13th ave food & coffee house

funky atmosphere and good food. the place reminds me of cafes i used to go to in the kootenay's in the 70's. my husband and i felt right at home! we really liked our ricebowls(jivin' jerk and sushi) and the espresso was hot and fresh. it's nice to find a (relatively) local restaurant that doesn't serve deep fried everything, chunks of greasy meat and watery fat-laden salads. kermit may find it hard being green but we find it hard being vegan in saskatchewan! it's great to find a restaurant that is into 'kind food', (though there are a few 'cruel food' items on the menu for those who need it).

smaller portions, consecutively getting worse.. i use to eat here at least once a week as it was fresh, delicious and local. the prices remain the same but the portions have been cut in half, ricebowlsare taste less and the vegan salad has close to no dressing and at most 4 small pieces of tofu which i add on. (they even changed the size of the small take out box.. which now fits the smallest amount of salad i have ever ordered).
i'm disappointed if this is due to new owners :(
unfortunately i'm needing a new favorite veggie restaurant.

portions getting smaller. living in this neighbourhood for years i have experienced the result of ownership change quite a few times now. i must say i find it rather disappointing to order items i've gotten time and again which are increasingly smaller each time i visit. for example, the veggie burger patties and the bowls. the portion size is not what it has been, not to mention i've noticed ingredients missing frombowlsi used to enjoy. ie/ red pepper gone from the lucky bowl :(.... it comes across to me as a way to cut costs by reducing value to the customer.

love it here. i've been a fan for years.... food is fresh, service is quick, menu items are healthy. i highly recommend everything on the menu, but my favourites are the guacamole wrap (fresh and crunchy), the big burrito, any of the veggie burgers or ricebowls(green curry one is a fav), the veggie chilli is excellent, and depending on the soup of the day- most often it is delicious too. place can be small, but a great place for you and a plus one for some intimate "coffee talk".

i love all of these people saying "since it opened in 2000 or since it opened a few years ago"!
i had my first date there in 1993; i had a market spice tea and for years i would go back to pick up a bag of that tea. i am sure it was not new at that time. so, yea, people - this place is not that new.
as a vegetarian since i was 12 (1989), i can say regina has often been lacking in vegetarian restaurants. (i still hurt over the loss of heliotrope to this day!!)
i do not remember when 13th avenue started serving vegetarian food (i can say they did not in 1993)... and i do not even know how many times this place has changed hands, so it is always fresh and different depending on who just took over the reins.
thebowlsare a direct rip-off from fresh (restaurant in toronto), bit is it all good - i love them!!! :) i am soooo happy we can get them in regina!!
i will say that i have experienced the negative customer service that many people have posted about here. i have seen some of the most atrocious customer service in this restaurant over the years. i also had some bad experiences with the food not being as tasty as other times.
it has been awhile, though, so perhaps new owners have taken over again and the staff are more friendly.
however, i just called in a big order for delivery and the bank machine was not working and i had to reduce my order to match the $20 in my wallet. disappointing.
provided the current owners can commit to employing good staff with kind hearts who provide good customer service.... (and make sure their bank machine works!) ... and the food quality stays high ... this place will, for me, always be a regina staple and near and dear to my heart.

love, love, love 13th ave. with my job, i have to travel a lot and i make a point to stop at 13th ave every time i'm in regina. i've had all thebowlsand could not choose one to be better than the other. i recommend them all! one thing is i wish i could buy there coffee in bulk where i live. it is amazing coffee!

wowzwers! blown away!. moved recently to regina and this place was highly recommended by friends. i was glad to show up around 11am to beat the lunch aficionados. i had ordered the tomato mushroom soup with with the very popular blue veggie burger. i was blown away at how good, wholesome, fresh and filling the food was! this is going to be my weekly lunch place...until i get through their high variety menu. the espresso i had was also a lovely blend. i'm thrilled to come back and try thebowlsor burrito everyone's talking about. this is not palace you want to pass up! joy.

this place is fantastic! the veggie burgers are delectable and the ricebowlsare soo tasty. will definitely be back.

great food!. always a great meal, tasty and very reasonably priced. burgers are very good and the marikesh stew wonderful. coffee is nice and strong. breakfastbowlsare filling. i highly recommend you eat there. very quaint and cosy. enjoy!

deliciously healthy. in my travels to regina from alberta i have had the pleasure of eating at this restaurant with my family. the breakfastbowlsare excellent with the assortment of fruits, quinoa, granola, nuts, cinammon in a variety of combinations to make a healthy nutritious breakfast.
my favourite is the veggie burger that is home made with roquefort cheese. it is the best!
the staff is friendly and have good customer service which makes the whole dining experience a winwin.
i would not hesitate to recommend the 13th avenue coffee house to anyone.

perfect. the 13th ave coffee house remains the very best place for lunch in regina. the ricebowlsare so good and the veggie burgers can't be beat. i love to grab a coffee and hang out inside during the winter months, and sitting outside on the patio with a glass of wine or beer in the summer is just as lovely.
i really can't recommend this place more! my only wish is that it was bigger - more seating would be great!
