zen asian fusion

best japanese in town?. usually when i receive an outstanding meal and an outstanding service on a dining experience that's not that expensive, i write it off as a pleasant fluke. having visited zen asian fusion 3 times now, i can pleasantly say that this is not the case here.

food- a pleasant menu with a smattering of various asian cuisine with a focus on japanese. the prices are very, very reasonable, especially when matched against the quality of the food. the nonsushidishes are accompanied with the fine detail you would expect to pay $30-$40 an entree(and will if you eat at a similar outfit in new york or san francisco). thesushiitself is even better, easily outclassing tsunami and pretty much every other japanese offering in town. the attention to detail and knowledge of the inner workings ofsushiare proudly on display here, thesushichef knows his stuff. 10/10

service- the service is above average, drinks stay filled and you are regulary checked up on but not in an intrusive manner. you are served in a timely fashion but not rushed out of the building. 7.5/10

atmosphere- a dark setting, the interior is a suprise given the drab exterior of the building. inside you find a quiet setting that somehow manages to walk a fine line between gaudy and sleek in an urban japanese setting. it doesn't distract from the great food though. 6/10

bestsushiin charleston period.. yep, i said it all in the title. it is the bestsushiin charleston.

there other dishes are excellent as well. you'll be paying a good bit for this sushi, but the food is so delicious its well worth it.

cool building, nice staff, great food. i eat here as frequently as i can afford it!

zen, indeed.... perhaps, "euphoria" would be a better name for this place as this is what i experienced during my visit!

great service, they pay very close attention to details when you order, the tuna sashimi was served in the traditional way, without rice and the flavor was divineand it was served with the shredded dikon raddish (i have only seen this in very few establishments nation wide. needless to say, the presentation was exquisite and added that much more to my dining experience.

if you're a truesushienthusiast and don't mind spending a little more, this is the place to go in charleston.

great looking place with goodsushiand pad thai. service has drastically improved since my first visit months ago. will be returning.

absolutely wonderful! when i lived in charleston this was my favoritesushiplace by far. whenever i go back to visit, i always make sure i go here at least once. thesushiis some of the bestsushii've ever had. the rolls are gigantic and the plating is magnificent. also, the waitstaff is always on point, and the management is awesome. when they first opened up, i was a regular customer, and the manager would always hook me up. he would always have the chef create something new for me to try that they were experimenting with.
zen is asushirestaurant i highly recommend you try when visiting charleston.

amazing food and service!!!!!. i ate at zen asian fusion and love the inside decor it is beautiful. the staff is super nice and attentive. and the food is amazing. thesushiis so fresh and delicious. and the wine is excellent. you will not be disappointed if you go here. well worth your time to go.

amazing presentation for every dish from the seaweed salad to the need udon, the spicy yellowtailsushiand the red snapper sashimi.

staff was super polite and perfect timing at checking in on us. the atmosphere was perfect. definitely love it.

unimpressed. our experience was very average both times we had lunch here. thesushiseemed assembly line worthy to me. the "management" was overly impressed with himself and his restaurant. why are thesushichefs hiding in the back?

amazing sushi. i can't really explain how good thissushiis... innovative, with so many flavors and textures that compliment each other perfectly. in a way i wish i hadn't found this on vacation because our local places are going to be a disappointment now! we will be back every time we visit charleston

excellent fusion!. we stopped in here for dinner one night and it was first, very well decorated and i am dying to do a party and get one of the private rooms. second, i am not asushiperson, let alone sashimi, but the description of one of the tuna/crab/avocado rolls in a spicy mango sauce i knew i had to try it, and was glad i did..it was also a large portion, too much for me, but i couldn't stop because it tasted so good. the gyoza are delicious, as well as the spring/egg rolls. i had an opportunity to stand at thesushibar and watch the chefs at work and they truly turned out some art! all this and a decent price as well.

excellent establishment! upon a previous review, we revisited and were met by cindy in which she told us our review was taken very seriously and the problem has been rectified. it's wonderful to know that a restaurant takes feedback with such consideration and to also be observant enough to follow up with us a month later. not even knowing who we really are, but recognizing our faces within a large group of 25! very impressive. thanks cindy! and once again... wonderful sushi!

bestsushirolls in town! we are regulars and have never had a specialty roll we did not like. came in with a large party( 25)on a weds night and were put in the private party room. service was mediocre but the food did not disappoint. the female bartender was less than professional and extremely rude to our party. she messed up a few checks and mine twice, even after i discussed the mistakes with her and without letting me approve the corrections, ran my card when the bill was still wrong. she told me i could go to the person who's drinks were on my bill and get cash from them or it would take a couple days for my card to be refunded. she was complaining to another customer at the end of the bar about our party and having too many separate checks and she was too tired from working out that day to work. thumbs up sushi, thumbs down bartender.

love this place! much cooler looking on the inside than the outside would indicate.

the fourbtimes i have been the service has always been excellent and helpful. thesushialways fresh and delicious.
i tend to prefer a more basic style ofsushiand they have numerous fresh rolls, nigiri and sashimi that accomodate my tastes. they also have he numerous array fo beautiful specialty rolls that are fantastic and if you prefer your sauces on the side like i do they accomidate!

a perfect place to take a date!!!
