fantastic patio and tapas! loved the variety.

we decided to try batanga on a friday night recently, and don't understand why we haven't tried it before. it was delightful - the servers were fun and had great suggestions, and the patio, with good weather, is superb. we tried a large selection oftapasand loved that they bring it when it's ready, so a steady stream of things to try. we will definitely be back soon.

if there was a negative rating on the scale i would have chosen it. horrible experience. management sucks, service sucks, food was nothing special. slower then slow service. we should have walked out the moment we noticed we didn't get a menu yet after being seated for 15 minutes. not even a "i'll be with you guys in a minute".. as if we weren't sitting there. drink order got cancelled because they didn't have ketel one vodka.. don't you think you can come ask me if i'd like another selection before you cancel our whole order? had to cancel sometapaswe ordered because 45 minutes passed without receiving them. we asked the waitress several times where the calamari was and her response every time was that she would "go check on it".. finally we were so over it and were ready to just leave. will never come back. and i hope you read this before considering trying it out yourself. you've been warned!

batanga is a lively and fun latin-inspiredtapasrestaurant with an enormous, downright magical patio. it was a gorgeous, crisp, houston autumn evening, so we sat outside and ordered a pitcher of sweet, fresh, smooth sangria to share before starting in on the food.

greattapasrestaurant. highly recommend the papas batanga as well as the carne empanadas! if you want a big plate "the grilldabeast" is the way to go done medium rare. the "paella" is also good but u have to really like seafood. the rice was not my favorite personally. great atmosphere and friendly staff!

great great place!.tapasrestaurants are popping up all over and this is one of the best ones i've been to. i had to plan a special birthday dinner/getting engaged dinner for 12 people who all have different food tastes and preferences. i talked with the manager, matt, to help me set this up. he was great to work with and extremely accomodating. he offered many suggestions which i used that night and helped me a ton. to the owner whomever you are, matt and damian (our waiter) worked extremely hard that night to make it special for my group. i love this place. the music was spectacular and the food was great. i enjoy the fact that you can order several plates for the table and eat family style. there was litterally something for every single person in our group. it makes for very fun and interactive group meal. i will be going to this place as often as i can. i suggest it to everyone when asked about a great, fun, downtown location to frequent. our group was there for almost 5 hours.....that's not just a dinner....that's an event which is what you get with batanga!

awesome atmosphere, great patio! service could be better, they were under staffed on a great sunny sunday! burger too salty,tapastasted good! food could be better in general for the price. awesome live music stage during the weekend.

girlfriend and i had dinner here on a friday night. it was both our first time and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. our waiter (santiago) made sure our 8tapaswere brought out in an order that flowed. we appreciated the extra effort. our favorites? the duck confit and castilian ribs were great, but the quail absolutely blew us away. we were given complementary top shelf tequila shots during our meal, and my girlfriend said her sangria was excellent. i highly recommend this place. be adventurous with your choices!!

this place has very poor customer service. one of the restaurant hostess was extremely rude. she yelled at us because we asked to be seated inside. our waiter did not place our order on time and after waiting forever, he did not bring all that we ordered. valet parking cost $8 and they had only two guys taking care of it. after waiting like 20 mins for the car, they didn't even open the door of the passenger. i wish i could say that all this trouble is worth the food but theirstapasare very disappointing. crispy calamari and chicken croquettes had the same bad taste, they add too much spices. potatoes had nothing special and i can't say how the cheese bread is as it was never brought to the table.

i went for a bday dinner.. i really love the location, ambience and menus. drink menu andtapasmenu both are pretty good. the grilldabeast was huge and very meaty.. fish tacos.. not the best.. ribs were really tender and had a nice glaze on them.. but a little fatty.. overall love the place.. the music.. great spot to come with lots of friends. once crowded the service gets a little mixed up.. but the staff is nice and the fix it right away..

great patio with outside airconditioning (!!), we had 6 differenttapas& all but 1 were excellent. the ribs were really good. the hangar steak was too rare for my hubby but not for me. the least fave was the gambas, which was too heavy handed on the chili powder. great service! great ambience. this is a perfect date restaurant.

had a wonderful late saturday afternoon. the sangria is quite excellent and the beer is cold.

we hadtapasincluding the mushroom croquettes that were great. surprisingly, they are a minced mushroom mixed with the flavors and sauces which were better than we expected even from the menu.
we had the bread that has rosemary and aioli and it looked like it was vivacious coveted in nacho cheese sauce, inin reality it was very delicious with crisp bread and complex flavor including a garlic that was not overbearing.
we lastly enjoyed the potatos fried with spices including a healthy dose of paprika. crisp outside and light and tender inside the sauce have a pronounced balance to the spices on the potatoes.
overall, this place has a good energy, a gracious and good staff and would recommend it for a night out with anyone, especially friends.
