegar etc. this was a wonderful dish. simple, quick and so tasty. the fried chicken was tender and had a crunchy golden batter. the rice was flavourful, and there was a crispy seaweed garnish that added a great little extra texture to the dish.

mr p. and i agreed this was the best miso soup we had ever had. rather than coming out of a packet, it actually tasted fresh and real with delicious silken tofu. and the colour is a beautiful pale yellow unlike that weird brown stuff you get from the sachets.  such a fun place with great food.

we had a breif stop visit to brisbane and were after a late lunch option before we flew back to sydney. using zomato, we ended up deciding on this restaurant. therestaurantas to be expected was decorated in a japanese theme with a modern feel to it.
we were the only customers and sat at the bar. we were greeted with friendly service and had a good chat to the chef. this place has an array of japanese drink options available. i was impressed by the japanese whisky available, including the rare hibiki 17yrs.
for my meal ordered the tsukune hot dog with chicken meatballs and cabbage with japanese mayo and spicy pirikara fries. this was a tasty lunch option. my wife ordered the bincho grilled don rice topped with ponzu pickled cabbage, grilled chicken skewers and rice.
great little japanese spot in brissy with friendly staff and tasty food.

booked a table to dine on mon night 21/03/16. therestaurantwas about 1/2 full. we sat for 18 minutes until we actually had to ask for a menu (no big deal, but all the small things added up). as we were given the menus, we were asked if we are ready to order. we hadn't even had the menu for 20 seconds. the food, whilst it does taste ok is way overpriced. each yakitori stick is a min of $5. if you want a full meal, don't go here. obviously you can order enough for a full meal, but it'll hit the wallet hard for what you get. i have spent significant time in japan, dining in yakitori lane shinjuku and i will admit the food is similar. the beer prices are outrageous. $11.5 for asahi on tap. not even a pint. i think it was about a 400ml handle. in summary, food taste ok and is similar to dining in japan, service was below par and drink prices are stupid.

get to know thisrestaurant1 year ago on south bank food festival, can't forget the pork belly warped cherry tomato. but haven't got chance to go to therestaurantitself. not a easy place to park. the 1st time tried to go there, no seat without a reservation.
finally, brought my fiancee and her parents for a dinner, remembered to book. they are new to yakitori, but all impressed by the quality and taste of the food, everything is perfect, best yakitorirestauranti have found in brisbane.

price is a little too high for me, not suitable for everyday dining, but a great place for dating....

this is a truly delightful dining experience, thoroughly recommended to anyone who appreciates the subtleties of exceptional japanese cuisine. it's all yakitiro (grilled chicken) ... of course there are tasty vege options too ... regardless every dish is so utterly different in both presentation, texture and flavour that one would think they have a special magical stock of chickens out back to choose from.

i picked this place due to its high zomato rating and it did not disappoint.

the setting is traditional japanese blended with some funky modern neon japanese art on the roof.

attentive staff are quick to explain the concept of thisrestaurantand recommend popular dishes and supply large glasses of crisp asahi beer. the saki was so smooth with a slight nuttiness here - not like saki i've had in the past that remind me more of rocket fuel.

i got the $55 banquet - a really great taste test of a wide range of yakitiro. my favourite was the chicken fillets with umi and shallots (this is just such a lovely flavour; tangy and salty at the same time). i also loved the skewered chicken wings which were ever so lightly caramelized by fire with incredibly delicate flesh that was just falling off the bone.

the crispy rice triangle was gorgeously seasoned and i wish it came a bit earlier so it could be eaten with the meat.

a lovely welcome dinner for my trip to brisbane setting the bar high for the rest of my trip.

日本語のreviewはしたです。
therestaurantwas extremely busy but the staff made an effort to make sure we were always being checked in on which was lovely, especially considering we were seated outside. we had asked if therestaurantwas baby friendly and had been told it was, however we ended up holding our 1 year olds, which was not a huge issue as we had our partners with us, but slightly disappointing.

the food was lovely but unfortunately in my opinion extremely overpriced. we ordered quite a larger selection of yakitori and while they were tasty, the quality did not really make up for the serving size nor cost. i would recommend this venue as a date night experience, but not somewhere you would go regularly.

while thisrestaurantgets amazing reviews - i don't think they do truly live up to their expectation.  the yakitori are certainly ravishing but to experience thisrestaurantin all its glory, you need to be in a mood for plenty of meat, with slightly exorbitant prices.  service here is fantastic and it is always full, but there are other west end options close by that offer better value for money.
