very disappointing!. thewaitwas long, but understandable for a saturday night. i was hoping aj's would have a larger seafood selection.. almost everything is fried, which is good for some people, but i wanted fresh steamed seafood! i was going to get crab legs, but 1 lb. of snow crab with no sides was $17.00! i think that is extremely overpriced! my husband ordered the crab burger. the crab burger was small and the tomato was sliced extremely thick. his fries were limp and lifeless. no crunch whatsoever. they may have been sitting under the heat lamp too long. i ordered the fried oyster po boy and did not find it very exciting. not at all like the wonderful po boys i see on food shows or online! just a plain bun with 5 fried oysters on top, sauce on the side and yet another extremely thick cut tomato. the hush puppies tasted ok, but were small. my margherita was very salty. on another note, the staff was friendly and attentive, and it was nice having a live singer. honestly, i would not come back.. the prices andwaitare not worth it!

just don't get it . . .. our first attempt to eat here there was an hour and half wait. the next day we arrived earlier and we just don't understand the fuss over this place. yes it is on the water and the sunset is nice but the food is just okay at best and they only have bottle beer. basically i could had cook dinner and cracked open a cold one and walked outside of our condo and had experience the same as at aj's without all the crowds. thankfully on the night there was an hour and halfwaitwe order carry out from the sundae cafe and that has been the best seafood so far!

by far the worst service we’ve had on our visit to tybee island!!! we took a seat inside to avoid thewaitand waited for our waitress for drinks and refills all night! thankfully our food was brought out by someone else and we got the opportunity to ask them to get her for us or we may have never seen her!!! i’m giving 1 star because that’s the lowest i can give. to be completely fair the food was good not great but we had to choke half of it down without a drink so it was very hard to enjoy!

fried grouper and shrimp is the best on the island. the homemade key lime pie is excellent also. sit on the covered patio. oh, and be ready towaitfor your food to arrive. they take their time but it's worth the wait. best fried seafood on the island.

succulent. i am soooo shocked about some of the negative reviews that i been reading on here about aj's. i have been here a couple of times, and me and my mom just came back from having lunch there today, and again they never cease to amaze me-everything was fresh, service was great, we were seated right away. i have learned to appreciate great service, and fresh seafood when i get it, even if i have towaitan hour to get it-this place is worth thewaitin my opinion.

don't listen to the locals. apparently the locals love this place. personally, i'd rather lick the barnacles off of the pier than to ever eat here again. had towaitway too long to get seated, then had towaitway too long for food that was not good at all. the restaurant is disgustingly dirty and i felt like i needed to be hosed down after eating there. the food is about as bad as the service. oh, and the prices are outrageous!!

eat outside on the dock or skip it. food was slightly above average. portions are a joke, $10 for a deviled crab(singular). come hungry, leave hungry or broke, your call.waitstaff is extremely friendly but not very knowledgeable.

horrible food and service. absolutely horrible place to eat, i wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. the horrible experience starts the second you step foot in the front door; there was an odd and horrible smell throughout the front office and bar area. thewaittime was too long with several groups who arrived after ours did, with the same number of people, getting seated ahead of us. when we finally got seated dockside, the service started out good and just took a nosedive off the nearest cliff. half an hourwaitfor even the drinks and appetizers to get out, and another ten minutes for them to bring the silverware they forgot to bring out the first time. clock in another half hour for them to get our food out, and it seemed like it had been sitting out for a while. while the flounder i had was decent, the hushpuppies were cold and chewy and everyone else's dishes were cold and bland. the only thing this place has going for it is the atmosphere, and unfortunately that's not enough to save this place. avoid aj's like it was the plague

longestwaitever for food after being seated. i don't have a problem waiting for a table or waiting for quality food. but at some point thewaitaffects the dining experience. if we had not spoken to our server, i am convinced we would still be waiting for our food 1 1/2 hours after ordering. the volume of seating has overwhelmed the production of the kitchen. they need to fix this issue, unless they are happier with fewer customers. my crab stew and caesar salad with fried oysters was very tasty.

one of the worst experiences. not only did wewaitforever to get seated, they seated bigger groups before us. then after waiting fifteen minutes just for someone to take our drink orders, we ordered four appetizers. they told us two separate times that they were out of two of our apps. it took us an hour an a half to get appetizers that were pretty horrible. tasted like the "fresh" shrimp came from the frozen isle at publix. it's such a shame it was our first dinner out on vacation. when our food wasn't coming out we asked where it was and the managers/staff were incredibly rude and we ended up having to pay for the food we took maybe one bite of. the expo girl slammed our food down and didn't even ask if we needed anything. i expected more hospitality from people that have a restaurant where people vacation. it was such a terrible time, and i will definitely not recommend this to anyone or go back.

painted skies and good food. it would be difficult to match the ambience offered at aj's. the rustic atmosphere brings the past right into the present. when combined with the view of the marsh and river, as well as one of god's sunset masterpieces, you are provided with "natural diversion" that makes anywaitfor your table worthwhile. once seated, enjoy any of the numerous menu items (mostly seafood-oriented). the victuals are deliciously prepared and served by a caringwaitstaff. weather permitting, you may like eating outside. enjoy. side note: it helps to be adept at "creative parking".
