basil cafe

basil café an hidden gem!. my husband and i have dined atbasilcafé for over two years now. we even have driven over 30 miles just for take-out (crazy, i know).

authentic + very tasty + very good prices + friendly staff + always fresh food + always smiling.

some of my favorites are the:
* vietnamese spring rolls
* tom yum soup, spicy & tangy tamarind-chicken based broth with lemongrass, galangal, kaffir leaves, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and onions. delicious! (spice level can be adjusted). tip: a bowl will serve 2-3 people.
*basilfried rice with chicken is the best stir-fried rice i have ever had. you can add in mixed vegetables, tofu, chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp.
* pad thai stir-fried thin rice noodles in the house tamarind sauce, with eggs, bean sprouts, chives, and roasted peanuts; with a choice of mixed vegetables, tofu, chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp.
* phó ga vietnamese chicken noodle soup, slow boiled over hours, daily, before served.

this place is an absolute gem!

best restaurant in appleton, wi.basilcafé is so good in so many ways. the restaurant is clean, comfortable, and inviting. the staff is super friendly and the take-out service is fantastic. now, the food. it is delicious beyond words. you can tell that the food is fresh and is cooked to perfection. the sauces do not taste like they are high in sodium however provide an explosion of flavor. i happen to like my food spicy, andbasilcafé certainly accommodates that. generally, when you eat at other restaurants with similar menu items, you leave feeling like you ate unhealthy food. that's certainly not the case atbasilcafé. my favorite dish is the spicybasilwith chicken and shrimp at a 3 spice level. all in all, i'd be devastated if this place ever closed!

very nice atmosphere, good s....basilcafe is a very good restaurant. the interior is beautiful, and the atmosphere is much nicer than at many thai restaurants. you feel as though you are in a much larger city than appleton. service is very professional and attentive.

i was there for lunch, and i ordered pho, with a thai iced coffee to drink. the pho and it was very large and filling. if i do have a criticism, it's that the pho was a little on the bland side. there are a couple of other places in the area where the soup is more complex and a bit more on the brave side. bottom line? i liked it and i will be back.

we tried thebasilcafe on a whim, and were wowed by the friendliness of the staff, the lovely decor, and most of all, by the savory food at an affordable price. we'll definitely return and bring our friends!

great atmosphere and good food. carmela and i have been atbasilcafe' just one time, but we will go back for sure. the atmosphere is really nice, perfect for dating ;-) the service is fast, professional and friendly. very clean overall. flavors and presentation of the dishes are very good. the portions served are "european" sizes, therefore smaller than usual, but the genuine taste of the food will allow you to "disregard" and forget about this minor detail.

very impressed. we finally stopped into thebasilcafe not knowing what to expect from the exterior. we were blown away by the beautiful interior and greeted with many smiling faces. the owners were more than kind to our small children and very accommodating to our family. the menu was easily laid out and professional looking with great descriptions. the food was incredible. house salad- a generous size with crisp greens. lemongrass soup- delicious. egg rolls- not greasy. pad thai- best i've ever had. not super sweet, full of flavor, a healthy helping. we've easily paid more for similar dishes elsewhere and were nowhere near as satisfied with our meals. clean bathrooms always wins me over. we will be regulars at thebasilcafe from now on. i'm already craving another visit and we just left there 3 hours ago.

i was routinely impressed withbasilcafé’s culinary attention to detail that really helped make everything on the menu better, and all of this for very reasonable prices ($9-10 entrees are common). i am already excited about the next time i eat atbasilcafé. though they may not have actually named the place after my dog, there is now another reason i love basil.
