there's no shortage of boutique burger restaurants in brisbane; but bens is by far the best.

in a relaxed and vibey laneway, tucked away in the heart of the valley. if you want a classic, american style burger look no further. ben's style is very simplistic. three delicious burgers, no alterations. super refreshing to see abrisbanerestaurant taking this approach.

highly recommend this place if you're ever looking for a place to grab a bite in brisbane.

why this place? he says: in my old stomping ground brissie for greek easter and we thought it’d be a great oversight to not review a burger whilst we were in town. a fair bit of blogging investigation lead us to bens. she says :  he did all the research for this one and did so well! actually – i did also see it in one of our   instagram  follower pictures – they do greatbrisbaneburger reviews but unfortunately their name escapes me. (sorry person! comment so people can follow you.) what did you order? bb classic burger with candied bacon: $14.50 bb special burger: $11 chilli cheese fries: $10 strawberry jam milkshake: $7 tell us about the classic burger with candied bacon? he says: this was a really good little burger. as the way with so many these days it tasted like an upmarket fast food burger (which is by no means a criticism). the candied bacon was as good as it sounds and is a mandatory addition i would think. i would have preferred the pattie a little more rare and the inclusion of more sauce and cheese but all in all these are minor quibbles. she says: for me, the candied bacon made this burger. sweet and salty is always good and with this burger it added that perfect counterpoint to the almost fast food vibe (which, as he said already mentioned is definitely not a bad thing). i really liked the balance of flavours though – good pickles, nice fresh salady bits. this burger was my favourite of the two for sure. as always we added more aoli – sometimes i think that we would do best if we took our own stash of sauces everywhere. so then, how did you find the bb special burge r ? she says:  this was not such a winner – super salty without a point of difference and lacking the balance of flavours that was so great with the other burger. the sauce distribution throughout the burger was totally off (you can see it in the cross section picture if you are looking for it). i know is a pretty unusual quibble but it made a big difference, because while i got all the s

finally a burger joint inbrisbanethat gets it right.. these are easily the best burgers in brisbane. no other burger joint compares. not burger urge. not da’burger. and certainly not grill’d.

the menu is limited but that’s not a bad thing here.

it’s also a little annoying to not be allowed to make alterations, but still really worth it.

i’m partial to “the special” and ben’s gets it just right with the perfectly-cooked pattie, toasted bun, american cheese and special sauce. though i’m not sure why they thought jalapenos on a burger would be a good thing.

the milkshakes are great, too.

the décor is quaint. despite being in an alleyway, thankfully they aren’t doing the hipster thing that’s saturatingbrisbane(and especially the valley) right now.

they are as advertised! trendy burger joint in a trendy lane on one of the valley's back streets. burger was good, although you wouldn't say they were the best inbrisbanebut definitely worth trying out. good hang out spot to get food and drinks before a night out on the town.

solid burgers at a moderate price. a thick chunk of quality beef, although cooked very thoroughly and not much else to the cheesy - the classic might be better. and winn lane looks like a cool place to eat but opening it directly onto a road with no footpath seems dodgy. still, this is the best burger i've had inbrisbane- much bigger and better than miel container, for instance, at the same price.

i’m a burger fiend and will eat ben’s burgers about 1-2 x week (mostly from ubereats, sometimes i’ll eat in). i’ve tried most burger joints inbrisbanecity but this is hands down my absolute fav!

i’m super traditional with my burger preferences, i like american style burgers with a beef patty, cheese, tomato, pickles, onions, lettuce, tomato sauce, mustard and mayo... so bens’ classic option is basically my ideal burger in real life. in fact, i’m such a fan that i haven’t branched out and tried any of their other options!

if you’re eating in, they have cool, causal surrounds with really good hip hop music... last time i was there my boyfriend was happy because they were playing nba on tv... great burgers, great music and nba, what more could you want? (in my bf’s opinion lol)

the meat patties are juicy, a good size and seasoned and cooked perfectly. their milk buns which soft, fluffy with just the right amount of chewiness.

they use the classic american sauces, american cheese and have a good arrange of drinks, my favourite being the peanut butter chocolate thickshake and housemade cherry cola. if you’re eating in they have a selection of beer and spiced rum but no wine.

fyi if you’re picky, like having lots of options or like fancy-schmancy non traditional burgers, this is not the place for you. there are no alterations and there are only three burger choices + 1 monthly burger special. but what ben’s lack in options they well and truly make up for in quality. this is the place to go if you want a bloody delicious american style burger.

went for a weekend inbrisbanefor a friends wedding so thought i would finally try the famed ben’s burgers. to put it simply it didn’t disappoint.

on order: classic burger, fries and side of special sauce

i had a bite of the classic and it was good but something was definitely lacking to bring it all together. i added the special sauce and wow.

this was one tasty burger! patty was moist juicy and cooked a perfect medium rare, the bun was one of the best i’ve tasted.

overall bens burgers deserves the 5 stars only negative i would give is there isn’t one in melbourne!

one of the best shakes i’ve had inbrisbane(and i drink a lot of shakes) i was even pleasantly surprised when the milkshake was pretty much a thickshake. nice area and decor, although the location is a little hard to find. nice crispy chips and the burgers are juicy (i do understand why they have the no ingredient changes policy although i do think they might miss business because of it) nice staff and overall a nice little hang out.

definitely an oversupply of burger shops inbrisbanebut ben's do it pretty well. compared to other places out there it's definitely one of the best. burgers are tasty, well cooked and the fries are pretty good. like most burger shops it's way over priced for what you get - 4.00 for fries! 4.00 when you add bacon. i would say though that the burgers are tasty.

i actually wouldn't rate them as the best burgers inbrisbanebut they are definitely one of the best (i think it was the bun late on a sunday). i love how they do one thing and do it well. it speaks volumes about a place that can keep its menu simple

my girlfriend found this place in the top 50 burgers in australia so i went in with high expectations to be leave not finishing my burger.
they have a very simple menu and when i asked if they could not put in any pickles in my burger the guy rudely said no. i then flipped over the menu and tried to order a bacon, egg, cheese roll to be told they don't do that either.

you can add bacon and an extra patty but can't remove anything? seriously?

so what do they do? a burger that i could of mistaken for mc donalds.
whenbrisbanehas places like 'da burger' and 'getta burger' i won't ever be wasting my time or money here again.

to anyone who thinks this is the best burger inbrisbaneclearly hasn't got out much. go find 'da burger' or 'getta burger' and have your life changed forever.

p.s. ben, if you read this, no one is digging your staff being rude. eating out is about the experience not just the food.

ben and nick chiu, the brothers behind ben’s burgers in the valley inbrisbanehas no real background in food – aside from loving it!. working in the retail industry with his high-end streetwear store, apartment, but having a real knack for home cooking, ben chiu decided to make the transition into food.
