ben's burgers

there's no shortage of boutique burger restaurants in brisbane; but bens is by far the best.

in a relaxed and vibey laneway, tucked away in the heart of the valley. if you want a classic, american style burger look no further. ben's style is very simplistic. three delicious burgers, no alterations. super refreshing to see a brisbane restaurant taking this approach.

highly recommend this place if you're ever looking for a place to grab a bite in brisbane.

not a large menu (3 burgers to choose from along with sides and drinks) but what they do, the do well. a small space tucked down a laneways with an american diner style. the classic burger is full of flavour that is sometimes hard to get at burger joint. the milkshakes come out cold and thick which is nice.

burger is quite promising. they do a lot of ubereats services, you might have to wait a little but this little burger joint makes some mean burgers. would recommend the peanut butter milkshake and also add on the double patty for your burger. this is a good place for a few boys hang out!

this was the first burger joint i tried in brisbane, nice juicy burger really fresh ingredient, mine had jalapeno in it which was the special burger they were doing at that time. really a 4.5 but leaning towards better half of 4.5 so 5 it is.

good burgers, sad you can't manipulate them slightly more. little pricey too for what you get. cool atmosphere and good drink options. overall good, not great.

great burgers.  kids loved them also.  situated in a nice quiet area of the valley is bens little burger joint.  although burger restaurants are becoming a lot more prominent in brisbane few continue to churn our consistent delicious burgers like bens!

why this place? he says: in my old stomping ground brissie for greek easter and we thought it’d be a great oversight to not review a burger whilst we were in town. a fair bit of blogging investigation lead us to bens. she says :  he did all the research for this one and did so well! actually – i did also see it in one of our   instagram  follower pictures – they do great brisbane burger reviews but unfortunately their name escapes me. (sorry person! comment so people can follow you.) what did you order? bb classic burger with candied bacon: $14.50 bb special burger: $11 chilli cheese fries: $10 strawberry jam milkshake: $7 tell us about the classic burger with candied bacon? he says: this was a really good little burger. as the way with so many these days it tasted like an upmarket fast food burger (which is by no means a criticism). the candied bacon was as good as it sounds and is a mandatory addition i would think. i would have preferred the pattie a little more rare and the inclusion of more sauce and cheese but all in all these are minor quibbles. she says: for me, the candied bacon made this burger. sweet and salty is always good and with this burger it added that perfect counterpoint to the almost fast food vibe (which, as he said already mentioned is definitely not a bad thing). i really liked the balance of flavours though – good pickles, nice fresh salady bits. this burger was my favourite of the two for sure. as always we added more aoli – sometimes i think that we would do best if we took our own stash of sauces everywhere. so then, how did you find the bb special burge r ? she says:  this was not such a winner – super salty without a point of difference and lacking the balance of flavours that was so great with the other burger. the sauce distribution throughout the burger was totally off (you can see it in the cross section picture if you are looking for it). i know is a pretty unusual quibble but it made a big difference, because while i got all the s

finally a burger joint in brisbane that gets it right.. these are easily the best burgers in brisbane. no other burger joint compares. not burger urge. not da’burger. and certainly not grill’d.

the menu is limited but that’s not a bad thing here.

it’s also a little annoying to not be allowed to make alterations, but still really worth it.

i’m partial to “the special” and ben’s gets it just right with the perfectly-cooked pattie, toasted bun, american cheese and special sauce. though i’m not sure why they thought jalapenos on a burger would be a good thing.

the milkshakes are great, too.

the décor is quaint. despite being in an alleyway, thankfully they aren’t doing the hipster thing that’s saturating brisbane (and especially the valley) right now.

burgers that actually taste like burgers (don't be a snob). so the people that are boo-hooing about the ~basic~ nature and the no alteration thing are kind of missing the point here. it's a classic burger joint - drink some cherry cola and watch the nba and take a long deep exhale from your tough life, going to burger joints that won't remove the pickles for you (use your fingers, friend.) if you need a ridiculously modified treat to meet your dietary needs and/or preferences go to grill'd and get your fancy burger there.

i love burgers. i love basic burgers. ben's burgers is exactly this. it's a satisfying hit-the-spot feed.

my only criticism is that there are a lot of regulars and it is a verrry social environment, which is an awesome vibe as a customer, but not so awesome when the staff are often distracted by their friends (and its very obvious.) but gurl it cool, when the burg' is ready you bring it over straight away, and that's the most crucial part.

these burgers are by far the best tasting gift from god in brisbane that i have ever put between my teeth. service is excellent, drinks are second to none, and the overall vibe and atmosphere of the joint is impeccable. well done ben and best wishes on the new restaurant, the bleachers. jenny out.

they are as advertised! trendy burger joint in a trendy lane on one of the valley's back streets. burger was good, although you wouldn't say they were the best in brisbane but definitely worth trying out. good hang out spot to get food and drinks before a night out on the town.

burgers are always great quality and reliably delicious. but the killer is the cherry coke and rum, some genius came up with this - they deserve to be knighted!

solid burgers at a moderate price. a thick chunk of quality beef, although cooked very thoroughly and not much else to the cheesy - the classic might be better. and winn lane looks like a cool place to eat but opening it directly onto a road with no footpath seems dodgy. still, this is the best burger i've had in brisbane - much bigger and better than miel container, for instance, at the same price.

met with extremely rude staff. yes i had no mask and i understand the frustration from the people in the hospitality industry but to not let my friend with a mask make an order while i stood out side?! was horrified by the attitude of young man at counter last night. the experience made both of feel sick to the stomach. extremely disheartened.
