a very fortunate afternoon.. christopher was kind enough to open for lunch this past saturday so our graduate could celebrate in style - and did he ever. we all did.

there were quite few large parties throughout the restaurant and everyone seemed to come in at the same time. we were a little unsure, i'll admit, how this was going to play out.

it couldn't have gone more perfectly, at least from what we could tell. our experience was amazing. watching the staff was like watching a finely tuned orchestra. our server was great. he has a knack for details and treated us like royalty while providing quite an amusing, yet appropriate amount of comedy. when our food came, all of the servers suddenly came together as one unit and served each of us exactly what we ordered. i remember that type of thing to be one of those magical details of eating out in paris and new york with my parents as a kid. that type of thing makes you feel like a person, not just another face having your food auctioned off to you.

the food.... the food was incredible. we didn't know until we arrived that the steaks are hormone and antibiotic free, the chicken is free ranging, the seafood is wild and is served within hours of being caught. it makes a huge difference and we feel it warrants the prices.
my husband and kids said that any futuresteakdinners elsewhere will be a lackluster experience forever more, unless we are at b. christopher's, or more steakhouses take this approach and then rival this excellent service ethic.

we were stunned that gratuity was not included when the bill arrived. the waiter told us that the tip was "our business" when we told him that he forgot to add it. my 76 year old mother was more perplexed than we were. perplexing, and refreshing.

this place has the right ideas when it comes to good, down to earth service and exceptional treatment/appreciation of their guests. we tipped appropriately, and it felt nice for a change to have that choice. we left feeling proud of not only our grad, but with a new pride in greensboro. mr. russell is raising the bar and setting a new example of having pride in a job well done.

nice locally ownedsteakhouse. this is a very, very good, locally ownedsteakhouse - beef is the headliner, as it should be, but the supporting cast more than holds its own here. the service, once in gear, is excellent. the wine list is more than adequate, if a little on the pricey side. the apps, salads, sides, and soups are more than just nice - they definitely add to the experience.

the first impression here is that of a small place, but that would be misleading. rooms are plentiful, rambling in nature, seating is abundant. the bar is narrow, compact, but attractive. the martini cold and consists of a large pour.

now the food: the oysters rockfeller were close to the best i've been served - the fresh, crumbled bacon absolutely set off the large, moist oysters. the wedge salad was fresh, and loaded with flavor. the french onion soup continuedthe theme - excellent, rich broth; great onions and cheese.

the bone-in ribeye (22 oz) is very nice - and cooked at rare+ as requested. this entree is designed to be shared, and you get a side , as well - i would recommend the onion crisps and fries - life is short, so if you become addicted to them, how long can it last?.

the wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable, the kitchen quick and efficient - the chef brought oursteakto the table, and wanted to be sure the preperation was what we wanted - it was. this is not an inexpensive place, but the pricing is in line with the quality here. we'll be back.
