simple but good food. there's not a lot of menu items and half of the menu isschnitzelbut pretty authentic and well made. the desserts weren't too sweet either.

ausgezeichnet! the owner brothers took pity upon us and went out of their way to accomodate us one afternoon. it was well worth the effort. bestschnitzelever. we tried both the rahmschnitzelwith spatzele and sauer kraut, and the jagerschnitzelwith potato dumplings and red cabbage. both were excellent. huge portions, gravy well balanced and melt in your mouth. had to stop eating to save room for the apple strudel. flaky homemade crust. an excellent ending to a perfect meal. beware of the hours as they close between lunch and dinner. and note that most evenings need reservations. put this on your must-eat list. best german food we've eaten outside of germany.

great food and atmosphere. we had a wonderful lunch here. we both had the wienerschnitzeland it was awesome, and the sauerkraut and dessert especially were delicious and i thought the best out of any german restaurant we've ever been to. we liked the atmosphere of a quaint historical building with exposed brick walls and antiques. we'll definitely be back!

best german lunch ever. new braunfels has a reputation of having authentic german food so i went in with high expectations and wasn't disappointed in the least. we dined for lunch so their menu may have been slightly smaller than at dinner but their were too many tempting choices already. after careful consideration my husband had the daily lunch special some sort of german meatloaf with fried potatoes and sauerkraut and a beer while i had the pork wienerschnitzelwith spatzel and red cabbage. for dessert we shared a piece of black forest cake. the food was outstanding homemade with lots of love which came through with every bite.

my new favorite!. i can't say enough about the wonderful experience we had at alpine haus over the weekend. beginning with the initial greeting we received from the host, to the exceptional service we received from our server, and the outstanding quality of the food, this is the best restaurant i have been to in a long time.

we started with the fried brie cheese garnished with black forest ham (don’t overlook the jam on the side!). the salad that came with the meal had a wonderful house dressing and my dinner of wienerschnitzelwith fried potatoes and red cabbage was amazing. we will definitely be back! many thanks to alpine haus team for a most enjoyable evening.

best german food in town. we've been to the big name places in new braunfels, freisenhaus, schobel's, krause's when it was open. of those, krause's was our go to place for german food.
alpine haus opened up several months ago and it's take the place of all the rest. set in house that may have been a sunday house a hundred years ago, the food is dang near perfect. 4 of us went on a thursday night with reservations and was glad we had the reservations. people were being turned away. we were promptly seated, had a cocktail, then ordered our meals. theschnitzelwas cooked to perfection, my wife ordered the jagerscnitzel and i had the rinder rouladen. her jagerschnitzel was perfect with just the right kind of tangy sauce with fresh mushroom slices adorning the meat..my roulade was real german style with the requisite pickle stuffed in the middle and a sauce that went very well with the meat. the sides of potato dumplings, red cabbage and spatzle were homemade, very fresh, and all was served piping hot, not standing under a warming light for minutes on end. this place deserves all the kudos listed here, it really is that good.

a german restaurant owned and run by germans! i brought my family here for lunch, and everyone loved their food, even my son the "picky eater". seriously, the sausage were terrific, theschnitzellightly breaded and flavorful, and the black forest ham and asparagus rolls were fresh and delicious. we topped it all off with a fresh apple streudel...wonderbar! i want to come back for dinner and try the rouladen, and a cold warsteiner.
