this experience dates back to early march this year (2016) when my wife & i had the "saké to me" at bird's nest. we were dying to try this place ever since emi & marie won channel 9's tv show the hotplate back in september 2015. it was a set menu like a degustation meal where saké was paired along with certain dishes. they had a saké mixing master from japan on the side who would adjust the taste of each saké in accordance to which dish was served. the history would then be told upon serving each type of saké eg. origin, where was the water harvested, body, flavor, aroma, texture etc. it was very interesting and definitely enhanced our experience at the restaurant. we decided to 'not only' have everything on their set menu, but went a little more by ordering another $150+ worth of yakitori (that wasn't on the set menu) to try almost everything else available on the night. most yakitori weregoodbut not great, probably it was a big night and seeing emi & marie both in the kitchen, talking to customers, bringing us saké + explanations, cleaning tables and general serving; they would've been quite tired by the end of the night. decor was very nice, all walls and ceiling told a story and attention to detail of the fit-out was excellent. love to come back again soon, i rate it 9/10 based on that night's strong vivid experience (9 months ago) note: over 20+ photos had been posted long ago, just never wrote a review for the night till now.
