sometimes you have to visit a business and makeup your own minds. we visited thisplacebecause my husband wanted us to experience a german restaurant ambiance and food. the waitress that served us lacked customer service skills. we reached out to the restaurant after arriving home from our vacation and discussed the service we had received. the manager stated clearly there was nothing they could do to make up the visit without the owner’s permission. so she left a message for the owner to call us back. which today he did. to our surprise he was rude and condescending and stated “after digesting the food we had buyers remorse “. he even said it’s like calling the mcdonalds owner and saying we didn’t like the fries. that we are wasting his time. wow! never did we get an apology for our experience or any empathy about the experience we had. this waitress was rude and lacked people skills. my husband tried asking her what she recommended off the menu, and her response was “why do you care what i like”? only afterwards to make a suggestion and follow up with “are you happy now”? i have never experienced this type of service. we felt it was due to our skin color as sadly as that may sound. only for the restaurant owner to call and act a little worse than the waitress. he said customers “don’t pay for service”. we paid a bit over $160 for a bad experience. i won’t advise against going, but for that experience i could have gone to dick’s instead and had a better experience. both my husband and i have worked in customer service and have never encountered an owner that doesn’t care about the experience of his paying customers. just be warned that they care about the revenue, not the customers. someone should tell them that the customers are what keeps a business successful. we will never step foot in this establishment again.

excellent food and service. be sure to make reservations because it is a smallplaceand very popular. they have good accordion music during dinner. staff were very friendly.

wunderbar!. authentic german food is definitely served here. we just drove from san antonio for a sunday lunch with my authentic german mother - even she was impressed. they were accommodating to put us near a window so my mother could see better. food, service, and ambiance was perfect. extensive german beer list. we started with the german potato soup - not what you get at other restaurants - unbelievably better! we had the "special" which was pork tenderloin with mushroom gravy, spaetzle, and red cabbage. we also had the rinder goulash - beef - with dark gravy over spaetzle. the sausage platter was plenty of food - weisswurst (veal) and knackwurst were spot on. spaetzle and red cabbage were seasoned perfectly according to the german at the table. beautiful littleplacethat is a historic landmark built in the 1850s. i'm glad the masses haven't found this place. i'd like to keep the secret to myself. what a wonderful meal and service. we'll return!

best german food in town. we've been to the big name places in new braunfels, freisenhaus, schobel's, krause's when it was open. of those, krause's was our go toplacefor german food.
alpine haus opened up several months ago and it's take theplaceof all the rest. set in house that may have been a sunday house a hundred years ago, the food is dang near perfect. 4 of us went on a thursday night with reservations and was glad we had the reservations. people were being turned away. we were promptly seated, had a cocktail, then ordered our meals. the schnitzel was cooked to perfection, my wife ordered the jagerscnitzel and i had the rinder rouladen. her jagerschnitzel was perfect with just the right kind of tangy sauce with fresh mushroom slices adorning the meat..my roulade was real german style with the requisite pickle stuffed in the middle and a sauce that went very well with the meat. the sides of potato dumplings, red cabbage and spatzle were homemade, very fresh, and all was served piping hot, not standing under a warming light for minutes on end. thisplacedeserves all the kudos listed here, it really is that good.

best food this side of germany. welcomed without a reservation to a most elegant and well managed restaurant.....the staff was exceptional, friendly, but professional....the food was all cooked fresh, beautifully served..and absolutely delicious. theplacewas very quaint, european-clean and comfortable. we will be returning as often as we can get to new braunfels....and we will be telling all of own friends about it. it was suggested that we do call for a reservation....to assure a table.....

alpine haus was wonderful. all of the food was fresh & delicious, the fried brie was to die for. the service was superb, the waitstaff friendly. thisplacehas a high rating for a reason.
