aj's dockside restaurant

great weekday lunch we had here. fried shrimp po boy was very tastey in spite of the grocery store roll. gumbo was certainly acceptable and full of chunks of fish, scallops, shrimp, and sausage. wife had grilled chicken sandwich, not bad at all. the riverviewis awesome. nice trip overall.

so much better than the others. head and shoulders above the other, fairly widely-hyped tybee restaurants. our starter course featured big, fresh sweet shrimp blackened and served over creamy grits. corvina with cream sauce was extremely fresh and cooked to flaky perfection. fried flounder and shrimp were exemplary. friendly service and beautiful sunsetviewfrom the dock. after having tried two other widely advertised local restaurants, i would not hesitate to recommend that vacationers spend every evening at a-j's instead of wasting money and experiencing disappointment elsewhere.

theviewof the sunset was gorgeous. the conch fritters were some of the best i've had. the corvina with creole sauce was delicious and with extra sides could easily have been shared by two people. it was about a mile walk from our hotel and we needed that walk when we were done. the service was very friendly and good. will definitely go back when in the area again.

the food was awesome, and the sunsetviewwas amazing! we had calamari, fried shrimp, and corvina. all were cooked perfectly. we dined outside right as the sun was setting and thoroughly enjoyed it.

do not be discouraged because it is out of the way. very good food for the price. corvina was excellent. conch fritters were great. you do get enough to eat.viewin the evening is to die for. parking is ok if you read the signs. great service.

outstanding view. great place... quirky decor, but great food and an outstanding view. our food was excellent and the service good. it was an added bonus to find out our waitress was from indianapolis. we sat outdoors and enjoyed the fresh air and theviewand food were just the best.

bestviewin town. a great place to sit and watch the boats go by and get some great food. the crab stew is wonderfull. this is savannah (ok tybee) and we love our seafood fried and they fry it well. now there are other choices too, and everything i have ever had is great.

great setting, average food. this place probably has the best setting for dining on tybee. i had the fried shrimp and flounder dinner. the shrimp did not have much flavor, however, the house made cocktail sauce added some zip and dressed up the shrimp nicely. the flounder was nearly devoid of flavor and aj’s version of tartar sauce only further hindered any enjoyment. the hushpuppies were good and full of sweet flavor, complete with corn kernels in the breading. the coleslaw (also sweet) was fresh, crunchy, and tasty. the cilantro potato salad was disappointing. not only was it lacking any hint of cilantro flavor, but was almost overpowering with a tangy citrus flavor (lemon juice?). the restaurant was not very busy this january evening and service was very good. aj’s has a bar-like, casual atmosphere, complete with sticky tables (like mine) and just a general overall dinginess. i would not put on nice clean clothes and come here expecting a great date night dinner. iviewit as a good place to grab a beer and appetizers with friends while enjoying an amazing sunset.

skip the food. while the food was tasty at aj's, it was way overpriced for the amount received. however, theviewis absolutely amazing! i would suggest drinks and an appetizer while the sun sets!

took family and friends here last night. parking was good as we arrived by boat. food, service, andviewwere all top shelf.

surprisingly good. the dish i tried, spinach salad with added crab cakes, was excellent. the key lime pie was great, with a nice side of lime & whipped cream.
theviewwas very attractive. we tried the roof top look out dining place, but little bugs (sand fleas?) drove us in. i don't know if those are seasonal, but i'll take insect repellent next time. theviewup there was even better than in the restaurant.

amazingviewand great soup. aj's dockside was a great little place located on tybee island right outside of savannah. the restaurant is located on the dock of a canal amongst residential homes (when we arrived we almost thought we were in the wrong place until we saw the restaurant sign). patrons can eat inside or out on the dock overlooking the canal and the great view. the crab stew was amazing. i've never had soup with such big fresh chunks before. its a must have if you go here. my husband and a burger and i had a chicken sandwich, both were great!!

painted skies and good food. it would be difficult to match the ambience offered at aj's. the rustic atmosphere brings the past right into the present. when combined with theviewof the marsh and river, as well as one of god's sunset masterpieces, you are provided with "natural diversion" that makes any wait for your table worthwhile. once seated, enjoy any of the numerous menu items (mostly seafood-oriented). the victuals are deliciously prepared and served by a caring wait staff. weather permitting, you may like eating outside. enjoy. side note: it helps to be adept at "creative parking".
