bay 146 - the savera hotel

the moment i entered this place. i just loved each and everything about this ❤ live music was going on side, dance floor on another 😍 crowd was amazing 😎 there was peace all over ✌

explored this place sometime last month.. i was quite surprised how i had missed such a place being so long in chennai.. they had a live band going on that night the ambience was real nice. we were seated in the balcony area over looking the pool ordered a few drinks with my zomato gold id and some starters. i would rate it 10/10 on experience.

had buffet today.

all were served hot & were good. there was no much of spices or masala. loved them all.

pricing was not bad.
we also got 2+2 on drinks.
music was very pleasant and we did not have to shout to hear each other.
staff were really polite and good.

being an in house restobar set up in savera helps. 

the choices on the menu are not very many. food as well. starters were decent, nothing to rave about. service is decent as well. more like a chill out with friends in front of the large screen kind of a place.

i’m usually choosy with places i order cocktails at but we made it here for a jazz concert on one friday night. we used zomato gold and they had their own rules around it(the second drink had to be the same as the first drink). i hated the bloody mary, it tasted like tomato ketchup. i ordered one of the tea for two (jasmine tea) that i don’t remember the name of but it was the only decent drink that night. the whiskey sour was okayish but smelled of egg so no no for me. another mango cocktail was a wrong decision.
the food however was the only saviour that night. the mushroom and roasted garlic crostini were delicious and highly recommended. the almond cheese balls can be skipped, they make for a very very oil and heavy starter. the caprese puff was fresh and nice.

i am from ahmedabad and being at a good restaurant in chennai was something that i was craving for from long.
basically, we were a bunch of 6 who wanted to spend some good time while enjoying a few drinks.
as i came to know women are not welcomed here at local bars, i had to find a spot where this discrimination wasn’t there.
i identified two nearby hotels from marina beach where i could utilise my zomato gold membership.
hotel savera was the second in the list but the polite behaviour of the call attendant make me choose this one.
on reaching there, we came to know they had a cover charge policy for the evening as some band was going to perform. i had no objection paying the cover charge of rs. 750 per person but was unsure of the repayment option they suggested. on asking about the redemption, they allowed us without the cover charge and it was by surprise a good gesture by them.

we were having 2 zomato golds and decided to use them both on the 2+2 drinks.
we ordered 4 beers (kingfisher blue 325 ml) and other 4 hot drinks including 2 pegs of chivas regal (scotch) and 2 pegs of ballantine’s (blended whiskey scotch), 30 ml each.

the hotel staff was quick, clean and attentive! they politely responded to each requests of ours and cleared a few confusions regarding the gold privileges.

we ordered 2 plates of french fries, 2 plates of potato wedges, and a plate of chicken tikkas as the side dishes. every food item that we ordered was pretty amazing and up to the mark. the non-vegetarian friend even exclaimed over the chicken tikkas being super juicy and tender.

however, the performance of the band never happened that we were told about while entering. we were anyway indifferent about it because we were enjoying a really good time of our evening with a beautiful ambiance and feels. we all were happy high and spent some great quality moments at hotel savera!
i would love to go back to try their desserts some day.

amazing ambience with quality screening. beers felt refreshing and not stale like a lot of other places around chennai (do not want to disclose names here). food was delicious. i would definitely comeback for more.

been here since it was known as sparks! have always loved the ambiance. had chicken donut and warning chicken wings for the 1st time and it was delicious. the music (dj) wasn't that great as it used to be may be it was a regular night instead of an event night. it doesn't matter for me as long as the food and beer tastes yummy... you guys rock ...

this is a good place to chill and have a couple of drinks. their starters here are all great! loved the chicken achari and the bbq pork which was just so soft and juicy! amritsari fish and fries tasted so well, in general the meat here , i felt were so fresh and soft.

first thing you notice is the ambience. it's quint, romantic, leisurely early in the evening and as time moves on the place transforms to hip, wild (ofcourse safe) party club. dj was great here.

food was delicious. i go out for dinner to taste something different. on that note we ordered quessdogas and sesame chicken strips for appetizers and desi shepherd's pie for main course. i enjoyed all three of them. unfortunately dessert was a tad disappointing considering the price.
they didn't had strong beer and had limited choices in that front ( specifically for beer). otherwise cocktails were great and they have large varieties of alcohol and other drinks.
this place is bit pricy. personally 2.5k-3k for dinner and "sober" level of drinking seems right to me.
mind you, if you are zomato gold user its better to let them know initially.

good interior, nice outlook, variety of drinks and food options available and great customer service. please don’t drink and drive; cops are outside the gates (main rd) almost every friday, saturday and sunday.

best place in chennai to have a couple of drinks.
only place i believe where you get hoegarden draught.

one of the best place in chennai with good music, drink & yummy food.!! it's in the city centre & anyone coming to chennai must go try this place with your friends for nice chilled out evening.
