it was ok. the menu names were pretty creative. the view is somewhat nice i thought. the burgers were average but sat like a rock after we ate. the fries remind me of burger king with the coating. not bad when hot, but steadily worse and greasy as they cool. the beers on draft kicked a certain amount of ass! the wait staff wasgreatand it seemed like they wanted to be there. not bad, but i don’t think i will be back for awhile. they didn’t hook me.

love the atmosphere!! concept is cool.
i looked this restaurant up on zomato! this app came in at a perfect time.
i checked all the previous reviews and we gave it a try!
it was worth it! we went on a tuesday evening. half hour wait. we were seated within the 30 min as expected. my spouse and six year old daughter sat at the bar.
bartender was very friendly, attentive, and informative.

we ordered the jalapeno poppers with the chipotle raspberry sauce. the sauce looks as red as blood. nice kick to it. poppers are bigger than average.

i ordered the #5 they're coming to get you barbara.
delicious. if you love cheese and grilled cheese, order this!greatcombination.
my spouse ordered the #12- t - virus. he said the patty was over cooked but good.

our bartender suggested the loaded fry basket. we shared it. lots of fries. they were good, but shoe string fries aren't ideal for the heaviness of these "loaded" fries. crinkle cut would be more ideal.

i will be coming back next time i am in the des moines area.

great experience!. not only was the foodgreatbut the service and teamwork was as well. the bartender recommended everything and was spot on across the board. my experience was awesome to say the least and consisted of 2 peace tree blonde fatales, a raygun burger, zombie bride cake shake, and the only choice for i made all evening *bottoms up* a zombie bomb.

what's not to like about this place -greatburgers & atmosphere. how can you not like this place. the outside is a bit non-descript. in fact, you might miss the dull green sign that is your only clue of the apocalypse inside. the restaurant has two sides. up front is a counter order and pay. in back is a sit down and be served. the queue line as you walk into the place is for take out or the seats along the side. make your way to the back on the left to find the hostess at the chain gate to let you in the back safe zone seating. the decor is fairly simple, but fun. enjoy all the zombie humor and signs.

the menu is even more fun than the decor. all 27 burger options have names like 28 days later (code for bleu cheese burger) and t-virus (code for swiss portobello burger). we were a group of 15 people, so we sampled just about everything. the grilled cheese burger was really interesting. it's two grilled cheese sandwiches with a burger between. my 28 days was really good. the bun was soft and buttery. the meat looks like it's smashed and then grilled. it carries lots of flavors. the fries are pretty good, so is the garlic bleu cheese fries.

this place is great. it can be inconsistent at times, and it can be absolutely packed when the convention is busy or kid events descend upon the place.

we usually like zombie burger- it can be a fun atmosphere and a lot of out of town guests have heard about it and want to see what it's all about. however, the service has always left something to be desired and today i was so frustrated by the terrible service we received from the hostess (who appeared to be foh manager or at least head hostess or a veteran staff person) that i feel the need to let you know, like many other reviewers: zombie burger couldn't care less if you take your business elsewhere. so i recommend that you do just that, because you can get agreatburger at so many other places in dsm- i recommend anywhere but here. save yourself the headache and the wait time and go somewhere that appreciates your business. this is the first negative review i've ever written for a restaurant, because i tend to err on the side of understanding that working in the restaurant industry can have its ups and downs, but the hostess was so unaccomodating and absolutely rude (i'm fairly certain she would have gotten into a yelling match with me if i wouldn't have walked out) that i wanted to let you know before you wasted your time like i did this afternoon.

just had agreatlunch.... at the continental. my wife and i pulled off of the highway in the middle of a seven-hour drive and landed in the east village. tried to get into zombie burger, but were not willing to wait 45 minutes to get a table. we walked around a bit and came across the continental. we were glad we did.greatfood. good service. and an interesting setting. if we are looking for a mid-drive spot again, we will know where to go.

ladies day out at zombie. got there early when they opened at 11. typical wait time for a popular place on a saturday. didn't seem long at all. seated at the bar and was instantly waited on. nick the bartender was excellent. he was very polite, offered his favorite choice and was very considerate.
ordered juan of the dead burger and was very pleased. other burger ordered was planet terror at nick's suggestion and was very happy. both single burgers and was plenty to eat. they weren't overly greasy as other reviews stated. ordered a side of fries and weren't anything special and ended up leaving them.
we ordered a carrot cake milkshake and loved it!!!! it was excellent. overall our first experience at zombie burger wasgreatand we are looking forward to another time to try a different burger.

i honestly think the people who don't like zombie are just being hipsters about it. it's too popular for them to like. i'm there at least once a month. beyond a little fruit fly problem at the bar, this place is my absolute favorite. the shakes are the best in town. the staff is quirky, but nearly all of them are friendly if you aren't rude to them. the burgers are properly griddled. the buns are ok, but i'm not there for the bun. the toppings can overwhelm, but that's why, sometimes, i just get a good ol' cheeseburger. you can taste just how good the meat grind is. but the toppings are sometimes beautiful. the undead guy bbq burger has amazing pulled pork on it. the fries are a trouble spot, but they've been improving. better yet, get the cheese curds or fried brussel sprouts. and if you can, go when tyler is bartending. not only does he know his stuff, but he's incredibly friendly & talented as all get out. the wait can be obnoxious during peak times, and the wait area is a pain for servers and patrons alike. but around 8 on sunday night, you can chat with total strangers at the bar and have agreattime.

num num!. i love the "east village of the damned"-- it's agreatmix of cheese, mushrooms and burger. their buns are super fresh! on the other hand, "the walking ched" is not a very good pick... two croquettes of fried/breaded mac-n-cheese surrounding a burger with more mac-n-cheese on it? the menu says "cheese bun" but that's an understatement!

lots of fun, greatfood!. i've only lived in des moines for a year, but i eat at zombie burger quite frequently - it's agreatplace to take friends and visitors who are looking for something somewhat unique. the staff is fun and are very fitting to the atmosphere. the burgers are delicious - beer selection is huge, and i'll be back many times more!

bad day or always?. my friend and i went there after the des moines arts festival. we went to the counter side. there were only a few people ahead of us and the place didn't look busy. the staff behind the counter seemed ok at first but as we sat and waited it became pretty obvious that none of them wanted to be there. there were like 4 people behind the counter, why i don't know, and i heard one say "i can't wait to get out of here" and she waited on us like she felt that way. the wait wasn'tgreatbut wasn't too bad. my friend got the one with the fried egg and said it was ok but nothing great, i got the east village of the undead and quite frankly it was just gross. didn't help that my burger was burnt but the "mushroom/cheese croquette" thing was a giant fried brick of crappy processed cheese that literally exploded when i bit into it. there were a few mushrooms but all i could taste was that cheese, which i tried to ooze as much as i could out of it and scrape off. i ate about half not because i wanted to but because i was starving and didn't want to try and find something else to eat.greatkitsch, terrible service, terrible food.

great experience. no idea what others are complaining about. i've eaten there several times and always had agreatexperience. burgers are great, fries are great, love the drinks and our service has been fine every time. several coworkers go there regularly and haven't heard a complaint. as good as or better than the majority of burger places you can find in the area. is it django? of course not. but its agreatburger place. if you're in a hurry and there's a long wait the counter side is quick.
