we used to drive from sw calgary toyumyum chicken in airdrie every month for their 5+ star amazing fried chicken. this week something had changed. battery is no longer light, fluffy, and crispy. chicken no longer has an amazing marinade. it is now has a very plain taste, and no longer worth the drive. i hope they bring back the original. until then we will not return.

out of their signature dish?? really?. we went based on the hype and they were out of theiryumyum chicken so we had their regular chicken and scallion chicken, which were both good. better than the popular fried chicken chain restaurants but how can they run out of their signature dish at 2pm on a weekday? also makes me question whether they make theyumyum chicken themself? my friend went a different day the same week and they were out of chicken completely.

ordered half normal fried and half spicy fried. seasoning of the chicken was quite different from any other i’ve had, really nice actually. the coating was nice as well, crispy outside juicy inside.
the price is higher than kfc but as a rare treat, i’d likely chooseyumyum over the colonel.

what a sweet little restaurant! we were greeted by a sweet lady and the chicken was quite delicious!!! i was made aware that there are otheryumyum chicken locations but i hear this place is the best. this place specializes in fried chicken and it's well worth the wait! definitely worth the stop on your way to calgary or beyond.

i foundyumchicken to actually serve the name of the restaurant properly. i went there with my second boy erigp last week. my boy had successfully passed his driver's test, so i decided to treat him with some poultry. i let him drive my van to the store, he only smash one car in the parking lot on the way there, very good for a man of his age. when i first coming to canada i run into many car with my van, and i always have to run away fast as i can't afford insurance. this give me many experience to pass on to my son, it's good that he learns how to properly do it when i'm in his presence.

we enter the store and i order one half order ofyumstyleyumchicken and one half order of hotyumstyle chicken for my boy. the lady at till was very bad at english, but i also bad at english sometime so i allow. i show her a small part of my rage when she not understand my order the first time she ask for it. i speak slowest as possible to allow my accent not to be cumbersome. she still present confusion and with this i decide to pull menu out of holder and point to what i want. this solve all problems and she take my money with a small bow and a large smile. i find bowing to be a foolish tradition as it allows your enemies an opportunity to attack you freely. my son laughs openly at this display.

our food comes promptly and with great smells and flavours of the koreas. i usually find korea food to be vile and offensive, so this is a pleasing event for me. i eat my first piece oh the hot flavour and i was immediately overtake with pleasure within my mouth. i sample the wing piece and i found the tip to be heavily deep fried and crunchy. i ate the piece whole, the bone was fried to perfection. it shattered completely and was easily digested. the larger bones we smuggled out of the store in our jackets in order to boil them the next day for a hearty broth, much to the looks of confusion of the till servant. i can tell she wanted them for herself, how foolish she must be to think we wouldn't be taking our bones. my son stuffed his pockets with the leftovers and we were on our way. the bones made an excellent broth for my wife and remaining kids as well.

will return in the future.

i've been toyumyum chicken twice. the first time i tried the spicy and the original, both were very yummy. thee second time i came, i had the shallot chicken which i throughly enjoyed as it was both sweet and savoury with a kick to it. the fries that came with the combo also were super crispy but you could tell they were really deep fried so i suggest eating here once in a while.

food: 5/5
in my opinion, the best fried chicken in airdrie. very crispy & juicy. i particularly like theyumyum flavour for something more sweet, otherwise the shallot. 3ish bucks for a large amount of crispy, specially seasoned crinkle-cut fries. meat on the poutine (pork) was a little soft for me, but still, the poutines here are premium and i want to try the beef next time.

edit: completely different staff. listen to you just fine. slight language barrier but service is 5/5 :)

i tried the spicy chicken, original, and withyumyum sauce. i'm not a fan of sweeter sauces so i wouldn't get theyumyum chicken again. however, i really enjoyed the spicy flavour and thought the texture of the chicken was just right. it's crispy and dry. it stayed fresh even hours later!

served by the owner. he was genuine and friendly.

-------------------------------
chicken sandwich was very crispy with a very satisfying crunch, seasoning and juiciness - without the feeling of excess grease.

if i'm picky: wish there were different options of toppings to put on the chicken sandwich. (spicy mayo, bacon, cheese etc)
-------------------------------

-------------------------------
half order ofyumyum chicken was a mixture or drums, wings, breasts, and a section of all white meat (?) (i'm still learning) . very crispy and satisfying. sauce was generous and was a unique taste of bbq (on the brown sugar sweet side) .

portion matches the cost.

reheated quite well.

if i'm picky: the all white meat pieces were a little dry and more tough. but still delicious.
------------------------------

if i'm picky, overall: don't be closed on mondays! i wanted chicken!

i will for sure be back to try everything on the menu. any cravings for kfc or mary brown's have been completely replaced byyumyum.

i recently received a massive 5 figure cheque from the government for $101.90. after receiving this money i knew i wanted to do something special for myself while remaining humble and not letting the money go to my head. i began my research on the internet. somewhere along the line of all inclusive trips, sons of anarchy blankets and lake front investment properties i ran into the menu foryumyum chicken. the thought of chicken and lakefront properties sparked a child hood memory flame in my mind, and as the fire began to grow, i knew i had to tend its clandestine fire. when i was a young lady i would spend the summers at my families lake house. every evening as the moon had its way with the sun, my family and i would dine on fried chicken and french fries. when i finished my meal i would dive into the lake to clean the grease from my young face and body. as i bashfully bathed blissfully in the evening light i would stare into the moon and ponder if i would ever have chicken as good as this, years have gone by and finally my questions were answered.

as you can guess i decided to go toyumyum chicken! now truth be told i have some reservations in regards to korean food since viet nam, but i so longed for that feeling of fried chicken that sparked my childhhod fire. i arrived around 6 pm (not am) lol and was greeted upon my arrival by a breath taking asian women who's brown eyes sparkled as bright as the ming dynasty. in broken english she inquired what i would have. i decided on the family sized bucket of challot chicken. after an inordinate amount of time my chicken arrived and i took my seat, i was ready to eat! as i took my first piece of chicken from the bucket my hands trembled slightly, but i gained my composure as i peeled back the skin like the pages of a hemingway novel. what i found inside was more awe inspiring than any thing hemingway wrote, pure brown glistening meat begging to be ravaged. i put the skin aside, and like a first kiss i hesitantly, yet fervently dove in for what i had yearned for, for so long. the meat was done to perfection and the taste could only be described as the feeling you get when you're hung over so you take 3 tylenol 3's, have 6 wine coolers and a 30 minute shower... i was in heaven! i continued to finish the bucket while putting the skin aside. i then covered the skin with a layer of salt and ate until only a pile of bones was left in front of me. my only complaint is their was no ranch for the chicken skin.

while i try to stay humble to my roots i cant help but to think the money i received has changed me. in many cases such a lump some of money would change a person  for the worst, i will however continually grow spiritually and culinarly with my blessing from the alberta government. therefore the money has changed me for the better.yumyum chicken helped me reconnect with my child hood, and if i ever decide to have kids i feel like its my spiritual duty in life to either conceive them here or give birth at this location in airdrie. thanksyumyum.

i've tried olive and ogam chicken in calgary and having triedyumyum i have to says its better in taste. we had the shallot and spicy chicken and the shallot was the most savory and flavourful of the two. the restaurant was clean and the service was good. the person who took our order at the front answered all our questions fully.
