whenever i visit braamfontein i always see this lovely restaurant but i never have the chance to go in as we are always visiting neighbourgoods, finally one day when everywhere else was packed we decided to give theirpizzasa try. on a saturday afternoon the ambiance of braam is so inviting. the atmosphere and aesthetics are great and the pricing is so reasonable!

they only servepizzaswhich is fab and they have a delicious selection. they also have the option of choosing your own crust and sauce, which is a lovely idea. because i was a bit strapped for cash, i couldn’t try the different options, but i’ll definitely go back to try their beer crust. the bases are thin and they put just the right amount of cheese. i ordered the bacon, avo, feta and chilli pizza and my boyfriend ordered the salami, onions, plum tomato, mushroom and chilli pizza. they were both superb!

i would definitely return!!

i don't like the location and atmosphere at all.

however, the service is good and thepizzasaren't half bad. it is sad thatpizzasare the only thing you can order.

it's also on the entertainer app which is great.

lovely warm smell of the open woodfired pizza oven soon as you enter (the ash does drift out and over the restaurant and you get covered in it if you sit close to the oven, but the waiters make sure to wipe things down.) the #saladpizza gets too mushy in the middle so not a great idea - better to have the foccacia separately from the salad. good, fresh ingredients cooked well, very nice. good service. didn't taste the rosemary or lavender in the #lavender, rosemary and rose mojito and it was a bit sweeter than a mojito should be, but otherwise nice. will return for the chickpea salad, cheeseless veg pizza (choice of 3 bases and sauces) and to try the other cocktails. oh, and thursday lunchtime you get a large pizza for r70 or 3 largepizzasfor r200! definitely a must try for that authentic woodfired taste.

86 public braamfontein is vibrant and has a very relaxing atmosphere. thepizzasare amazing! the staff are great and it is an all round lovely time.

the pizza at this place is amazing. theirpizzasare accompanied by the yummiest cocktails. my personal favourite is gin and passionfruit. their pizza and cocktail combo will never fail you.

i am going to make another really audacious statement and call this restaurant the best pizza place in johannesburg. every time i go, i am amazed at how great their pizza is. it may even taste better with visit.

this is an adorable little pizza place that is placed well in braamfontein. it isn’t really big, which is perfect because it allows everyone to get the treatment they deserve, and make sure allpizzasare made to perfection. i would recommend it for summer afternoons when the sun is out to play. there is a lot of outside seating so it is better when it is warmer to avoid a cold date out. as often stated, the smaller the restaurants the more they allow for more personal interactions.

the restaurant would be great for people who are coming together for an informal business meeting, or a cute lunch date with a friend or a partner, or a good place to eat when trying to show someone a day out around johannesburg and need a good place to eat. it is perfect for those small interactions that aren’t meant to last really long, just long enough to have a meal. it allows for deep conversations to occur because you have no one else to listen to but the person you are with. so it is ideal if you’re looking for that. there are also many business offices around so it would be col for a lunch break, you don’t always have to have a deeper reason to eat out.

there were people of many different types at the restaurant so it would be unfair to limit it to a certain type of group. it is obviously important that you come with a pizza lover so they get to enjoy the greatness the food has to offer but either than that, it is pretty much a free for all. i would typically associate braamfontein as a student area due to the several students roaming around because of the convenience, as well as for the alternative adults who are looking for a lunch break. so this place could interest them more than others.
pizza by itself is already life changing, but it might even touch your soul when bought from this fine place.

a nostalgic visit to my student day stomping grounds. what a pleasant surprise. stopped at 86 public for lunch by chance and what a find. superb ambience, great service and one of the bestpizzasever. will be back.

oh yes, this place hit the mark. it's very casual, allows for lots of people watching, their pizza menu offered a wide range of really differentpizzasand the watermelon and cherry mojito i had was amazing! both of ourpizzaswere incredibly good and the only reason we didn't sit around all day into the evening was because it got a bit chilly outside. the tunes that were played rather loudly in the afternoon were very vibey and people were clearly enjoying the music. my only negative comments are that the place is rather small and getting a table even at 3pm is an issue. the waitresses didn't try too hard to make a plan for us even though a few tables were reserved and stayed that way with no arrivals. we thus didn't get a table at first and needed to walk around the area for 15 minutes before coming back and then managed to snatch a reserved table that the waitress then allowed us to sit at. also, the high tables and chairs are pretty uncomfortable so opt for a normal table with normal chairs if you can. and my last tip, book ahead if possible. but otherwise, awesome!

"had a really nice time with my boyfriend at this place on friday night. braam really has a lot to offer yet it still outshone most of what's around. we had the no. 19pizzason whole wheat bases and washed it down with a margarita jug. bestpizzasever, and generous portions of both the jug and food. 10/10 on staff, atmosphere and food!

but they messed up my irish coffee so bad 😭😭😭😭... omg, no! 😷😷 it wasn't hot, and it had milk mixed already 😖😖😖...

i was there on a saturday afternoon a week ago. the waiters welcomed us quite well and we took a table that was outside because all the tables inside were occupied. it got cold quite quickly so we requested to move inside which we did without too many issues. the outside tables give you a view of the busy street with people passing around, taking pictures chatting etc..it's a good distraction.

we went there for a pizza and we received a really good pizza. their ingredients were fresh and the chicken on the pizza tasted quite nice. i have no negative critics about the pizza that we ordered. really really good pizza. looking forward to tasting two or three otherpizzasfrom 86.

the restaurant is very warm inside with their tall windows and comfortable chairs. the wood oven is a few meters away which is the main source of heat inside, that's a +1 during winter but the speakers were just by the door so it can get pretty loud which makes it difficult to talk softly and that forces you to raise your voice to talk to your partner or friends.

if you're looking to catch a quick bite and that bite happens to be pizza then 86 public is perfect. situated in the bustling braamfontein square the energy is very hip and creative also a wonderful spot to people watch. theirpizzasare delicious offering a variety of base options; gluten free, wheat free etc. the pasta dishes also look good but other than that there isn't much more variety to their menu so go with simple expectations. also a great place for coffee or lunch meetings.

we ordered a whole range ofpizzasfor the office and the options were endless.pizzaswere absolutely delish and had the perfect base. thepizzashere are very gourmet. expect ample toppings and unique combinations.
