food and drink were good, but service was terrible! waited forever for service... order , refills, check and got worse when more people showed up. waitstaff had a bad attitude, rude and non responsive to any requests. they could have made more money if they even filled all orders. won't be back.

fantastic patio and tapas! loved the variety.

we decided to try batanga on a friday night recently, and don't understand why we haven't tried it before. it was delightful - the servers were fun and had great suggestions, and the patio, with good weather, is superb. we tried a large selection of tapas and loved that they bring it when it's ready, so a steady stream of things to try. we will definitely be back soon.

we ordered several tapas, probably seven in all. all, but one was very good. the service a bit uneven, but not bad. the half price wine bottles on sunday is a great deal. the patio looks great when it cooler.

service nonexistent. there are some great restaurants in houston. do not waste your time here. we had reserved a table on the patio days in advance and when we got there they said “you can’t sit there because someone else asked for the patio for their party.” i explained i had reservations. they told us someone should have informed us that our reservation was not going to be honored. won’t be back.

this restaurant was amazing in every way. our server was friendly and extremely knowledgable about the menu. everything we ordered was spot on-- lobster bisque (to die for), chickpea purée, beef empanadas and fish tacos. the price was extremely reasonable and the food superb.

if there was a negative rating on the scale i would have chosen it. horrible experience. management sucks, service sucks, food was nothing special. slower then slow service. we should have walked out the moment we noticed we didn't get a menu yet after being seated for 15 minutes. not even a "i'll be with you guys in a minute".. as if we weren't sitting there. drink order got cancelled because they didn't have ketel one vodka.. don't you think you can come ask me if i'd like another selection before you cancel our whole order? had to cancel some tapas we ordered because 45 minutes passed without receiving them. we asked the waitress several times where the calamari was and her response every time was that she would "go check on it".. finally we were so over it and were ready to just leave. will never come back. and i hope you read this before considering trying it out yourself. you've been warned!

their paella is to die for! if you want a dry mojito you might have try to reorder it a couple of times but other than if the staff is welcoming, environment is amazing with live music. i had a second date here and it had become our to go spot for yummy tapas!

batanga is a lively and fun latin-inspired tapas restaurant with an enormous, downright magical patio. it was a gorgeous, crisp, houston autumn evening, so we sat outside and ordered a pitcher of sweet, fresh, smooth sangria to share before starting in on the food.

great tapas restaurant. highly recommend the papas batanga as well as the carne empanadas! if you want a big plate "the grilldabeast" is the way to go done medium rare. the "paella" is also good but u have to really like seafood. the rice was not my favorite personally. great atmosphere and friendly staff!

my worst dinning experience ever... this places sucks!!! someone stole my purse inside the restaurant on a saturday night and nobody care about it, no the waitress or even the manager of the place, they refuse to show me the video tapes of the cameras and the manager made it sounds like it was my fault for no paying attention. beside that, they completely forgot our drinks, so we had to order them twice, our food got cold just because my friends and i were looking for my purse and of course they didn't reheat it for us. a completely disappointing experience!!

great experience. i was there this past saturday night. food was delish, music amazing and service.... impressive. i was late for my reservation and the host wanted to give my table away 45 min from when i arrived, however the waitress brought over the manager and he fixed everything!!!! although it was extremely packed, my party and i had a fabulous time. i will definitely be going back.

wow. what can i say besides acknowledging that i should have read the reviews first. downtown houston was dead on a sunday morning...ghost town practically, and the service at this restaurant could not be me detached than if they just stayed home. menu looked amazing but best i can tell, it's like an enthralling novel because the service rendered it a perfect work of fiction.

horrible. went here for restaurant week and couldn't have had a worse experience. the steak was chewy, the cucumber avocado salad was so lemony it was inedible. service took over two hours and made us late to our event. we would have sent food back but we were in a rush. i wish i could get my money back.
