always good service and good food. i love that it's something different from the usual choices of restaurants. i think its fabulous that they close for the summer to have some family time. oh and their moscow mule is amazing!

we have lived in appleton for 19-20 years.  we have several places we enjoy that are locally owned.  those type of restaurants are our faviorites. we've heard how fantastic this place was and finally just this recent january went for dinner.  wow, we were so impressed, we have been there now another 5 times.  the service is awesome, everyone is so nice.  regardless of what you ask for they accommodate.  the food, out of this world, so fresh.  we especially enjoy the mixed vegetables in peanut sauce with chicken and the pad thai with any of the meats.  love the colors and decorations of the restuarant.  they also have a wine selection that goes well with the food as low at $5 a glass.

love this place food is just one of the best in town! staff is friendly and food is really really good! i would totally recommend this place! for sure will be visiting again!

basil café an hidden gem!. my husband and i have dined at basil café for over two years now. we even have driven over 30 miles just for take-out (crazy, i know).

authentic + very tasty + very good prices + friendly staff + always fresh food + always smiling.

some of my favorites are the:
* vietnamese spring rolls
* tom yum soup, spicy & tangy tamarind-chicken based broth with lemongrass, galangal, kaffir leaves, mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, and onions. delicious! (spice level can be adjusted). tip: a bowl will serve 2-3 people.
* basil fried rice with chicken is the best stir-fried rice i have ever had. you can add in mixed vegetables, tofu, chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp.
* pad thai stir-fried thin rice noodles in the house tamarind sauce, with eggs, bean sprouts, chives, and roasted peanuts; with a choice of mixed vegetables, tofu, chicken, beef, pork, or shrimp.
* phó ga vietnamese chicken noodle soup, slow boiled over hours, daily, before served.

this place is an absolute gem!

best restaurant in appleton, wi. basil café is so good in so many ways. the restaurant is clean, comfortable, and inviting. the staff is super friendly and the take-out service is fantastic. now, the food. it is delicious beyond words. you can tell that the food is fresh and is cooked to perfection. the sauces do not taste like they are high in sodium however provide an explosion of flavor. i happen to like my food spicy, and basil café certainly accommodates that. generally, when you eat at other restaurants with similar menu items, you leave feeling like you ate unhealthy food. that's certainly not the case at basil café. my favorite dish is the spicy basil with chicken and shrimp at a 3 spice level. all in all, i'd be devastated if this place ever closed!

fantastic. wonderful dining experience. cannot wait to go back again and again and again! make sure you ask your server about the level of heat/spiciness. they have a wonderful spicy oil you can add if you are like me and love spicy food.

very nice atmosphere, good s.... basil cafe is a very good restaurant. the interior is beautiful, and the atmosphere is much nicer than at many thai restaurants. you feel as though you are in a much larger city than appleton. service is very professional and attentive.

i was there for lunch, and i ordered pho, with a thai iced coffee to drink. the pho and it was very large and filling. if i do have a criticism, it's that the pho was a little on the bland side. there are a couple of other places in the area where the soup is more complex and a bit more on the brave side. bottom line? i liked it and i will be back.

lets make it simple...best all around asian restaurant in appleton. and this is partly because the price is right and the foot is great.

delicious. went in to get carry out and wish i would have dined in! the decor was beautiful and the food, oh my goodness, the green curry with chicken was to die for, by far the best i've had! creamy but actually had spice without having to add any extra spices, a sign of truly great ethnic food! wish i lived closer so i could try the rest of the menu, everything looked so good.

um wow. this place is just great. there curry is the best in the valley. the green and red curry are delicious and even better is the curry located under the red and green curry on the menu (i forgot the name) but wow was it good. and must go to restraunt.

i am vegan and got delicious vegetarian/vegan food at the same price..!! i thoroughly enjoyed this place..! great ambience!

lets just say i wish this place was open 24/7... everything is perfect from the service to the cleanliness to the food quality and the food taste.

always a great dining experience. i have been a customer since they opened almost a year ago now. it has been one of my best recommendations for a unique and memorable dining experience, whether it is just for lunch or a nice evening meal. the food is excellent in both presentation and flavor. the staff is very friendly and always there to attend to your needs. they are very knowledgable on all the menu items. you may even get a surprise visit from sou (joy), the head chef. stop by sometime to enjoy a great meal.

we tried the basil cafe on a whim, and were wowed by the friendliness of the staff, the lovely decor, and most of all, by the savory food at an affordable price. we'll definitely return and bring our friends!
