make the trip!. this place is really good. there are lots of choices for mexican food in the metro but this should be on everyone's list. as a first timer, we were given some tacos right as we sat down. i wish i would have asked them to keep sending them for my order. took home 1/2 my order for lunch, big portions. saw my buddies eat a monstrous burrito that will definitely be tried at some point.

visited abel's on may 17, 2014 for the first time and only did so due to all the positive reviews on this site. my experience was such that i will not go again. my food arrived not to order, the server had not notated my order (and my request for a slight modification) on a note pad, and he only half-assed offered to fix it. i felt stuck paying for a meal that was not as ordered, i did not want to eat and only picked at. what i did eat was bland and virtually tasteless. quality of food and service seriously lacking and i will not go again.

the best tex-mex in okc!. this is our favorite authentic tex-mex restaurant in the okc area. they have good prices and great food. the service is always friendly and quick. sometimes it's crowded but just come back another time or wait for a seat. the manager (owner?) is normally comes by to say hello and check if everything was good. it's nice to have visit a place where you are appreciated as a customer.

when the cat's away the mice will play. the food is great, but the service is great only if mr. abel, senior is present at the time you visit. if he's not, the service is horrible. if he's there, he'll visit your table before you leave, asking you to return. if he's not, the waitress will disappear after bringing your main course, no ticket will be brought to your table, no one will ask if you want a sopapilla or more coffee, and instead of an invitation to return you get silent unconcern from the remaining wait-staff.

horrible rude staff!. terrible service and when my husband brought it to their attention while paying the manager was so disrespectful and rude. did not care one bit and basically said they didn't need our business. we will never return!

first timers!. and we weren't disappointed! the tacos cavillo were awesome! the tamale was fantastic! there wasn't one bad thing we had tonight. i am trying to think of a mexican restaurant in okc that i like better. i am coming up blank. definitely worth the drive.

muy bueno!. this is a place the local mexicans come to eat. it's more mex-tex than tex-mex, with real mexican meat varieties instead of the beef-flavored mystery meat at taco bell. everything i had was very competently done, and the staff is very friendly and helpful and solicitous. i'll be back and bring friends. also a good value, prices very reasonable. muchas gracias, amigos!

food was good. steer away from the lunch quesadilla though. it's not a quesadilla. it's a soft taco with some cheese and chicken. however, the chicken was juicy, and seasoned perfectly. the chicken rellano is amazing, as well as the street tacos.

best mexican food in okc, hands down!. we frequent abel's regularly. i have never had a bad experience there. the staff is always friendly, and abel is a class act. it has been a pleasure seeing that restaurant grow from the tiny hole-in-the-wall that it once was, into a full-blown mexican restaurant. great food, and extremely friendly waiters and waitresses. tacos mexicanos are my favorite, but everything i've ever had is delicious!

awesome !. great food... some of the best authentic mexican and tex-mex i've ever had and i've had it in quite a few states.
super clean, nice wait staff, abel is a hoot. always something good to try there. i'm partial to their mexican taco menu(you have to ask for it).

the place was so cold i left my coat on until the food arrived.  the menu was unreadable and did not describe the food properly from what i could read.  ordered a chicken taco salad and it was more like a soup.  i was not happy and will not go back again.  this used to be a nice place, what happened.
