great sandwich stop. visited zunzi's two times in a recent trip to savannah and was able to try the conquistador, fisherman's deck, and the godfather. all three sandwiches came on fresh french bread with lettuce, tomatoes, and zunzi's two incredible secret sauces. the salmon in the fisherman's deck was tasty and very tender, the pulled chicken for the other two was very juicy, and the sausage in the godfather was very flavorful. overall i would recommend zunzi's to anyone stopping through savannah, especially the godfather sandwich, for their fantastic flavors and laid back, consistent service.

veg labeling please.... i would love to see some vegan labeling on the menu. lots of people were waiting in line, and it's not a very ideal time for me as a customer to inquire what on the menu is vegan and what isn't. it'd be much easier if they made it clear on the menu.

but the person taking our order was helpful, and i did get a great mushroom sandwich. i'd hope for a few more vegan options (although again, with the menu, i couldn't tell what was or could be made vegan).

flavorbomb. this is place is absolutely amazing. very small place but packs a huge punch of flavor. the staff is very friendly and works fast. so as you wait in line, it moves quick. my wife had the conquistador and i had the godfather. we also had hummus and falafel balls with the tatziki sauce. too much food for two human beings but we managed to eat it all. as we prepared to bite into our sandwiches, we didn't even know how to approach it. it was enormous. the chicken breast is to die for as it has so much flavor and is very moist. the special sauce is to die for and the fresh french bread under all those fresh ingredients seems like it was just baked today. you will have to search for the bread because its hidden under the massive amount of chicken which is a great thing in my opinion. the hummus is so flavorful and it is served with fresh hot pitas. now to the falafel balls. they were the best i have ever had. i'm of arabic descent and i have had my share of falafel and this blew it out of the water. it was served with the best tatziki sauce. i am overwhelmed by the amount of flavor in this food. trust me, i know good food and this food is superb! must try!!

the chicken was juicy to the point that it was dripping. while that made for some interesting taste, it also made for a mess. the mess factor was also an issue with my sandwich, which was loaded up with several big pieces of sausage, melted cheese, marinated zucchini slices, hummus, tomato, and spinach. the french bread did a better job than the pita at containing and balancing out all those ingredients, but like bftb's sandwich, it was still and fork and knife job. my sub came with

i hate long lines, but..... we split a godfather at the suggestion of a local we were in line behind. i asked him what his favorite item was and he said "usually the last thing i ate here...everything is that good". the line was down the block to the corner, but the wait was more than worth it. one of, if not the best sandwich i have ever eaten. if we find ourselves in savannah again, we will eat every lunch here so we can try more of the interesting menu items. when in savannah, don't miss this stop...all the hype is true.

finally got back down to savannah and i was on a mission to try a new place. i decided on zunzi's and i was not disappointed. i ordered several dishes to share with la familia. the conquistador, the godfather, the vegetable curry with rice & chicken, & a side of the macaroni salad. everything was good. the chicken is all white meat moist breast chopped up fresh in front of you for the sandwhiches. the line is always stretched out the door because its a small take out place, no inside tables, but it moves very quickly so do not be discouraged. the godfather and conquistador are essentially the same sandwhich: chicken, lettuce, tomato & special sauce except the godfather also has cheese and choice of sausage added to the sandwhich. the sauce is just right, its like a zingy peppery tangy mayo sauce. the sandwhiches are not served with sides btw, must order separately. however they are freaking huge sandwhiches. 1/3 could easily fill the average person. i almost order the boerwurst south african sausage roll when the kind employee offered me a samples of the sausage as it was my first time there. as he predicted, it is a taste that not many like in a sausage and i am one of them. its grinded texture, like chorizo but its actually very sour in taste not so much savory and spicy, actually not at all. its more herby and fruity tasting and very strong. you either love it or hate it kind of thing. they also have a grilled kielbasa sausage, which is what i choose for the godfather. the sausage cheese & chicken work really well together on the sandwhich. the macaroni salad was recommend as the most popular to get and i see. coming from a guy who never orders mac salad anywhere because its normally terrible, this is good mac salad! it was great and had that once you start can't stop eating quality. its spiced just right, zesty bite like a citrus note, very refreshing. its not too creamy, in fact you wonder if there's anything on it at all until you dig in. has diced tomato, corn, mushrooms and slices of black olive(the best part) mixed in. the curry is unlike any version i've had before. for one, the curry is not thick and makes you wonder if they forgot to laddle it on. its actually very subtle. at first bite i was disappointed, byt the second bite was better. it is actually balanced just right, and not heavy and overpowering, although that is what im used to and looking for in curry dishes. i had chicken v
breast added to the dish at an upcharge since it is intended to be a veggie dish. it made the dish very satisfying and was not out of place. i look forward to going back one day. they close at 5 & 6 around dinner time not at 2/3pm end of lunch time fyi.
