a stylish european restaurant and wine bar situated in the heart of the city.. sydney established 18 years with many regular diners trading breakfastlunchand dinner with drinks, a long list of wines by the glass and classic cocktails.

selected by my favourite workday breakfast buddy, this previously unknown to me place was a delight. everything was just fine and sweet!
the highest priced regular coffee i have come across outside of perth but also the best in the cbd i have tasted so we were off to a great start. we were 'fitted in' as it seems bookings are wise even for breakfast at 7:30. the dining space is not large and the food is very very good so there is good reason why.
i had the frittata - very generously sized, light as a sponge cake and full of flavours from the prosciutto and chèvre cheese. my delightful companion had the alaskan crab omelette which i stole a taste of. this was delicious and will be my choice next time.
friendly staff and a cosy ambience to top off the savoury delights.
rarely do i recommend however in this case i offer this one up as well worth a visit. a longlunchis next up for us.

good food and wine list. a bit busy and cosy. maybe its christmaslunchseason but they were very slow. it was nearly 1 hour before the entrees arrived. the salmon was great.

the people working here gave me the impression that they enjoy what they are doing and care how service you - it was a really pleasant & friendly experience, even during cbd peaklunchhour. everyone smiled. they enjoy it so much they forgot to ask me to pay, but i could never leave without doing that. food is relevant, tasty and coffee good. prices very good, so if you want to feel like a customer again instead of a coffee cup statistic, drop in.

hit and miss.. to be fair this review is of a businesslunchfrom nov 1st 2013. i had written it but not posted it.

the steak frittes was cooked well, however had quite a bit of sinew throughout the steak.
the beef cheek pasta entree was very good.
there was a chip in one of the guests wine glass.
the pinot noir on the menu was a different year to the one served.
the light above our table continued to go on and off, this appeared to be attended to as it stopped after someone bought it to the attention of the staff.
the semifreddo had quite a bit of ice crystals throughout.
the desserts appeared to take a quite some time to be served even though we appeared to be the last remaining table in the restaurant by the time we ordered.
should a table order sparkling water i would think it to be custom to ask if they would like to order more, as apposed to automatically continuously replenishing the order and adding the items to the bill.
one final annoyance that i would not expect at a restaurant at this level is a guests dish being served to them by leaning over and in front of another guest (across the table).

peerless setting, buzzy atmos, smart winelist, fair food, and delightful service (our experience at least, noting others haven't been so fortunate). looks to be as appealing for breakfast, coffee or dinner as it was for ourlunch(and nightcap on another visit). will be returning for a special occasion.

sydney's best kept secret is out!  opposite leafy green hyde park. at the start of another working day breakfast is enjoyed in morning sunshine.  while at days end it transforms into an intimate bar. (don't get me wrong it also serveslunch& dinner) i have mental block about going to the same place for breakfastlunch& dinner excepty own kitchen. this is one of those exceptions where i look fwd to eating on an outside clothed table during the day & drinks/dinner in a more intimate interior after dark.  ate:   perfectly poached wobbly eggs with a side of spinach & brandy cured salmon.  drank : orange & cranberry combo excellent ground coffee - latt'e x 2  service : professional waiting staff are very helpful in seating guests quickly with no fuss.   recommend

great clientlunchexperience. as soon as i got there, i had a feeling this was going to be good... the decor had an old school charm about it, in a beautiful building with high ceilings and a heritage listed feel.
i ordered the figs and wagyu to start with. it was awesome, the perfect combination of sweet, bitter and savoury and with a nice bite from the aged cheese. for the main i ordered the pappardelle with lamb, and a side of zucchini salad. both were very good.
my client was very impressed and it is easy for me to say that i will be back for sure. maybe i'll take e (my wife) next time ;-)

infallible lunch. superb service, food and surrounds made for a memorable experience. there are always seasonal specials on offer and i recently had the (special) pan-fried john dory with celery heart and fennel salad dotted with ocean trout roe. the darling mills mixed leaves were refreshing and also well-dressed. shared an entree of the italian buffalo mozzarella served as a whole round blob with mixed tomato slices, finely shredded red onion, baby herbs and a sweet balsamic and olive oil dressing. sublime! book ahead even for a weekdaylunchif possible.
