authentic japanese izakaya style food here. tried the pork belly and chicken thigh skewers. pricey but amazing. they both had agoodchar on them and were well seasoned. the pork was served with a lovely mustard sauce.

i also ordered the karaage chicken. this was crispy and served with a balanced wasabi mayo. it had just the right hit of wasabi for me.

pirikara fries were also a highlight. seasoned with shichimi and served with a japanese mayo i really enjoyed them. i finished off with the cabbage which was nothing exceptional but a large amount of cabbage for the price.

sake selection here is also a highlight, and staff are friendly and more than willing to help you make a selection. it's a shame i wasn't made aware of the tasting platter option, as at $15 it'sgoodvalue.

it’s too overrated. we came here because of thegoodreviews but the food was very ordinary. the skewers were overcooked and very dry. it was disappointing. will not come back for sure.

went for a dinner on a rainy saturday night. had to wait for about 30 minutes before i got a table. the service was wonderful; they were really friendly. the food came out quite fast as well. the prices were really affordable for the quality we got, but the yakitori was more on the expensive side. overall, a verygoodexperience! wish i found this restaurant earlier.

what a great experience! even though the place was packed (always agoodsign), the staff were just as attentive. we ordered the omakase course so basically the chef decides, and what a great selection it was. sasami, buta bara, italian, asparagus, shiitake mushrooms, and more, all done in the traditional way using charcoal. finishing with a sesame panna cotta to complete the great experience. will definitely come back again!

i was bouldering near by when i stumbled across this yakiyori joint in the west end. i love the ambience as it has a nice layout whilst makinggooduse of the space. the lighting is dark whilst the whiff of skewers rotating over a charcoal grill was mouth watering.

i took a table by the bar and ordered the chef’s choice of 8 various skewers. it came out promptly and i wolf them all down. my favourite has to be the leek and chicken, followed closely by the king oysters mushroom and the zukini. i finished it off with the chicken soup gohan with waisabi topping.

it was all very nice and brought back memories of piss alley in tokyo, without the cigarettes smoke or pushing pass very very pissed salary men!

the only thing i don’t like should be the price, quite expensive. butgoodfood quality, excellent service, as well as a huge range of alcohol!!! very delicious, would like to go again, but actually i don’t think it is agoodplace to ‘enjoy the food’, since with this price i can find a better place to eat. but the alcohol and atmospheres are very attractive points!

came here tonight and got served a expired beer. told the waitress and she respond saying it's allgoodand it's ok to drink the beer within 6 month after the expiry date. hmm i guess you learn something new everyday. but that was not the worst part, i told them i still don't think it's fine to drink a beer that's expired, at least that not how we do it in australia. the waitress reluctantly turned around and say alright i'll take it off the list and sounded like it was me that's trying to pick on them. well overall, extremely bad service and i'm not drinking expired beer again. yep, i can read and 賞味期限 means expiry date, so don't try to trick me thanks.

a great night out at a great venue. we had the $55 chef's selection, which really was value for money and have agoodselection of skewers. i really recommend the tomato skewers as well as the panna cotta. the bar menu was extensive so i think this would also be a great place for after work drinks.

amazing service. all the staff, including the owner are lovely and helpful. the food was filling and the overall price turned out to be actually a lot more reasonable than i initially expected. lovely drinks andgoodfood - what more could you ask for? the only thing i didn't really enjoy was the chicken skin skewers - a bit bland but that's just my personal taste opinion. i guess i was expecting more crisp :)

this experience dates back to early march this year (2016) when my wife & i had the "saké to me" at bird's nest. we were dying to try this place ever since emi & marie won channel 9's tv show the hotplate back in september 2015. it was a set menu like a degustation meal where saké was paired along with certain dishes. they had a saké mixing master from japan on the side who would adjust the taste of each saké in accordance to which dish was served. the history would then be told upon serving each type of saké eg. origin, where was the water harvested, body, flavor, aroma, texture etc. it was very interesting and definitely enhanced our experience at the restaurant. we decided to 'not only' have everything on their set menu, but went a little more by ordering another $150+ worth of yakitori (that wasn't on the set menu) to try almost everything else available on the night. most yakitori weregoodbut not great, probably it was a big night and seeing emi & marie both in the kitchen, talking to customers, bringing us saké + explanations, cleaning tables and general serving; they would've been quite tired by the end of the night. decor was very nice, all walls and ceiling told a story and attention to detail of the fit-out was excellent. love to come back again soon, i rate it 9/10 based on that night's strong vivid experience (9 months ago) note: over 20+ photos had been posted long ago, just never wrote a review for the night till now.
