a very fortunate afternoon.. christopher was kind enough to open for lunch this past saturday so our graduate could celebrate in style - and did he ever. we all did.
there were quite few large parties throughout the restaurant and everyone seemed to come in at the same time. we were a little unsure, i'll admit, how this was going to play out.
it couldn't have gone more perfectly, at least from what we could tell. our experience was amazing. watching the staff was like watching a finely tuned orchestra. our server was great. he has a knack for details and treated us like royalty while providing quite an amusing, yet appropriate amount of comedy. when ourfoodcame, all of the servers suddenly came together as one unit and served each of us exactly what we ordered. i remember that type of thing to be one of those magical details of eating out in paris and new york with my parents as a kid. that type of thing makes you feel like a person, not just another face having yourfoodauctioned off to you.
the food.... thefoodwas incredible. we didn't know until we arrived that the steaks are hormone and antibiotic free, the chicken is free ranging, the seafood is wild and is served within hours of being caught. it makes a huge difference and we feel it warrants the prices.
my husband and kids said that any future steak dinners elsewhere will be a lackluster experience forever more, unless we are at b. christopher's, or more steakhouses take this approach and then rival this excellent service ethic.
we were stunned that gratuity was not included when the bill arrived. the waiter told us that the tip was "our business" when we told him that he forgot to add it. my 76 year old mother was more perplexed than we were. perplexing, and refreshing.
this place has the right ideas when it comes to good, down to earth service and exceptional treatment/appreciation of their guests. we tipped appropriately, and it felt nice for a change to have that choice. we left feeling proud of not only our grad, but with a new pride in greensboro. mr. russell is raising the bar and setting a new example of having pride in a job well done.
