if you're in the braamfontein area and are keen for a good pizza, this is the place to go. the selection of pizzas is interesting and different, but there will definitely be something for any taste. popped in for pizzas before going to the theatre and had nothing to complain about. in terms of atmosphere, what you see, is what you get, and the food is great.

you can never go wrong with a  bacon, avo, feta and chilli pizza at 86 public! awesome food, chilled vibes and an excellent way to unwind after a day at work :)

best cocktails in joburg! their dark mojito, watermelon cherry mojito and gin and passion fruit mojito are the beeeest!!!!!

i met up with a friend for pizza and cocktails at 86 public. it was my first time at this restaurant and i absolutely loved it! it's my kind of joint, the atmosphere is relaxed, cozy and non pretentious, the waiters are extremely friendly and attentive. i chose the mushroom, smoked ham, parmesan and fresh basil pizza while my friend chose the chicken, spinach, roast peppers, onions, sour cream and rosemary pizza to share. it was super delicious! we caught up over a few yummy cocktails and the manager gladly exchanged a cocktail i had chosen but ended up not liking. at some point i was craving some dessert but sadly there was none to be found on the menu. nonetheless, i really had an awesome evening, it was a great way to end off mandela day celebrations. this is my new favorite spot!

i was very excited to try this place, as i had heard wonderful things about the pizza. but, as it turns out, the pizza was fairly average. nice base, fresh ingredients, but the toppings were a bit sparse. i had a salami, roasted pepper and chilli pizza, and each pizza slice had a tiny piece of salami placed neatly in the middle. i mean tiny! and the peppers were few and far between. i am definitely not a fan of excessive toppings, but in this case i felt a bit cheated, especially given the price per pizza. the mojitos were divine though, and staff are very friendly!

hands down the best and most exciting pizza i've had in a very long time - possibly ever. the service was friendly and unobtrusive but prompt. a dark rum mojito set the right mood. they also have a good beer selection of craft and local beers for the less daring. the ambience in the city centre is relaxed and the music is more than in the background, but not so loud that good conversations can't be enjoyed.
we tried the number 24 and 18. i preferred the bolder 24. the only reason why it doesn't get a perfect score; you pay for the parmesan on the side and it's not the best parmiggiano! otherwise - the very best awaits.

i like the casual air about this pizza joint. it's well situated in braamfontein and just looks oh so trendy. i personally think the chairs are a bit too high but that's probably me just nitpicking! this place is a pizza place and their selection is varied and exciting. i've tried three pizzas here. all have been good. but not spectacular. there seems to be a little missing from them to make them truly great. this was definitely evident with the chicken tandoori pizza which could have had a little bit more going for it. you can always just add chilli and garlic though. i would, however, like to try the speciality pizzas with ingredients such as dark chocolate, figs and even brie to balance out the apples. if you're in the area, it's worth giving it a go!

i love this place.

the first time i went to 86 public was with a friend for an early dinner. the staff is super friendly and laid-back. they don't fuss over you the way some waiters do at other eating establishments.

the seats are comfortable and there's lots of natural light filtering in through the windows. it provides a good temporary escape from the busyness of the city and a big plus -- their margarita is amazing! absolute good news for vegetarians. very highly recommended!

86 public makes delish pizza!! i love #24 with the bacon brie and apples. its so cute! the apples are mini! love it! the base is unlike any other base in jhb. its almost like a pastry! so yum. service is good and the location is ideal. good place to go on the weekend!
