yum yum chicken & bbq korean cuisine

poor customer service for delivery order. waited for over an hour and had to call back twice to find out the status. blamed delivery. confirmedorderwas ready earlier so food will be cold over an hour. no offer to compensate for the wait at all.

i found yum chicken to actually serve the name of the restaurant properly. i went there with my second boy erigp last week. my boy had successfully passed his driver's test, so i decided to treat him with some poultry. i let him drive my van to the store, he only smash one car in the parking lot on the way there, very good for a man of his age. when i first coming to canada i run into many car with my van, and i always have to run away fast as i can't afford insurance. this give me many experience to pass on to my son, it's good that he learns how to properly do it when i'm in his presence.

we enter the store and iorderone halforderof yum style yum chicken and one halforderof hot yum style chicken for my boy. the lady at till was very bad at english, but i also bad at english sometime so i allow. i show her a small part of my rage when she not understand myorderthe first time she ask for it. i speak slowest as possible to allow my accent not to be cumbersome. she still present confusion and with this i decide to pull menu out of holder and point to what i want. this solve all problems and she take my money with a small bow and a large smile. i find bowing to be a foolish tradition as it allows your enemies an opportunity to attack you freely. my son laughs openly at this display.

our food comes promptly and with great smells and flavours of the koreas. i usually find korea food to be vile and offensive, so this is a pleasing event for me. i eat my first piece oh the hot flavour and i was immediately overtake with pleasure within my mouth. i sample the wing piece and i found the tip to be heavily deep fried and crunchy. i ate the piece whole, the bone was fried to perfection. it shattered completely and was easily digested. the larger bones we smuggled out of the store in our jackets inorderto boil them the next day for a hearty broth, much to the looks of confusion of the till servant. i can tell she wanted them for herself, how foolish she must be to think we wouldn't be taking our bones. my son stuffed his pockets with the leftovers and we were on our way. the bones made an excellent broth for my wife and remaining kids as well.

will return in the future.

if i'm picky: wish there were different options of toppings to put on the chicken sandwich. (spicy mayo, bacon, cheese etc)

halforderof yum yum chicken was a mixture or drums, wings, breasts, and a section of all white meat (?) (i'm still learning) . very crispy and satisfying. sauce was generous and was a unique taste of bbq (on the brown sugar sweet side) .

portion matches the cost.

reheated quite well.

if i'm picky: the all white meat pieces were a little dry and more tough. but still delicious.

i will for sure be back to try everything on the menu. any cravings for kfc or mary brown's have been completely replaced by yum yum.

i've tried olive and ogam chicken in calgary and having tried yum yum i have to says its better in taste. we had the shallot and spicy chicken and the shallot was the most savory and flavourful of the two. the restaurant was clean and the service was good. the person who took ourorderat the front answered all our questions fully.

best fried chicken in calgary and area! love the spicy fried and shallot! call andorderin advance then go pick it up. it takes them about 20 minutes to fry it.

bbq beef and pork combos. we ordered a bbq grilled beef and a bbq grilled pork combos for dinner, just to try something new and what was our surprise: the food was wonderful, delightful, the chicken incredibly tender and tasty, the beef marvelous, everything was great, ahhhh, we do not have words to express, how much we enjoyed the food. we willorderfrom yum yum again, that's for sure.

... got to the spicy fried chicken. despite its name, the fried chicken only had mild heat. i think they kept it minimal to appeal to their customer base. the chicken really shone through both in flavor and crispiness. this was my favorite flavor and pretty much the one i willorderevery time from here on out.

i was debating on how much toorderfor five people, because in the past, i've shared a whole chicken with a friend, and ate everything without any remains. as well, i knew some members in my family have a larger than your average appetite. when i called, i asked the young girl how many people three whole chickens could feed, and she replied "it depends on how much the person eats, but there are about 36 pieces for three whole chicken".... that's nearly 7 pieces per person! so i chickened out  and decided to go with two whole order, and was i glad i went with the two whole orders! we had leftovers enough to last for another full meal! halforderof the shallot chicken halforderof the spicy fried chicken  - spicier than it appears wholeorderof the yum yum chicken . i typically prefer "dry" fried chicken over saucy ones, but this one was pretty good. the sauce didn't take away the crispiness of the chicken and the amount of sauce was just the right amount (not drenched, but also not lacking).  the entireordercame with four complimentary cup sized  pickled radish , which paired extremely well with the savoury chicken the approximate time that the chicken sat idle after being cooked was probably close to half an hour (after having arrived late for pick up and driving back home). by the time we got to eating the chicken, the temperature of the chicken was still warm enough that it didn't require reheating. we found a few dry pieces here a

where's the meat ?. we were told how great the chicken was at this place so weordertwo and half chickens. we had the yum yum, spicy and the shallot; chicken bones with a little meat. the pieces were small since the most of the meat has been removed. we were mainly eating the batter and chewing on the bones. i will admit the coating was very tasty but it is pretty expensive batter. not worth the drive from calgary and we will be ordering from olive chicken now on.

local fried chicken lovers rejoice!. look, i'm not going to act like i'm a food critic here. it would seem pointless to actually "hire a food critic" and rely on that to fix everything. plus, aren't we all just posting on urbanspoon? i mean, it's a public site for the public opinion and thus a service for readers to absorb the opinions of other posters, then form their own opinion.
all i know is that my love for fried chicken is enough to keep me going back to sub-par, greasy-soggy fried chicken products like kfc. on wings night at the bar, i will purelyordersalt and peppered style knowing that they will more than likely be like fried chicken. at pizza 73, i willorderfrom them, but not because of their terrible pizza, but for their golden crispy wings! one time i was so desperate for a fix, i had safeway deli fried chicken, and i didn't complain! so judge me! call my standards low! do your worst! because if you don't understand this, then you don't have the same "love".

i'm calling out to all the real local fried chicken lovers out there and to you i want to say..... "brothers and sisters... we have some great fried chicken in airdrie!"
it's crispy, it's juicy, and it's got more variety than most fried chicken places.
regular crispy, spicy, yumyum, and shallot chicken. i've tried and love them all.

warning: you will smell like grease after a good meal here. any good fc lover will not have a problem with this but if you're a total girl or something then i might suggest changing into some dirty clothes before going.
