fantastic patio and tapas! loved the variety.

we decided to try batanga on a friday night recently, and don't understand why we haven't tried it before. it was delightful - the servers were fun and hadgreatsuggestions, and the patio, with good weather, is superb. we tried a large selection of tapas and loved that they bring it when it's ready, so a steady stream of things to try. we will definitely be back soon.

we ordered several tapas, probably seven in all. all, but one was very good. the service a bit uneven, but not bad. the half price wine bottles on sunday is agreatdeal. the patio looksgreatwhen it cooler.

service nonexistent. there are somegreatrestaurants in houston. do not waste your time here. we had reserved a table on the patio days in advance and when we got there they said “you can’t sit there because someone else asked for the patio for their party.” i explained i had reservations. they told us someone should have informed us that our reservation was not going to be honored. won’t be back.

great tapas restaurant. highly recommend the papas batanga as well as the carne empanadas! if you want a big plate "the grilldabeast" is the way to go done medium rare. the "paella" is also good but u have to really like seafood. the rice was not my favorite personally.greatatmosphere and friendly staff!

wack, wack, oops. i'll sum up quickly my experience, which also marries closely with a lot of the other reviews i've read:

food: average (at best)
cocktails: awful
beers: nice try (great selection on the menu, but everything i wanted was out, so very little point in a menu)
live music:great(and not so loud it stifles conversation!)
ambience: good; excellent patio
service: weak
overall: would not come back unless i specifically wanted outdoor area

greatgreatplace!. tapas restaurants are popping up all over and this is one of the best ones i've been to. i had to plan a special birthday dinner/getting engaged dinner for 12 people who all have different food tastes and preferences. i talked with the manager, matt, to help me set this up. he wasgreatto work with and extremely accomodating. he offered many suggestions which i used that night and helped me a ton. to the owner whomever you are, matt and damian (our waiter) worked extremely hard that night to make it special for my group. i love this place. the music was spectacular and the food was great. i enjoy the fact that you can order several plates for the table and eat family style. there was litterally something for every single person in our group. it makes for very fun and interactive group meal. i will be going to this place as often as i can. i suggest it to everyone when asked about a great, fun, downtown location to frequent. our group was there for almost 5 hours.....that's not just a dinner....that's an event which is what you get with batanga!

ideal date spot. amazing food, surreal ambience, a live band so perfect we thought it was a recording. what made the night so incredible though was our server john. his timing on everything was outstanding. he left us alone when we needed the privacy and made delightful conversation when we didn't.greatmemory of the city of houston for these two canadians.

i went for a bday dinner.. i really love the location, ambience and menus. drink menu and tapas menu both are pretty good. the grilldabeast was huge and very meaty.. fish tacos.. not the best.. ribs were really tender and had a nice glaze on them.. but a little fatty.. overall love the place.. the music..greatspot to come with lots of friends. once crowded the service gets a little mixed up.. but the staff is nice and the fix it right away..

great patio with outside airconditioning (!!), we had 6 different tapas & all but 1 were excellent. the ribs were really good. the hangar steak was too rare for my hubby but not for me. the least fave was the gambas, which was too heavy handed on the chili powder.greatservice!greatambience. this is a perfect date restaurant.
