my favorite restaurant to go to in the 7 cities. theshrimp& grits are the best...well everything is the best. the waiter who resembles shaggy from scooby-doo is the dopest...basically, go here.

went there on 816 for a date. i ordered a side salad and quick seared tuna. my date order the steak andshrimpwith mashed potatoes and green beans. the salad can't complain, i had to have no croutons, perfect. the mashed potatoes were ok, tasted instant but seasoned well. green beans spot on. tuna, shrimpand steak tasted completely unseasoned. everything was cooked wonderfully, it just had zero seasoning. which was disappointing. likely won't be back because of this.

great seafood. we started out with an appetizer ofshrimpand grits, which was very good. the waitress was friendly, polite, knowledgeable and efficient. she was able to give advice when asked and even knew her beers. i had rockfish (as show on the specials board) and my boyfriend had a seafood platter, which we both thoroughly enjoyed. the rock fish was blackened and absolutely delicious. the price was high but worth the delicious food. even the sides are good (id go for the mac and cheese, hush puppies, broccoli or collards). it is a bit chilly in the restaurant so be sure to layer it up. i had a great time here and can't wait to eat here again! i'd give this place 5 out of 5 stars!
you should try it!

bad experience. not only were there still tails on theshrimpinside the stuffed jalapeños but there were bones in my friends market price fish and crab special. i had the mahi which was delicious aside from the random(probably bone) hard thing i bit into that straight up messed up one of my teeth. our waitress was snobby and when we asked for rang and water they forgot and we had to re-ask 20 mins later. one and one of the appetizer plates they gave us was dirty. very disappointed.

so last night......... ok, after careful consideration i must say.....my previous critique has to be retracted. my husband, myself and a couple friends of ours came to have a late dinner (on a saturday at 8 pm) we had no problem getting in and were seated right away. i have a long standing love affair with oysters and was craving some. this is definitely the place to come for fresh oysters, they are excellent here. i also enjoyed an oyster po boy with a side of collard greens, the sandwich roll was the only thing i didn't care for too much. my husband had catfish with rice pilaf and mixed veggies he exclaimed happily over all of it. our friends ejoyed their meals of the fish platter andshrimpplatter as well. cocktails were the bomb! just be sure to avoid the dinner rush so you don't wind up waiting long.

aw shucks needs to rethink.... if you wish to make reservations at this establishment you must have a party of 5 or more...that is ludicrous, since this place almost always has a 2 hr. wait. i've had better seafood.

see food. there is one universal truth in dining. the take away experience pales to dining in. my first dining experience here was a work lunch suggested by someone i trust wih a good palate. with a lot of sound choices on the lunch menu i went with theshrimppo boy. looked great when i sat down at my desk to eat...... but the roll was too thick and hard for the sparse amount ofshrimp(13 medium), and the spicy mayo overpowered the lightly seasoned seafood. anyone who's had an authentic po boy from a corner store in the french quarter knows (aside from the seafood) it's all about the roll and mayo.

i'll give this place one more try......dining in of course.

delicious seacreatures. decided to give this place a try after seeing it had a 91% on urbanspoon. hostess was nice, the layout of the restaurant seemed to feel a little off but i didn't mind. my bf and i ordered cilantro-limeshrimpas an appetizer for $8. it was pretty tasty but i probably should have ordered something else. we split a large combo platter between the two of us and man was it well worth it. it was served with lots of clams, oysters, mussells, shrimps, sausages, potatoes, two mini corn on the cob, and a pound of crab legs i believe. everything was steamed perfectly and was complemented with a side of extra cocktail sauce, melted butter, sweet butter for the hushpuppies, and some old bay seasoning in a 3 oz cup. the service was well deserving of my $10 tip. i would love to come back again although i wish i was old enough to try some of the many beers they had..

won't go back. food was mediocre at best. rockfish special was 20+ dollars and very little food. fish and chips are made with cheap crappy tilapia.shrimppo boy sandwich was good. waitress was an idiot. never even told us the specials, then we realized they were on a chalk board behind the bar with sloppy hand writing and she watched me strain to read them instead of just telling. when we asked her how the rockfish was, she said it was good and walked away to help someone else. will not go back!

worth the wait!. i've eaten here numerous times. i can only speak for myself. there is usually a wait but we've had great service every time. it's a small place but makes great use of the space. i suggest the blue points (when available) for oysters. they have great specials almost every day (look on the chalk board on the back wall). the bathrooms are clean and the staff is friendly and attentive.

brunch on sunday at 11:00.shrimpand grits and a bloody mary. enjoy.

7 pm saturday night. the four of us went out saturday at 7. we had a very short wait, everyone was nice. our waiter was a little late getting to us but they sat us so fast after the last guest got up it's no wonder. i had ashrimpcocktail (frozen shrimp) that was ok. great selection of ontap beers. the fried oyster entree was over cooked, the hush puppies were black almost. scallop entre was very good, nice scallops. the mac and cheese is very good. can't wait to go back and try the raw bar though. although this review isn't that complimentary the place is cool and very laid back. i like it but next time no fried food.

always a surprise!. i must say i lived in norfolk for more than two years before eating at here. what a mistake! i too am an avid non-smoker but even i will endure the smoke for the great food here. the soup of the day is a must. i have never been disappointed. fresh, rich and innovative, the soup is anything but boring. i always order off the daily specials board. the seafood is fresh and the variety means it is never boring. i have had scallops, shad, salmon, tuna, flounder, shrimp, sea bass to name a few. the preparation is spot on and the selection is usually paired with a veggie or a starch for under $20.
if va gets smart and bans smoking this place will be my number on choice for fish (yes before 456 fish, blue crab, etc)
