nice locally owned steak house. this is a very, very good, locally owned steak house - beef is the headliner, as it should be, but the supporting cast more than holds its own here. the service, once in gear, is excellent. the wine list is more than adequate, if a little on the pricey side. the apps, salads, sides, and soups are more than just nice - they definitely add to the experience.
the first impression here is that of a small place, but that would be misleading. rooms are plentiful, rambling in nature, seating is abundant. the bar is narrow, compact, but attractive. the martini cold and consists of a large pour.
now the food: the oysters rockfeller were close to the best i've been served - the fresh, crumbled bacon absolutely set off the large, moist oysters. the wedge salad was fresh, and loaded with flavor. the french onion soup continuedthe theme - excellent, rich broth; great onions and cheese.
the bone-in ribeye (22 oz) is very nice - and cooked at rare+ as requested. this entree is designed to be shared, and you get a side , as well - i would recommend the onion crisps and fries - life is short, so if you become addicted to them, how long can it last?.
the wait staff is attentive and knowledgeable, the kitchen quick and efficient - the chef brought our steak to the table, and wanted to be sure the preperation was what we wanted - it was. this is not an inexpensive place, but the pricing is in line with the quality here. we'll be back.
