almost famous burgers

almostfamousseems to have some kind of anti-marketing strategy. banning photography (not that it stopped us, we got sneaky!), professing to be anti-blogger and anti-press, and having zero signs on their building that would indicate that a burger restaurant is there. so i’ve no idea how people started finding out about them in the first place! i can only imagine that trying to make it a secret and banning photog

suffering from one of the worst hangovers of my entire life, what better time for me to head to my local burger bar and see what they've been up to? to say the previous 7 days for almostfamoushad been a week to forget was something of an understatement and i was intrigued to see whether all this bad publicity may have had much effect on business.

i’m not a fan of manchester burger juggernauts almost famous. we visited last march and found the burgers over cooked, the fries soggy, and the rhetoric annoying. i’ve been told by numerous people since that it’s improved which i’m sure it has, however i just can’t get over being told by the bartender that ‘all bloggers are arseholes.’ this scathing comment took me back to being 17 years old when i was told by a random girl that i ‘looked like a bitch’. my response to both comments was the same, ‘oh’. with it being newly open, i didn’t want to write a bad blog post (the bartender may take this as proof, that i too am an arsehole), so i just kept schtum and didn’t go back. i know i’m in the minority. it seems most of manchester is obsessed with those sweary, shouty chaps and the only time there is no queue outside is when it is closed. recently, i heard news that made me consider a truce. almostfamouswere openin

i absolutely love almost famous, it’s the epitome of indie chic, the burgers are amazingly good and the service is efficient. yes, it slightly more refined than the old almostfamousbut that’s not really a bad thing. and at £15 per head, i left with my wallet as full as my stomach. almostfamoussomehow manages to live up to all the hype and that’s why i call this restaurant a manchester institution.

...the almostfamousburger which i ordered was simple, a well cooked moist patty with lettuce, tomato on a brioche bun. this was a delight and as satisfying as a plain burger that i’ve had in a while. by comparison the triple nom dwarfed the classic almost famous. a burger with added pulled pork and copious amounts of sauce i was envious as mine did not quench my hunger. it was at this point when i observed the triple nom being demolished that the name for the blog came to

immature rubbish !!! avoid. if you need a better explanation of why almostfamousis sh*t and is trying too hard then
look no further than the beautiul and classy way they present you with a nice glass of wine
to start your evening ......... in a effin jam jar ..... arghghg !!!! ... you pretentious little swines.
now that's out of the way lets get onto the food........ drum roll , its awful ., probably made by the
same stand off too cool for school/ underpants showing student gimp as serving drinks behind the bar.
the burger . wafer thin patty, burned , greesy sloppy uncared for garbage.... more sweaty onions than a frenchmans armpit. awful.
we had some laughable fries to go along with it that to say were overseasoned is being really kind to my
studenty chums at almostfamous.... these things are inedible. its like taking your entire spice rack and
systematically snorting the lot in one fell swoop .
we found our own way out of the building as quickly as possible ......... you young upstarts take my advice . stick to daft punk/ house parties and swearing at each other maaaaannnn !! .... great food isnt your forte .

ps... noone appreciates swearing on a menu in any way shape or form , even your contemporaries [if they werent too cool to admit it]

as with anything that's put on at almostfamousyou know the crazy amount of dedication and passion that has been poured in to every detail of every dish and at pig out, you could definitely taste it.
