abel's mexican restaurant

make the trip!. this place is really good. there are lots of choices for mexican food in the metro but this should be on everyone's list. as a first timer, we were given sometacosright as we sat down. i wish i would have asked them to keep sending them for my order. took home 1/2 my order for lunch, big portions. saw my buddies eat a monstrous burrito that will definitely be tried at some point.

first timers!. and we weren't disappointed! thetacoscavillo were awesome! the tamale was fantastic! there wasn't one bad thing we had tonight. i am trying to think of a mexican restaurant in okc that i like better. i am coming up blank. definitely worth the drive.

best mexican food in okc, hands down!. we frequent abel's regularly. i have never had a bad experience there. the staff is always friendly, and abel is a class act. it has been a pleasure seeing that restaurant grow from the tiny hole-in-the-wall that it once was, into a full-blown mexican restaurant. great food, and extremely friendly waiters and waitresses.tacosmexicanos are my favorite, but everything i've ever had is delicious!

amazing!. one of our favorite places to go if craving authentic mexican food. thetacoscalvillo are so flavorful and delicious as are many other things on the menu. service is always great and very attentive. this place is hands down, one of the best in okc! we often compare other mexican restaurants to this one when we venture out.

always excellent. abel's is the best authentic mexican restaurant in okc. it has become my favorite and the food is always outstanding. the staff is always efficient and very attentive. i especially enjoy the bisteck ranchero and the softtacosare a close second, but everything is very good.

i keep coming back!. man oh man! the best mexican in the okc metro that i've tasted...after 9pm they only have their taco menu but it's cheap and extremely tasty! ask for the grilled jalepenos too... the drink selection is one of the best i've seen with the ever popular horchata and tamarindo, among other aquas frescas, a fresh fruit case, freshly made salsas and sauces, excellent service and it's one of those places where all of the locals go!

besttacosin okc. if you can get past the boring atmosphere and cheap furnishings, you will find you get top notch service and some of the best mexican food around! the things we find they do better than other mexican restaurants:
1.tacos- the streettacosare so good and they're heaping, so if you want 3 just order 2 and you'll have enough leftovers to make 3! the taco menu is available all day, but after 9pm it's the only thing they serve along with quesadillas and tostadas. at $1.99 each thetacosalone are worth the trip!
2. fresh fruit - if you are looking for fresh fruit, come to abels. they have a great selection and if you catch the fruit artist at the right time, any ladies in your group will walk away with a beautifully carved flower out of a strawberry or melon piece. he's very talented!
3. salsas - the house salsas are very flavorful and not too spicy.

the service is usually very good, although many of the servers we've encountered speak very little english. they are all very friendly and helpful!

abel's has a special event room too, so you can have a family reunion, birthday or church/work/school group function.

oh my goodness!. friday night out with friends and we landed at abels ... the service was outstanding and the food was out of this world good!

the fajita beef salad plate was licked clean!!!

the chili relenio and cheese enchilada were both devoured!!!

the minitacoswere uniquely presented and enough for us to have leftover for supper again 2 nights later!!!

the sopapilias were deslish!!!

can't think of a better place to share with friends and family

what has happened to abels?????. the service is still very good, but what has happened to the food? where
has the flavor gone? when it was just a few tables in the north end the
food was the best. now the food is bland and ordinary. even the chips
that used to be so fresh must have been cooked in stale fat. guess we
need to find a new mexican restaurant.

our mexican eatery of choice. we have enjoyed abel's food since it was still a tiny eatery. it is clean,
the mexican murals are charming and most important the food is
outstanding. we particularly love the streettacosand boracho beans,
vegetarian taco salad, enchiladas, all excellent.

this was our fave. we used to love abel's. it was our favorite authentic mexican restaurant. it has gone down hill a little unfortunately. it's still ok and better than many other choices but it still makes me a little sad.tacoscalvillo on a good night can not be beat!

went here for lunch today, it was amazing! fresh fruit being cut for flavored waters when i walked in, a great first impression. i was with a regular and she did receive some special attention, so that may have made a difference, but we had relish, fried onions and jalepenos, and some littletacosbefore our food made it to the table. when the food arrived everything was hot and fresh. i cant wait to go back, this is my new go to place for mexican food! be sure to try one of the flavored waters when you visit.

this is what i would envision the cuisine to be! abel's has to be the closest thing to authentic you can possibly get in town! the streettacosare fresh and handmade, so are the salsas and the platter dishes! its all so good i cant possibly say enough!

delicioso. today was my second visit (first time was take out) and i invited a friend that regularly dines with me at various mexican restaurants in the city. we both had the lunchtacosand everything was really fresh and delicious. we especially loved the avocado sauce but i think their salsa and queso deserve kudos as well. we will definitely be back and will recommend abel's to others. great atmosphere, great staff, great prices too! a++
