horrible first visit. i went to this restaurant in anticipation of having great italian food. after savoring over the menu all day, my designing women team and i embarked on what has become a miserable memory although our waitress, heather, was wonderful. at the recommendation of my friend, i ordered the chicken marsala - my mouth watering of memories of new york chicken marsala. however, it was a huge fat disappointment. the spaghetti was overcooked, gummy and the sauce was thick like heinz brown gravy in the bottle and it lacked white wine. the hostess and owners were extremely apologetic though no apology or dessert could erase the memory of what should have been great italian food. as my friend said to them, this isn't about getting a free meal, it's about principal and we still paid for our meals.

service is a crapshoot. the cheese fritters are good. the alfredo sauce in the chicken alfredo is always very soupy. oftentimes when i would go with co-workers and was not very hungry, the waiters and waitresses would let me order from the kids menu...the last time i attempted to do this, i was told they neeeever allow that. it was annoying that sometimes they do and sometimes not...be consistent. and never argue with a customer.

my favorite italian restaurant in jackson, hands down. have been eating here for years and have never had a bad experience. had today's special, the plantation chicken, as part of the restaurant week fundraiser for local charities. tender chicken with angel hair pasta and grilled veggies. also came with a starter salad and a baby piece of tiramisu! for $11, you can't beat this lunch.

huge disappointment. my dad wanted to take me out for a special meal to celebrate receiving my master's degree. we thought amerigo's would be perfect. impeccable service. when my dad tipped his wine glass over, it broke on his water glass. a mess that was cleaned up in minutes with little drama by a professional staff as we slipped into a nearby table. my hats off to the staff for attending to us so quickly!

but don't be fooled, the food was average at best. my crab cakes were bready and gummy, probably frozen then fried, but definitely underdone and with little crab meat. my portabella salad looked thrown together. terrible presentation with blobs of goat cheese and mushrooms hidden under a mound of greens that were warm and limp, as if they'd been sitting out in the kitchen too long.

my dad's fish looked nice as it was presented on a cedar plank, but the fish was dry with no cedar smoke imparted in it. our dessert, tiramisu, was a splurge for us, and again a disappointment. these weren't lady fingers, this was white cake that had not been soaked with coffee, just plain white cake. doubtful marscapone was used, but more a straight-up cream cheese frosting. i worked as a pastry chef at bravo restaurant in jackson and have made tiramisu a hundred times -- i know how it's made and this was not tiramisu!

i remember amerigo's when it first opened and i remember the food being much much better. i'm afraid amerigo's hasn't kept up its standards.

we put down $80 bucks for a dinner that was merely average. however we tipped out excellent waiter well, as he deserved it.

one of the greats!. my husband and i frequent this restaurant monthly! i loooove it! they don't have the best service and i've gotten frustrated several times with the hostesses (there were several tables seated before us that arrived after us on many occasions). nonetheless, their food is some of the best italian i've had. i wish macaroni grill was still around, i'd live there!!

this italian eatery is a jackson (or should i say ridgeland?) favorite, and for good reason. i've eaten there three times in the past month, and my love for this place continues to grow. the most recent of these three trips was to grab lunch to go. i called amerigo to place my order, but i wasn't exactly sure what i wanted (i am sure i'm not the only one who has this happen, right?). amerigo has an "$11 deal" on lunch to go, and i knew i wanted that - but i didn't know what food options were possible or that i even wanted. brandie took my order and explained that the $11 deal covers food, drink and a small piece of tiramisu as well as tax and tip.she also went on to describe the daily special, which was one of the available food options for this lunch deal. before she even got through the whole description, i knew i wanted the special

solid. not authentic, but did you expect that? service can be a little iffy sometimes. the fried artichoke hearts are not on the menu, but are available as an appetizer and very worth it. my favorite is the straw and hay, which is always request-able, and not always on the menu. i believe they may be under new management at the time of writing this. new menus, saw a new face wandering around and discussing the meal with the diners. can sometimes get very busy, and have had bad service a time or two, but no restaurant is on the ball all the time.
