4 pines - keller door

we didn't order any food but from looking at the menu and what other people ordered, they serve up the usual pub food - sharing bites, burgers, schnitzels - perfect beer food.

great place. nice to have somewhere decent to eat and drink on the northern beaches at last. food is massive in serving size so it ends up as good value for money despite the price on the menu.drinks are great it's nice to support a local brewery. my favourite was the ginger beer. good mix of old and young and casual dress code. easy to get to as it's directly opposite the ferry. in fact if you're going i recommend the ferry so you don't worry about parking and fit in a few drinks. i thought the service was good. definantly going back.

i recently went to manly and visited the 4 pines brewing company , a little hidden pub near the ferry wharf which apparently also brews their own beer! mr c decide to try a house brewed cider though since it was a pretty hot day and it did taste really refreshing and better than any other cider i’ve tried!

4 pines have just been taken over by a multinational brewing company. quality has declined as a result. just had the old kolsch beside the new "draught" kolsch style beer. the new beer is terrible more like a carlton united beer. the old one was lovely. a real disappointment. how you can call it progress? i can only shake my head.

if you're after good pub food and beer to wash it all down this is the place to go. it was packed on a friday night and hard to find a table. we eventually got one outside looking out to the beach. i was pretty hungry and chose the manly mega burger which was both mega and manly as the name suggests. paired with the pale ale and i was left very full and satisfied. hubby had the beef pie which was a generous portion. great food, beer and atmosphere.

there is a lack of reviews since late 2017 and that's because this place has been completely revamped. it is now just a pub both upstairs and downstairs, with some bar food offered. food options not great and quite overpriced. beer selection still excellent but really surprised as the food here was very decent before.

i'm a manly local and i love buying four pines when i go to a pub or from the bottle shop (especially the ginger beer) however, i am not a fan of the manly venue.

for one i find the venue design (upstairs) really awkward and most of the tables aren't that nice to sit at, but of course, this is luck of the draw. secondly, i find the food to be ridiculously overpriced for what you get, $24 for a burger is really expensive and you can get much better elsewhere for a lot less money. finally, the staff have this high and mighty attitude. i am a bartender and waitress and i completely understand that sometimes it sucks to work in the hospitality industry but i was shocked at the attitude of some of the staff. i will continue to buy four pines when i'm out at other venues or buying from a bottle shop because they are amazing but i will not be returning to the manly venue.

was here last friday and was really impressed with the vibe and interior of the place!

i got the mushroom burger with sweet potato fries. the mushroom was very juicy and the blue cheese wasn't too overpowering. the sweet potato chips are very chunky, they are not greasy at all!

price is above average compare to other pubs and serving is a little smaller, but delicious nonetheless.
got the summer ale with my food, it is light and smooth. the girl at the bar also let me try it before i actually ordered it.

they have monday to wednesday specials, also plenty of vegetarian option to try out!

************
edit: their portion size has grown!? went there again 10 months later, the beef brisket sandwich is phenomenal!

love this place every time i go. the kinda place you can take mum and dad for a nice meal or the guys for a cracking night out. the tasting rack of beers if brilliant if you fancy trying a smorgasbord of excellent beers.

excellent beer, that was a given. but the food is also great. but i found the bartenders losing track of who has been waiting for longer even though there were very few people at the bar and serving people who came earlier later.

arrived quite late and still wanted to have some dinner. wanted to go to hugos', but kitchen had closed early. 4 pines had a sign which said they had a late night menu so we were hopeful we would be able to grab some food. their late night menu included 4 dishes, meat wasn't free range, and the only vegetarian option wasn't available. bit of a disappointment. had to eat something though so ate the meat anyway. had pulled pork sliders and beef pie. pork sliders were ok, bit dry. beef pie was nice, beef was nice and tender, crust was nice too. underneat the crust there was a half full bowl of the filling though, for a $25 beef pie they could have filled up the bowl. had a beer paddle as well. i like this spot for the beers, but their late night menu really didn't cut it.

very knowledgable and helpful staff. they assisted us to choose from a range of beverage and tapas. the meals were of a great value and were seasoned nicely. the only fault i could find - no wifi. we will definitely be coming back here!

nearly all of us have tasted it at some point, but how much do you actually know about beer? a sudden rain storm led us to seek shelter in 4 pines brewing company in manly but little did we expect this spontaneous visit to become an education in all things ale. first things first:  what exactly is beer? basically it’s a mixture of water, malted barley, hops, and yeast. sounds simple right?  surely this isn’t rocket science?
