on the up. belvedere has been one of those restaurants we have dined at a few times and has proven to be a little hit and miss. each time we have visited there has been a different chef in charge and on our recent visit this was no exception as we were to find out later.
therestaurantis warm and inviting the staff are friendly and very attentive and since our last visit a new wall feature has appeared,
as it was a saturday night therestaurantwas busy and had a lovely atmosphere although we both agree that on all occasions the lighting could be improved as it is a tad dark.
for entree i had the pork belly with the squash puree, apples and braised cabbage which was to die for the pork was tender and the cracking ( i need tips), my husband had the house smoked salmon, which i snuck a taste of and both agree was the star of the night.
for mains we had the beef cheek and as a man dose he had the 400g op rib served on the bone, both of which were cooked to perfection, the beef cheeks just melted, a fork and spoon would of been sufficiant.
it was however all about dessert for us, we decided to share both the apple and rhubarb crumble and a rice pudding. the crumble was everything a crumble should be sweet, tart and the crumble crunchy and moreish, the rice pudding scared me at first fennel with dessert? but what a surprise it was delicious and the crunchy white chocolate on top i must learn cause it was amazingly good.
i have read a lot of the reviews on here about belvedere and although i agree with many of them, however after our recent experience i feel its up a notch, and feel the need to share this experience on the night, we never met the new chef the food is definatly improved, we want to come back, the menu is modern and so was that of the presentation of our dishes, we will be back!!!
