a regular stop when visiting sydney from new zealand. perfectly sited to the cbd shopping. beautiful, classic architecture to the entrance and lovely warm, panelled ambiance inside. a formal feel both in the service, white linen table cloths and food presentation. usually we arrive for brunch and invariably i order the same thing - the poached eggs, with gravlax and hollandaise on toast. i think bambini does this better than anywhere - the hollandaise is good, the egg perfectly poached - but what makes it special is the sourdough treatment with the bread compressed into a thin perfect layer rather than the usual door stops that bulk out the majority of egg breakfasts elsewhere.
for breakfast, for this dish, bambini is highly recommended.
